I had noticed back when I was studying Physics that almost all of my classmates came from small cities (I was the exception). (I believe the situation is similar for other sciences such as biology and chemistry). However, the University itself is located in a small town so it may have skewed the data.

Actually, it is far more secure that way, if one organization did somehow owned all security online, the internet as a whole would be much less security because now you have a single point of failure. Once someone exploited that vulnerability, the entire Internet as a whole would be affected. Also I get the feeling from the article that what they are really after is not necessarily security, but CONTROL of the Internet. Lastly, that man DOES NOT protect the Internet in any way, shape or form. He might be responsible for the USA military Intranet, but that's about it. Stop the fear-mongering already.

That's pretty ridiculous, it is one thing to prevent discrimination against individuals but not when it endangers public safety or the general benefit of the REST of the society. Somehow we need to turn the tides on the all pervasiveness of being political correct (why are such instances even considered as PC, I have no idea), there are cases when it is actually doing more harms than goods. They probably won't have the newer version of the Tachikoma in the movie, since the original GitS didn't have either. Although they may decide to include them anyway, which is not necessary a bad thing since they do portray a counterview of the A.I. as cold and emotionless. It all depends on whether they'll try to stick faithfully to the original script or write a new one.

The A.I. version of Tachikoma that everyone loves didn't show up until in SAC (not including the managa).

As a GitS fan, I am exciting but at the same time worried about what 'Western' adaption of GitS would look like. Also although the original GitS movie was good, the SAC season I and II series are superior in the sense that fully a full 26 episode season really allowed the story and its universe to be examined in detail, something that a movie can never truly do.

With that said, I'd still be eager to see Hollywood version of GitS, even if I may very well end up hating it.

They very definitely did catch the right guy, I read the forum on beyond.ca and the people involved in catching the thief were not some retard retards, but rather some good guys helping out a fellow enthusiast.

They decide to post pictures because in the original description, the owner of the right-hand drive GTR (a very rare car in Canada) said that one of the thieft hand had two of its fingers cut off. So what happened was that one of the members, when spotted a similar GTR, flashed the 'rocker' hand-sign and the thief did the same, showing his hand which completely matched the owner's description.

And actually they did contact the police from the beginning, but the police only did show up in time the 2nd time and they BOX in the car.

There is a big issue with such simplified generalization as it does not differentiate between personal and economical freedom. Specifically, the Right-Left Wing viewpoint left out the Libertarian and Totalitarian view. In your example, the right may want lower tax and smaller government but they can also (and often) hold conversative viewpoint that advocates more restriction in social and personal freedom (which is often the view held by right-wing conservatism).

The Nolan Chart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nolan_chart illustrates this concept and shows why a Right-Left viewpoint missed out important details.
