Canada for example would be much easier for them to do this sort of thing in than the US. In Canada there's 1 phone company. When they buy a POTs card... they buy 1 kind of card for the whole country. When they invest in fiber, it's the same fiber tech everywhere. They have 1 plant records system (Martens) and 1 billing system. Come to the US and some phone companies are still keeping track of their plant in spiral notebooks.
Though I don't doubt they're well on their way to solving these difficulties given the enormity of their resources. Had you asked me 5yrs ago if this was possible I'd have said no. But I had no grasp of the level of corruption the NSA had managed to spread throughout the corporate world.
So, I work for an ISP... most major infrastructure already has a dedicated wire. We install them all the time. They are pretty rare. They control Damns, power plants, etc... etc... They usually lead from the facility to a government building in town. Most are very small... 56k or so. The only non-government uses I've seen for them are usually 2 manufacturing plants built close to each other. They run this dedicated line between them.
Of other note, many power plants forbid ANY copper/metal wire from entering the facility. They only allow fiber. I've asked why that is but have gotten so many different answers from the facility staff that I'm not sure what the true reason is.

You're missing the point. You can't control peoples natural instinct to do what they will unless you convince them it's wrong. In many southern states there are still dry counties where alcohol is nearly illegal and there are no liqueur stores. Those counties have some of the highest rates of drunk driving in the country because people end up having to drive an hour to get beer, or if they want to get home cabs aren't an option. You have to take the long view when creating legislation. Just because it sounds like a good idea doesn't mean the effect will be anything like what you intend.
The problem with cities like Paris is they've centralized taxation into some metropolitan areas. They concentrate wealth at the city center and then tax the hell out of it. Then they have to deal with the congestion problem as tens of thousands of people try to commute at the same time to the same place. If they really wanted to ease pollution the best solution would be to stop growing at the center and start spreading growth all over the city at a slower rate. In my particular city they were running out parking in the downtown area so they wanted to build an $8 billion train that ran for only 30 miles to truck people in and out. If they'd just bought out one of the older high-rises and had those businesses move a mile in any direction they'd have saved over 7 of those 8 billion dollars and fixed the congestion problem in 6 months rather than 10 years.
The most shocking part is that people even bother with the legit methods at all anymore.

I take it you don't know how to beat a smog inspection? The easiest way is to make sure both cars are the same make/model and just switch the plates when it's time for the inspection. The more difficult ways involve you knowing how to turn a wrench (or at least know someone that does) but it's not really all that difficult. I think you'd be surprised just how easy it is.
This is already done in Mexico City. The net result has been to INCREASE pollution. While air quality in the city did not change at all, residents simply kept their old car when they bought another one. Now they had 2 cars and could drive every day of the week because they had different plates. As a result they kept older cars that might have been salvaged running longer, producing more pollutants over the long run and also forcing the poor that could only afford one car to be the only group in compliance with the spirit of the law. Car purchases in Mexico city sky rocketed while new car production remained stagnant, meaning people were buying older used cars. Basically this law caused Mexico city to suck in every 20 year old jalopy from every neighboring city and town just so residents could get to work on time.

We need to stop big tax dodgers useing loop holes to pay no taxes.
Loopholes are not there to benefit the person that uses them. They are used by the government to manipulate you into using your money in such a way that it benefits the government. For example, Obama was giving tax breaks to companies to hire new employees. The government did not care that the business saved money or even if the employees got new jobs. What they did care about was that for a few tens of thousands in tax breaks to the company, they in-turn took dozens of people off of unemployment,maybe food stamps, etc... and they were then able to collect income tax from these new employees totaling more than the break they gave the business for hiring them. They manipulated the company into providing even more in tax revenue.
In almost every case, if you look at a loophole or tax break... then end net result is that the government collects more taxes because of it.
For Christs Sake! It is NOT The governments Job to attend to MY child. They should not be involved in manipulating the future of our children at all. It's bad enough that we're forced into using these shitty public schools, but then to take even more resources away from us to fund special programs for kids that don't need extra help in the first place is ridiculous. Maybe we should put the kids in special camps based on their IQ next? Children are not a resource to be exploited by the federal government. Period.

Given that the typical admin in a large corp gets bombarded with a jillion emails daily (ranging from fluff to drop-dead serious, because vendors rarely know the difference), I can see warnings get buried in the pile pretty easily.
I used to work in the NOC for a major telco and let me tell you, your ENTIRE job is being able to filter through that shit to see the big picture. I was looking at hundreds of network alarms simultaneously at any moment on any given day, and I had to know what was going on.
I've always known some people that were stupid enough to fall for this garbage. And I always told them how dumb they were being. But now I have my own kid. Now, I ask... "Is your kid vaccinated?" and if not they are not allowed in my house, and not allowed around my kid unless mandated by law (school) One couple got mad at me, and I finally just told them to go screw themselves. The life of my child is not worth maintaining your pseudoscience addled minds fantasy. I'm sick of it, and everyone else should be to. Ostracize these people and their kids. Do not allow them near you. The only thing that will fix this insane fad is peer pressure.

I suspect that if they start re-introducing them to the wild, that will become illegal to... which would be super lame. Also, the ivory found in bogs and such usually absorb minerals and stuff making it very unique looking.
No thanks. I can get a better laptop/Netbook/tablet for cheaper and they include a screen. I can build a better desktop for cheaper as well. If I want to experiment I'll get a RPi What niche is this filling? Possibly good for an automotive entertainment center or in an RV... but nah. Way over priced. Let me know when it's under $100.
