I don't know if those apple products is actual product placement. (Some times the logo is even covered with a postit)
Apple products jump into screen without you noticing it. that is something a Microsoft product never does, because they really focus on it and give it a lot of screen time.
Have you never noticed that nearly all computer product placement in television shows is by the hand of Microsoft?
They've tried to push Windows 8, Windows Phone and the Surface tablet like this. And they still don't sell nearly as well as Android or iOS devices.
Yeah, exactly.
When people bitch about JavaScript it's mostly about the DOM api or the browser inconsistencies.
Or they're confused about the loose typing and prototypal inheritance.
How is it flaky? The DOM API might be a mess, but Javascript itself is a nifty little versatile language.
Or are we bitching about the loose typing again?
It's the same in Belgium. For a topup of 15 euros I get 1gb of data, 1000 sms and 1 hour of calls to make.
Belgium is actually one of the most expensive countries in the EU of mobile phone subscriptions, and this one I have is the cheapest of the lot.
I always found it fascinating you have to pay to receive a message in the U.S. People would scream bloody murder over here. The EU has even made some laws as to how much a text message can cost.
What the hell are you talking about? Someone attacked you because you spoke with a Dutch accent in Flanders?
Bad Flanders!
You know, I was assaulted by a few Turkish kids once, too. Following your logic, I guess they're all bad, too.
Indeed, it's stupid to think speaking the same language is enough to bind a country. The opposite does seam more likely, though.
Anyway, as nice as Dutch people are, there are immense differences between us.
And when Belgium finally does split I don't want to trade one monarchy for another...
Exactly! We don't want any of that "this content is not available in your region" crap. Delayed distribution used to be a geographical obstacle, now that we have finally found a way to get rid of it they're doing their best to implement it.
I love file sharing, what do I care if it ever loses its "socially acceptable" status?
The masses are asses, even lots of slashdotters and redditors don't understand us.
Did taping only occur in Belgium?
Because I'm from Belgium and I also justify my downloading habits by explaining how I used to tape songs and tv-shows and such
My opinion about every kind of media:
If you CAN make money out of it, that's nice.
If people are sharing your work for free, that's great (and a lot of publicity)!
If someone ELSE is making money out of your work, that's illegal!
Actually, in Europe, this "summer time" was designed to give us more light, not DST.
Since I was replying to "self assembled struc"'s post, which explained why technically DST is coming to an end and not beginning, I didn't think it was necessary to explain this concept again.
No, I said others want to cancel DST, summer time.
And then I said I actually like it, having more light at the end of the day.
I never said I wanted it gone.
That's true, and in Belgium lots of people have said they wanted to cancel DST, summer time.
I actually rather have more light at the end of the day then in the beginning. Winters are so depressing.
I'm part of this group (called Kipdola) consisting out of actors who make videos as a hobby.
To liven up our stories we like to add a bit of background music, put a bit of the Dune soundtrack under exciting bits and all.
This, of course, results in our videos being a copyright violation. To legalise them we would have to pay up to thousands of euros license fees. Our national RIAA counterpart (With the evil-sounding name of "Sabam") told us we'd be better, and cheaper, of by hiring a composer to make the music ourselves.
Come on! It's just a hobby, our content is up on youtube, but by the book it's still "illegal".
I'd like to do this without having to worry about license fees and such!
Oh no, there's no judging here! I had a similar experience with an "old friend" of mine last year. I always felt awkward for "violating her privacy" but, dammmmnnnn, the things I found out were totally crazy.
After that we lived together for another 6 months in complete silence.
*I* would look at you like a lunatic!
Although these laws have existed for quite some time, haven't these only started to cause trouble in the last few years? (Since the popularity of the internet and such)
Think about it, my parents (and even myself, in my 10 first years on this world) mostly "taped" music from the radio. People didn't copy music then because they didn't know how or didn't have the equipment, not because they thought it was "wrong" to do so.
If you didn't have money you had a medium-quality audio rip, if you did, you bought them on vinyl, cassettes or, later on, CDs
Music as a property is just as ridiculous as all the other IP stuff.
I believe that when you do it for the money, you do it for the wrong reasons. In my eyes such music also loses all its value.
So, this advice has popped up numerous times by now, it might be wise to keep this in the back of your mind, but just "stop worrying" about this is plain stupid.
I, for one, am saddened that my parents and my grandparents don't have as many pictures as I do, and especially that they don't have ANY video's! I would have loved to see how they lived 50 or 20 years ago, respectively.
All I have now are stories, and that's one medium that will definitely fade away.

I'm ashamed of Belgium, too. I'm proud to be from Flanders, though ;)

Well said!
Exactly, they would have fallen flat on their face. Or at least, I would hope so. You never know these days. These stories make me miserable.
Most non-Belgians don't understand why you would put mayonnaise on your fries because mayonnaise in other countries are mostly void of taste.
Exactly! We don't want any of that "this content is not available in your region" crap. Delayed distribution used to be a geographical obstacle, now that we have finally found a way to get rid of it they're doing their best to implement it.
Exactly, why are they so reluctant to do this? It seems very reasonable, god knows what other shit we're paying for.
I love file sharing, what do I care if it ever loses its "socially acceptable" status? The masses are asses, even lots of slashdotters and redditors don't understand us.
it's not hard to grasp, I just don't agree with it. I want OS X, I don't want Mac hardware, I should be able to buy them separately.
Someone that gets it! I'm often amazed by the amount of people who believe it's Apple's right to shut out the competition like this.

Strangely enough that makes a lot of sense.
