Actually the above article states that "only 11.1 percent of phones shipped in 2006 had GPS", which is a little bit less than "most/all"...

I think you guys are confusing how the system currently works, currently MOST tracking is done via GSM triangulation, as opposed to GPS triangulation.

Also, don't forget that Enhanced 911 only applies in the US, not everywhere else, hence my response of "you're full of shit" to an article that was claiming that most/all of the word's mobiles had GPS...

I mean shit, it took them to lose something staggering like 30% of their browser market share before they "innovated" some "ground-breaking" features like tabs. Microsoft couldn't innovate themselves out of a paper bag not because they can't, but because they won't:

Their software is a classic example of design by committee, cater to the lowest common denominator, technically incompetent, near-sightedly project managed software.

Oh, and to all those people complaining about downloaders? Look at it like this - those people weren't going to be customers anyway, so it's no lost revenue. I remember making this argument back when I was a poor student, (96 or so) and we had pirated cable tv (it was there when we moved in). I remember making the argument that I don't like having cable enough to pay for it, so if pirating were 100% impossible, I'd just live without it and read more or something. That's the fundamental problem with all of this sort of discussion - the assumption on the part of copyright owners that just because I like something well enough to read/listen to/watch it, I like it enough to pay for it.
And that's why for Microsoft, piracy = market penetration = profit

Well, the point I'm trying to make is if I DID have $7400 US to blow on an editing station, I'd do that. But since I don't, I can build a:

    1 x quad core $339 AUS
    1 x good mobo $180 AUS
    4 x 1 GB DDR2 $260 AUS
    1 x RAID card $200 AUS
    3 x 750 GB SATA 2 $690 AUS
    1 x vid card $300 AUS
    1 x sound card $100 AUS

frankenmac for a total of: $2069 AUS or ~ $1779 US

Considering that in terms of performance this is still leaps and bounds above the Macbook pro (core duo version) that we use for editing, I think I'll stick away from the highway robbery thanks.

Point I'm trying to make is apple really need to make a middle ground PC that isn't a monitor with stuff attached.
