I didn't read all of the posts here but many people are referring to local mass transit issues. Obama's plan is a regional mass transit solution. For people that need to get to major cities within a region. I think it's a good idea however I'm worried about the actual viability of the solution. I could see California and the New York/DC Corridor having one but some of the others I'm not so sure of. This is also coming from a person living in the south.
actually it really depends on the level of the network your refering to... As all connections are shared at one point or another.
DSL is shared at the DSLAM. If you had or have less people on the DSLAM then you can get your max thru put. DSLAM's connected to the provider/CO which then a bunch of DSLAMs are connected to the providers network ( I hope you see the bottle neck effect).
T-1's are connected to the provider (the provider's network at that point is shared as they have a big pipe (maybe with QoS) to share with all of it's customers and a T1 has reliability and stability for "business" needs.
This is very generalized but none the less how it works. And yes everyone shares bandwidth at some point along the way.
Looks like they are making a truly converged platform. From phones to tv to computers, all linked via "OSX". OSX is not more of a platform with the same API's, core subsystems, etc... May be they should buy (Merge with) Nintendo
If they are "Holding their Wii's" then, it's good plan as they will sell it friday or the day after. The quanity is so little that it doesn't matter. However if they have some stock on Friday then "word of mouth" will help them, as other stores sell out more quickly. Their non-traditional customer may become repeat in the following days looking for thier "Wii". As for pissing off traditional customers, the traditional customers already know they don't have any now, but there is a very good chance they can get their early on "Black Friday" to pick one up. As GameStop is not the destination of the the "Masses" (aka Wally World). Getting there earlier and picking up a "Wii" should be quick and painless.
I'm rambling at dinner sorry..:D I'm getting my son a cheap gamecube for christmas...so in a year or so I can get him the Wii v2....PS2 is just alittle to mature for him...
Sony still has a chance. The race for the home media server and portable media devices are just now getting underway. Apple was great at branding and marketing the iPod but this is just the first round of a very long fight between many different companies.
Lets just hope standards win out and we are not suck in with another Microsoft.
I think they will end up buying their future via acquisition, then doing it in a inhouse manner as repeated here and everywhere, they can't come up with a solid software stack for the Home Media market. They have the tools and know how but molding that into a viable product that will compete and be sucessful is where they are are currently having problems.
I'm can't say for sure but I believe that certain groups are trying to push more dominance then viability....Being late to the mp3 market proves this...
I think Sony and Toshiba are runing the Fab together.. But I would not say they are not buying some from IBM. I would actually think that they would buy the initial bunch of cell procs from IBM until they get their line up and running.
This seems a little slim to me. I'm not up on the expected lifetime of OLED tech but I hope it has a nifty sleep function. Because 5000 is just over 200 days of contiuous use. How many of us keep our computers running all the time....
Google may loose the court battle. However they have won over the public with their initial refusal. They have maintained their "Good Guy" status. Now if they do win then that is just gravy marketing-wise. Under the social issues, i can't speak as I'm not sure why the government wanted to the information they requested and i'm not sure what informtion was requested.
Does the "Core Duo" processor include the Vaderpool virtualization extensions. And if Xen is able to use Vanderpool to transparently support WindowsXP/2003 then, would using Xen be the best way to go, with out having to deal with the Boot issue.
I always thought that for big sites or complex applications that PHP would be great as a presentation layer and Java (ie servlets) would be great as the business logic and DB access. I would rather have java servlet handling complex logic on the backend then a php script.
Clienets/Customers normally do not care what the DB the application they have purchased uses, as they are really wanting the application and the features of the application as their business deems it necessary. IT does care but sometimes do not get a choice or the choice is limited, depending on what DB's the application supports.
I really agree with you in that the users do not work with them directly. I do wonder if commercial application providers will either port or develop their applications on pgsql. If the market takes that position then OS DBs market could get great boost.
Standardized toolset for commercial applications..

Is SUN attempting to add pgsql as a standard tool for their platform? Will software companies (commercial/proprietary) port/develop for this platform? Is the market asking for a low-cost DB to replace MS SQL or small Oracle/DB2 installs?
6) ActiveX. The unsafe system by which 90% of spyware, adware, trojans, porn diallers etc. enter your system. Guess which browser has ActiveX turned on by default? Yes, IE. Firefox doesn't support ActiveX because it's just too bloody dangerous.
Europe getting the xbox before Japan, probably is an attempt to get more europeans to purchase the xbox, since Europe is the 3rd largest region as far as game console sales. Europe could also be seen as having more potential to win over new consumers.
Just my reasoning after briefly scanning thru the article.
Government provided social assistance is in place to assist the people the government is working for. Government is in the service of the people. So we are basically helping ourselves. Charity in my belief is when you assist others. Where private assistance is very abundant here in the US.
Since it's called talk.google.com I wonder if this will also be the enterance into VoIP services? I would think Google is in a good position to cash in on their brand and start a VoIP company using the IM services as a stepping stone to gain members.
But I guess we will see tomorrow or when ever they release it.

WP4...WP3 for Mac was my favorite....
Actually due to the bus differences...Intel is going to a HT-like bus instead of sticking with there current bus.
As it also depends on what is turned on and what is turned off.
Still an apples to oranges comparison..

If the source screen you are magnifing is 4096*2160 then it should be possible.
you forgot to send the 'helo ' or 'ehlo ' first... :)
