This debate is more equivalent to changing your Ford engine for a VW engine and then trying to get it serviced at a Ford dealer. I haven't tried it but I doubt Ford will really honor your warranty if you do make such a change.
Now that was one of the worst car analogies I've heard.
Sometimes though, when you think you're being all smart, and you've formatted your USB-drive to FAT so you can use it easily in both Linux and windows. Then you start copying your DVD images or mkv / x264 movies onto the drive. 4 GB later: "out of disk space". "Huh? But this USB stick is like 16 GB! wait... DOH!"
The 4 GB file size limit can be a bit of a hassle at times.
Theists are always using the wrong arguments when the try to disprove atheists. They're all about how well bananas fit in the hand and whatnot. That kind of stuff is easily explained by evolution.
Now this, on the other hand, is a good argument. We're all equipped with unique signatures for easy identification, and not only that. We leave a trail where ever we've been so we can be tracked using the same unique identifiers. They provide no apparent benefit, the identification/tracking part can clearly not be attributed to evolution since we figured out how to use it only a couple of thousand years ago.
Now why do we have unique identifiers that also allows us to be tracked easily?
I'm an atheist, but this is the kind of stuff that makes the debate interesting.;) (I guess it's a "good" argument for intelligent design, but not really for an omnipotent, omniscient deity)
Is Russia really considered autocratic? I don't know what the state of the democracy is there, but really, autocratic? Any Russian people here who could comment on that?
This problem has nothing to do with open source. You can never trust a client, whether the game is closed or open source. The problem is just less apparent, but just as real when it comes to closed source games.
I had friends changing the models in the original quake (before it was open source) with completely white ones to make enemies easier to spot.
If you really want to avoid wall-hacking (seeing enemies through walls) etc. you'll have to make sure that that the sever simply doesn't provide the client with the coordinates of enemies she can't possibly see.
There are lots aim bots and wall hacks etc. (if not only?) for closed source games, including quake- and half life-/source-based ones.
To reiterate my point: you can never ever trust a client application. All information you provide a client with can be displayed, in any manner, on the client machine.
I wish that were true. PSGL (PS3) is based on OpenGL ES rather than OpenGL, and has shader support through nvidia CG, not GLSL. Also, it's mostly there for convenience. Any serious game engine would have to go through the native/low level graphics library for PS3: libgcm.
Are you sure? I'm no expert, but the magnetosphere extends about 70,000 km, or 10-12 Earth radii at its "thinnest" (facing the sun), according to the wikipedia article. The moon is about 384,403 km, or 60 Earth radii from our beloved planet. That would put the moon well out of the magnetosphere (whenever it's not in the "tail" part).
Are you saying that almost half of the world's population is infertile, or that more than half of the world's population is capable of parthenogenesis?
What about latency and reliability? I'm happy with 3.6 Mbit/s, or even lower, if I get a reliable connection with low latency. Rock solid 512 kbit/s with 20 ms latency would be preferable to anything available in the mobile market right now.
Just curious, but at what point is Microsoft no longer considered a monopoloy? At what percentage are they legally allowed to start pulling the dirty tricks again?
when they no longer conspire to dominate the market through misconduct.
That is neither a legally valid nor a very good definition of a monopoly. By it, most companies, including my own, would be monopolies.
I love the way the editor manages to, not only call the promising young scientist a "chick", but also fail to mention her name (which is Nicole Kuepper, by the way).
What's wrong with having robots do boring tasks for us while we're doing something fun and/or useful? Hell, isn't that the whole point?
When I'm signing my next VISA receipt It'll look something like this:
1 Guinness .... $5
Total .............. $5
Tip:
$ 2^63

A DX2, at 266 MHz, in the early 90s? If this is an Intel 486 we're talking about I think you've gotten the numbers a bit wrong. Mine ran at 33 MHz.
I'm all for bashing ms but this sounds like a pretty big number to me.

Yes, you're right. I just said that this argument makes more sense to me than for instance the banana argument.
It was just an example really. But you're right. Not all theists reject evolution and not all atheists accept it.

All newer bethesda games use the gamebryo engine. Did you think they wrote all their games from scratch, every time? :)

No.... we're not "better," just much less likely to use them against others. I guess it may be a fine distinction, but I think its there.
You're kidding, right? The only two nuclear bombing attacks in history were made by the wester world. The USA to be specific.

The magnetic field extends infinitely into space, the magnetosphere doesn't.

I see AssaultCube as a tag but not as a comment. Looks like an alright counter strike-like game from the videos / screen shots.

True that. Depends on the world age distribution I guess.

Can't decide which.

Have you tried running windows 2000 with 64MB RAM?
No, IEEE 802.11 is not Ethernet. They are both standards in the Data Link Layer of the OSI model.

Wow. You actually got Score: 5, Funny using an old meme, "your" instead of "you're" and people aren't even complaining about it!
You must be god.
