Yes, the handwriting is on the wall -- FreeBSD is dead...dead easy to install even though it is doesn't have a gooey installer.

So, what you are saying is that you are willing to sacrifce long-term diversity for your short-term convenience? You might want to re-evaluate that plan. While diversity may make your sad life less complicated, you need to realize that it is the best thing for the future.
And, yes, MS is an "illegal monopoly", and yes being such means that they must follow a different set of rules than non-monopolizers -- even if it makes your pathetic life harder.

What, and you don't think that Windows has an incredibly high budget? I would even guess that it is higher that Xbox's -- it is the core of their business after all.
I'm not in favor of the "penny-per-page" system. I was merely pointing out the fact that it would be silly to charge Google since they generate traffic to the sites that would be charging.

And no, I'm not going to define search engine for you, you pedantic fuck.
I've used both USB(1.0), and Firewire drives under Linux, and I can assure you that Firewire is *much* faster. The Firewire transfer rate was similar to IDE/SCSI whereas the USB was dreadfully slow.
It takes a little effort to get the Firewire stuff working, but it is definetly worth it!

BTW, check out Cool Drives for inexpensive enclosure kits (USB & Firewire).
Very true. Power management can really screw with Linux if it is not configured properly. It is best to turn off all power management except DPMS.
I've had this problem recently with my new machine (Soyo Dragon KT266/1.4 T-bird). It affected Windows as well. Afer I turned PM off I didn't have any more problems.
The one thing that will consistently, legitimately lock Linux hard in my experience is 3d video games. (Again same problem in Windows). Luckily this shortcoming won't affect a server.
Also, many times people will mistake an X11 lock-up for a Linux lockup. These can usually be cleared with a CRL-ALT-BACKSPACE. If that doesn't work, you can ssh into the machine and kill X remotely.
If there is only one form on a web page, a simple "enter" keystroke will perform a submit.

I would imagine that search engines like Google would be exempt from this sort of thing.
If the the search engine can't afford to index your page, nobody will ever see it, and you won't make your penny.
It should be the web sites paying Google for the service they provide, not the other way around.
