Why is this news for geeks? Is there something technically advanced in their new building? Why should we care? Or is the word "Apple" enough to warrant front page on Slashdot?
This is really the wrong forum to ask this question. Ask a biker forum - there is a commuting section on Bikeforums.net. Short answer though - it is safe, there are many cyclists who commute every day. You have to take some precautions, and it is good to be aware of the danger points - but that is true of any activity.
My problem with my wife's iPhone is that everything about the app has to be on-screen - no "menu" or "back" buttons like android. Clutters up the screen needlessly in some apps - and getting to the settings for the app means leaving the app, something I really dislike.
Apparently I'm not the only one who dislikes that - my wife, who should fit the ideal iPhone use profile, dislikes it too - to the extent that she prefers to use my phone and doesn't want an iPhone anymore.
Has Apple added extra buttons for a menu and a back button? That would be the most useful UI design change.
Will these people get paid for the seven years they train? I'm in a pessimistic mood today, so I'm assuming that they will not actually reach Mars - just wondering what they will get for the seven years they put in.
I don't know what it is about the American culture, but I see very few female programmers. I saw very few female students in the Computer Science classes where I was a teaching assistant (in USA).
On the other hand, there were a lot of females in my Computer Science classes in India - and most of those students did enter the industry to work. Some even started their own companies.
Since most won't RTFA - the confrontation didn't happen or escalate over the sightings. That was because the Chinese army setup camp in Indian territory. During that time soldiers reported these sightings, and the army (responsibly) went to the Indian Institute of Astrophysics for confirmation.
This won't stop the India bashing of course, but hopefully someone will read this post or TFA.
wow, I didn't know about geo-caching. And now that I know, I don't see myself participating, ever! This doesn't even have to do with fear of terrorism - picking up a box with unknown contents, packed by a stranger - why do people do it?
You realize stuff like this is the only way Linux may become popular on the desktop? We can't really expect everything to be FOSS. Support this if its useful to you, and look past the activation - more companies may start developing for Linux then. Would hate to see the Loki story all over again.
Based on your fucked up logic, the software industry has no business existing, since none of the developers are robbed of anything by piracy, therefore everyone can pirate, developers don't get paid, no more developers.
Welcome to the digitized world. Your arguments may be okay if applied to the 18th century (though I suspect they will fail there as well) - but if you want your Windows/Linux/Office/OpenOffice/Java/MSN/Yahoo/ and you don't develop it yourself, then pirating is robbing developers of their money.
Thankfully, your opinion isn't likely to change things. Most people who go to such clinics will have no other options. When I read your comment, all I could think was - what an idiot.
I agree with the feeling behind your post, but please take this back: (and much of the rest of the world),
The United States has caused more trouble for other countries that they have tried to "liberate" than anyone else in this post world war 2 age. All of us would be happier if you didn't try to be the saviour of the world, upholding freedom and democracy everywhere. And considering that we are talking about the most powerful nation in the world, we would also sleep safer without your help.
That is a rubbish comparison. Comparing suicide rates of earning people to suicide rates that include non-working people. You would expect suicide rates to be higher amongst people without a job.
That said, I am glad - I don't like Apple, but I think they are doing the right thing here. Even if they pass on the increase to the consumer, it is still the right thing to do.
What do you think the army does?
Seriously, is the UN even relevant anymore?
Hear, hear.
After all, we should keep an open mind to alternate explanations.

Those are deep space kraken!

This is not a prettied up blog, please do not implement non-scaling design.

But this one is a live (and good) comic strip: http://www.reptilisrex.com/
On the other hand, in India we know that its rote-learning, not route learning :)

Have you checked out aptitude? See: http://tread.wordpress.com/2007/02/21/howto-use-aptitude-instead-of-synaptic-and-why/ (its my blog).

I was going to type, lets see how many posts we manage before the call centre ad "jokes" creep in, but looks like I was too late.
Good. I hope they get the patent, then hopefully no one else will do this.

We need a fanboi moderation tag.
Thats the first thing that came to your mind why you read this? Really? Pathetic!
