What one generation tolerates, the next generation embraces.
Sadly, in each generation, for every one sensible person, there are 100,000 vidiots who think Reality TV is real.
Reminds me of an HVAC tech's response to his inability to find duct tape after 9/11:
"I feel just like Jesus, I get to suffer for the sins of all the stupid people."
Unless we're being pedantic, then you are mistaken, they've been doing it for a couple of years now.
The opt-out DNS settings are available, if you you can find them on that horribly counter-intuitive site. Here's they are:
* 68.105.28.13
* 68.105.29.13
Don't believe this internet forum troll? No worries, I wouldn't either. Google them and see!
What the ISPs could do for this is to filter outbound traffic such that if the src IP is not on their network (i.e., is spoofed) the packet is dropped.
This should have been a day 1 rule. Why else do we have headers?... it's not b/c they're an interesting read. The wild, wild west BS has gotten old. Teh powers that be will wait until a disaster and we beg for a new sheriff, then we will get eDHS and something more egregious and intrusive than FISA.
When I learned my father's # was eerily similar to mine. We were born in the same hospital some 25 years apart, that was about the time I wondered how hard it would be to do what these guys did.
Anyone notice the 2nd article's author's name? Wouldn't it be nice if this bit of info exposed the market manipulations that led us down the road of $124 barrel oil? Tyler Durden eat your heart out, maybe Robin Hood will save the day!
Is the warm fuzzy feeling I get when it runs a scan and says at the end, "No immediate threats found". I am left with a feeling of satisfaction knowing the annoyingly persistent pop-up WinAntiVirus is wrong and my computer really is clean. Nevermind the win system files Nort didn't check b/c access was denied, that's just micro-details that doesn't concern the end user.
Didn't this console flop b/c nobody made new games for it? Who hasn't played all these titles on their MAME? I'd like to see some release code/remakes of the games that had some depth, how about Star Raiders or Countermeasure? Starflight for the Genesis was pretty wicked fun until you lost your map of the universe.
On that note, I'm off to find the magic dot and slay some dragons.
Oh yeah, I see it now. Buried amidst the "See Also" and "Top Stories" noise. After a quick Goog, 1st NASA page announcing their new wonderful project available for download doesn't even link to the download page. lols
Good thing they did not put the link in the story, that would have just been straight-up asinine.
Incredibly paranoid? I've been deluding myself into believing it was an inherent distrust of "social scientists" and my propensity to not eat from my chemistry set... mixed in with a little paranoia.
I realize there is a lack of prosody when posting to/., next time I will use the/sarcasm or ask the direct question: At what cost to the consumers for such an insignificant "benefit" and who stands to profit from it?
Genetic mod's make me think of unintended consequences, I'm sure I'm just being paranoid and will stay that way. TFA doesn't state how to accelerate growth(even more hormones? time machine? magic?) They do state higher quality feed would help, but what goes into growing this premium feed and it's effects on the environment? More nutrients drawn from the dirt, more fertilizers required(how will the methane-free fertilizer work?). Lotsa questions need to be answered before I'll take a bite of a gen-mod burger.
Oh, and all this to reduce emmissions = 500K cars? Wow, quick fact check found 600 million cars on the world's roads back in '97, I'm sure all the additional costs that will make their way to the consumer will all be worth it in the end. Get it:, end... rear...?
No one should be above the law, ESPECIALLY not the government. If it's a crime for ME to have drugs in my possession and offer to sell them to someone, it should be a crime for the POLICE to do so.
Take it a step further and replace drugs w/ promise of weapons from an al Qaeda "informant" and next thing you know you've got some 2-bit street thugs convicted(3rd time's a charm) of international terrorism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_City_7
Completing a degree in 2 years would be an amazing amount of work, but perfectly doable if you could handle the load.
Actually, the rule at my school(ASU), and I believe for all US colleges, is any credits over 18, max of 21, per regular semester requires a teacher and dean's(office) sig. Summer school max is 12 credits, 2 classes per 6 week course, 2 courses per summer). Two years maxed out would only yield you 108 credits of the 126 required to graduate(21+21+12+21+21+12).
2 years + 1 semester would be the fastest possible means to a conventional grad'n.
That's how I did it back in the '90's anyway, a real PIA running to get them sigs every semester. Between the sig running, wrangling to get the right classes and working 3rd shift to afford the degree I stumbled and had to take an extra semester... took me exactly 36 months to tally 127 credits.
Looks like all the other "progress" bars frozen on mid-load. Have tried multiple unique and linked searches and the "Building a Square for..." bar fills 90% and stops every time... didn't think Big G was susceptible to the Slashdot Effect.
Commonly used CD ISOs: Linux Live OS, OPH, Photorec, Memtest, DBAN, Acronis Recovery, DOS boot Disk, pre-Vista MS OS's... That's alot of flash drives.
Common used util's and drivers come in handy on systems with short-bus syndrome(corrupt, legacy 1.0, or no drivers installed). Flash drives have also been known to corrupt/fail with no warning or apparent cause.
ISO creation of fresh OS loads(sans Vista), for fast & easy recovery... one copy on storage drive, one "working" copy gathering dust on the cd spindle.
I carry about a dozen disks daily, along with 2 flash drives and 2.5" SATA drive/cables.
The real question that should be asked is "does Windows 7 offer significantly improved feature set"?
If not, then one begs the question of why bother.
Great question.
I was just explaining to a XP end-user(upgraded from Vista) last week that they did not need a 200MB installation of Adobe Reader 9 to read a PDF. Foxit does the job just fine @ 7MB.
Other bloat topics we discussed(and their much smaller, more reliable & safer alternatives): Norton, Office 2007, Vista.
Moral of the story: in the race to stay relevant, "fresh" and "in-your-face" some applications seem to have outgrown their original usefulness. So, once again I'll ask, "Why bother?"(until 2014, anyway)
Who are you kidding???? This was the nastiest endemic epidemic pandemic we've had since the last strain(chicken? dog? pony?) of flu killed 40,000 + in the US alone!!! 8% of all deaths were due to the plague that jumped to virtually every continent in less than 3 months!!!! It was sheer chaos, young & old were not spared, they were dropping like flies!!!!
Heck, that was back in 2007... go waaaay back to the 2004 or 2000 when the mortalities really spiked to over 60,000!

Make them very small and dispense them like candy.
The kids will eat em up!

Crap, the Digg Effect blanked my link: The First IT Pro
Sometimes they need a little instruction in the hi-tech wizardry we take for granted:
The First IT Professional
...I don't believe you're allowed to snap pics at the strip club.
Early adopters and people who have invested in home setups which would make Blu-Ray worthwhile are more likely to rent from other places
Or rent regular DVDs to play on their $400 HD consoles. Talk about a bargain!
now they're going to add video? Super swell idea there.
As a matter of fact, I was thinking just the other day The Internet Archive should add a peer-reviewed & maintained encyclopedia service...
They want their headline back!
AdBlockPlus FTW!

How about strip-searching at the airport?

Meh, back to the timeline for me.
You could have purchased a 1st Class ticket or paid $100 to join the security-skirter club and received none of that lowly indignation.
After all, it's not more money and control they're after, it's all about your personal safety.
$5 water anyone? It's the non-volatile kind only found in the terminal...just past the security checkpoint.
