  1. Apple? on Creative Sued for Base-10 Capacities On HDD MP3 Players · · Score: 0

Presumably Apple and other makers of HDD/flash based mp3 players will be the next target.

It'll be interesting to see if they lose too.

  2. Re:Shitty web design is not a "blind" problem on Do the Blind Deserve More Effort on the Web? · · Score: 0

More or less right, flash is totally unnecessary.

However, we should all be using xhtml 1.0 strict. :p

There's a much larger problem here. Namely, that people code crap website.

Now, the sensible thing is to just ignore the crap sites that don't validate.

However, browsers implement grim hacks and workarounds to make it all work. Thus there is no incentive to code decent sites.

All future browsers should just refuse to render pages that do not validate.

Labelling all black Americans as "African-Americans" seems shortsighted and as racist as many other alternatives.

    Not really.

You have no idea what is going on.

I would imagine the US government would censor videos if people protested the Bush regime and called for , say ... New York, to be released from US rule.

The fact is, that you have no idea if the Dalai Lama is a terrorist or not.

Even more relevently, the Tibetians are causing civil unrest, and these videos provoke ignorant people into supporting them..

Don't buy into the hype, theres a lot here that we don't know about, have no right to judge or interfere in.

  7. Re:how about passing laws that have some... on State Lawmaker Wants To Ban Anonymous Posting Online · · Score: 0

I would argue there are no fundamental rights.

    Instead, we have priviledges.

The priviledge of free speech is something we should be thankful for, the priviledge of having privacy in our lives should be appreciated too.

The fact that the internet by design makes you anonymous should not be abused.

The point is, abusing the anomymity of the internet to send say, a death threat, in no way makes it ok.

The problem is that people treat the internet as a juvenile playground.

Clearly the best solution is to just stop idiots using the internet. ;)

(I realise this removes 4chan ... oh well.)

  11. Species or subspecies? on Giraffes May Be Six Separate Species · · Score: 0, Redundant

Something doesn't add up in this article. It's missing a few details.

The *definition* of a species is that the members of it can breed and produce *fertile* offspring.

The article could perhaps be mixing up "species" and another term, (perhaps "breed"?) or omitting to mention that offspring produced are infertile.
