I didn't pay any additional money, no but my point is that I've already payed that money. The original release was woefully short - four levels not all of them playable in all modes...etc.
I paid for a what would eventually be a full-sized game under the impression that they would continue developing it and release the content as it's available. To me this is the best way of doing things - I get something to play early on rather than waiting for the whole thing to be finished and then get the rest of the content when it's ready. It almost seems like Valve have taken the excuse to charge full price for a small game and then try to say "look, aren't we nice giving all this FREE, BONUS content away?". The survival mod was pretty underwelming. It seemed like the type of thing that could have been added in a week. Apparently there was a load of balancing envolved - but that's not at all obvious if that's the case. now there's another map which is purposefully short. Don't get me wrong - they're my favourite game developer by far I'm just not sure their quality-over-quantity ratio is very well balanced.
1. You have to connect to the internet at least once per game.
2. You can't transfer game ownership.
Personally I don't care about either - I have an internet connection, I can deal with that. If my connection dies it can be annoying, but hey, it's not the end of the world.
The nontransferability is a bit annoying - I accidentally bought a game on my brothers account and can't transfer it to myself! But I'd rather have my library of old games available on steam than as a stack of old scratched CDs that I have to cart around.
Meh, each to their own I guess. I just think that "steam(ing pile of shit)" is a bit strong.
Yeah, I'm getting what would be good and what would actually happen mixed up. Ah well. I look forward to the next macho-space-marines-fighting-off-invading-aliens yawn fest.
That may be true but over the last few generations of consoles the majority of games have just been keeping up with the progression in power and not pushing the limits of what is available - rarely even bringing anything new to the table other than a nice lens flare or reflection...
You say it as if limiting capabilities is a bad thing. Hopefully it will force the developers to be more creative and we'll get some decent games instead of the same repackaged shite with slightly higher framerate/pixel count/level of detail.
Yeah, because the UK is tiny and everyone knows each other. If they know someone there then they could just walk around the corner and knock on his door.
Most musicians I know use a usb connection for keyboards or have an external audio/MIDI interface, so wouldn't think that this would be much of an issue. (?)
I haven't managed to get my usb-connected midi controller keyboard working, but I had assumed that was a driver issue. I haven't looked into it too far as I've still got xp to make music on and onyl installed 7 to have a look - not to use it full time.
Makes you wonder what would have happened if it had been in his favour...
Imagine checking your balance and seeing a 17-digit figure. I'm pretty sure I'd lose my balance if that happened.
Mod parent up.
I've had 7 installed for a while now. It was amazingly smooth for a few weeks. Now it's just as sluggish as any other windows version is after acouple months.

I would pay money for this.
I can only see two "problems" with steam:
1. You have to connect to the internet at least once per game.
2. You can't transfer game ownership.

shows that Valve continues to support their existing games, even for free.
You mean Valve continues to finish the game and provide the updates and content that were promised and paid for at the time of the initial purchase.
".[..] have performed flawlessly, remaining stable and reliable"
Well that's great but is it actually any good?
A brick can be flawless, stable and reliable but it wouldn't be much use for making music on.
Yeah, it must be hard getting fit and healthy. I can see your point.
that's not how you spell Telly
Yeah, I'm getting what would be good and what would actually happen mixed up. Ah well. I look forward to the next macho-space-marines-fighting-off-invading-aliens yawn fest.
Well, they haven't spotted my mars rover yet.
Does that answer your question?
That may be true but over the last few generations of consoles the majority of games have just been keeping up with the progression in power and not pushing the limits of what is available - rarely even bringing anything new to the table other than a nice lens flare or reflection...
Yeah, that'll work great when my battery dies or there's no signal.
You say it as if limiting capabilities is a bad thing. Hopefully it will force the developers to be more creative and we'll get some decent games instead of the same repackaged shite with slightly higher framerate/pixel count/level of detail.
That's "what" you "said", right?
Yeah, because that's just round the corner. I'll pop round before dinner.
Yeah, because the UK is tiny and everyone knows each other. If they know someone there then they could just walk around the corner and knock on his door.
If you're American, yeah. If you're british it's a bit more complicated.
You're blaming Microsoft for the quality of the drivers that ATi and Nvidia have written and released?
In what way have they removed midi support?
Most musicians I know use a usb connection for keyboards or have an external audio/MIDI interface, so wouldn't think that this would be much of an issue. (?)

The Windows 7 sounds system also seems to work well for low-latency audio applications - i.e. music software.
From what I've heard the British use of the word Geek roughly equates to the American usage of the word Nerd and Vice Versa.
As a fervent FPS player I can attest that blocking is dangerous and can kill.

No, you've got it wrong. They've been to mars, they just hushed it up and pretended it was a simulation.

Yes, but that's obviously because we don't have enough of them yet. Hmmm.
