they might seem cool, but they aint productive. I want to keep my hands on the keyboard for typing not having to move them down for a a trackpad, for the touch screen, riight, aint any keyboard there at all in tablet mode anyway.
Sounds like you don't need one, then. However, though It might be hard to imagine, not everyone uses a computer the way you do. As my name suggests, I make music. Sure I can reach for my mouse, move it to find out where the cursor's gone, find the cursor, move it to where I want to click then click but by the time I've done that I've missed my cue and dropped the drumbeat in out of sync.
Or I can look at a screen, see the bit I want to press and press it with my finger and everything goes ok.
yeah, it might get greasy and it won't replace the keyboard+mouse combo in all situations but it will definately be useful for some people.
Personally I don't watch any films which use steadycams because I like feeling that I'm an observer floating across the scene on the smooth wheels of an office chair. I generally don't watch movies that have a meaning, too. I like films to be fun and everyone knows fun and education are mutually exclusive.
Left 4 Dead on PC has the ability to split screen with a few commands and a 360 controller (and some luck, apparently...I've yet to get it working properly but that's beside the point). They could easily have built that into the menu system and actually made it good. If they had then me and my flat mate would have played it every night. But I couldn't get it working properly so we played call of duty nazi zombies instead.
But then again CoD:WaW only let you play four-player split screen on versus mode. You can only play 4-player zombies online. Maybe there's some technical reason - it does glitch a bit on two player when it gets hectic - but I'd have gladly taken a hit to the graphics or something to be able to play with more players.
you're actually pretty safe here walking on the street in most places as long as you stay out of ghettos. Most violent crimes here are between criminals, as a result of the drug trade; people not involved aren't victims of violent crime very often (guns involved or not).
Yeah, that seems like a reasonable description of Britain. Oh, wait...
(New) Labour redefined the word new when they took power. It now means "Not actually". Seriously, next time you hear a politician use the word "new" as a prefix think about that, you'll see what I mean.
I think the whole, original question was "Why is the sky depicted as blue in books and drawings when it is clearly a dull grey almost 100% of the time?"
Actually I've learned a lot since I've had a mobile phone. Such as a variety of abreviations, like "lol" and "rofl". Also, I now know how to convey feelings using only punctuation. For example this shows I am happy:)
I feel that if I keep using my phone as I do may end up being able to convey meaning without even using any vowels.
In what way are SD better than MS? They both seem about as ubiquitous as each other as far as I can see. I'm all for open standards - the tech world could be so much simpler if everything worked together - but what exactly is the problem? Pretty much every card reader I've seen has the ability to read both. Sandisk and other companies also make them so it's not like they've got a monopoly on production. Again, I'm not defending them, I've just never had a problem with them and never erally thought about it until now.
Also i used to think that memory sticks were "pretty much the standard" because everyone i knew was using them...although now that I think about it pretty much everyone I knew owned a sony digital camera...
Fair point. Are there any companies that don't do this? And make good, usable products? Maybe I've just been reading slashdot too much but it seems that every company has got some form of lockdown built in. Don't mean to sound snarky, it's a serious question.
Well, I've got a Sony camera (P200, point and shoot) which stores images as JPG and videos as MPG and can transfer these to any platform without the need for drivers or software. Ok, so haven't had to ask for any customer seupport but still...
I've also got a sony-ericsson phone which lets me copy any music files I want (i use mp3, not sure what other file types are supported) on to it and listen to them (via the admitedly annoying proprietary headphone adapter), use them as my ring tone etc... Also I can take photos on it without restriction and copy them to and from my computer without the need for drivers or software.
I'm not a Sony fanboy, they're not perfect but in my experience they're a lot more open than other companies. Just my 2c. YMMV.
I installed it yesterday as well. I didn't have a yahoo toolbar installed though I would point out that opting out of this is a little confusing. Liek the installer says, you have to deselect it on the NEXT screen. It's quite cunning.
Aren't music videos supposed to be promotional material? Kind of like adverts for the albums/singles? Why would anyone NOT want people to see them?
That was my first thought. But then we don't know how gravity works yet, do we? There may yet be another way.
I thought it was to differentiate the stories from all the non-stories that get posted.

Alright, but dogs CAN look up.
yeah, and it sucks.

Now imagine that you work out in public, and there are people with whom you come into contact (and reprimand) who may have violent tendencies.
Time to find a better gym.
We all live in a yellow submarine.
Mmm-hmm.
What is this, funny friday or something?

Labour (Sorry, New Labour) ...

PS3 is quiet? I'd hate to have a loud machine. In my experience PS3s sound like they're cooled by aircraft propellors.
...if they had included the annotations. Most of them don't really make sense without knowing what (2) is.
*woooosh* Hey, what was that sound?
Try enabling joke detection
:D
Two slashdot pages at once.
They both play everything I've thrown at them and neither of them are particularly pretty. *shrugs*

Rimmer will be delighted!
