    I'm running Google Earth in Virtual Box...

    I'm running VB, as well. Uninstall=delete image and paste fresh copy, update AV & OS. The point was I would rather not run another intrusive service.

    HAHAHA, I was reading your comment when Comodo indicated GoogleUpdater.exe was trying to access the net. I just loaded GE5 yesterday and disabled the updater in msconfig(XPsp3), haven't had time to mess around with the ocean chit. I could try disabling uodater in Management Console/Services but I think I'm just going to say "no, thanks" and uninstall.

    I was curious about Google Ocean, but once again Google proves they are omnipotent not only on the internets, but on my intra-tubes, too. Take a hike, no-evil doers.

    Here's the thing. DRM does not remove any control from you. None whatsoever. It is only a figment of your imagination. In fact, it gives you more control.

    Gonna have to 2nd that BS call, MrE. Sony R-K, Spore spyware, Vista bloat...three separate incidences where more control was not had by the end user, hardly figments of imagination.

    You did hit the nail on the head when you said:

    If you don't like DRM, fine, then don't buy DRM encoded media. It's your choice.

    My money is my only vote that really gets counted, and I vote "no". I will be less-hip buying a Creative player rather than an iPod. I will continue to purchase from Amazon for blazing the trail away from iTunes' control-freak pre-transgression platform. I will cling to my licensed, custom "No-Phone-Home" installations of Windows XP until they pry them from my cold, dead fingers...or until I can master the Linux cli or X gets fixed(neither is likely in my lifetime).

    I personally avoided XP until SP2, I'm looking forward to Vista SP2, or 7, or whatever as long as it fixes the last of the glaring problems(network file transfer speeds).
    I already know how to disable the myriad of useless services and features, it's a very popular trick/service.
    When I turn off someone's gluttonous Aero features, they didn't care about eye candy enough to notice a difference, besides how much faster it now does what they WANT it to do.

    I'm yet to find a non-tech customer that doesn't hate Vista's file organization, as well.(where's the other download folder? Do I need all those folders in MY Documents? Are they not MYne anymore? How to find anything in the start-menu? And as always: can you turn off this annoying(overly-persistent) UAC?(Universal Accept Conditioner)
