The cost of a Windows and Office license is quite high. Doing a few Google searches to find out how to use Linux & Open Office is alot cheaper than that. I live in Honduras. The police are often willing to let gringos get away, but I wouldnt try bribing them or anything like that. They might get offended. The best solution is often to act stupid and pretend you aren't great at Spanish. After a while the cop will get bored and send you on your way. Always carry proper documentation (passport or photo ID). People here don't do fisticuffs, arguments quickly escalate from words to guns being shot, without the punch up stage. So it's better to always be calm and friendly. Making jokes is ok, as long as it's at your own expense and not theirs. And FFS, stay away from the drug & people traffickers unless you want to get yourself killed. Never screw with someone elses wife or girlfriend either. As I said, there is no fisticuffs stage and doing that is a good way to get yourself killed.
