I suspect we can blame the entertainment mafiaa for this one - Google Play sells movies and TV and the studios want to control access by geo-location to content.
Yeah, like Samsung or most other manufacturers. But that was before Apple "innovated" their non-removable batteries and the other techno-lemmings (such as LG) followed them off the cliff.
Here's a thought - instead of soldering batteries onto the phones circuit board, build in a battery holder and a door so that users can replace them. I call this idea "removable batteries" and may patent it.
Way back in the prehistoric days of PDA, Nokia made a couple of awesome little Linux based PDA's. If they want to make something beyond the standard Android phone, they should do a Linux based phone that can also plug into a dock and function as a full desktop. Perhaps partner with Canonical using their software base.
1) Ran update - it downloaded 3GB of stuff, ran for a while and stalled at 0% complete 2) Restarted PC and update - ran for a long time (unattended) and rebooted... back into (un-updated) original Windows. 3) Repeat above (update downloaded 3GB AGAIN) - but watched. After 2nd reboot showed (briefly) blue screen complaining about driver issue (using stock Dell drivers) and then automatically rolled back to original Windows 10, & rebooted 4) Updated ALL Dell drivers from Dell site. 5) Ran update again and yes again it downloaded 3GB of stuff and again failed with same blue screen.
I think I'll wait a few weeks (months?) till MS (hopefully) FIXES their update.
With a few exceptions (perhaps rush hour commuter buses in large cities without subway / light rail) - municipal buses have no future. Expect them to be replaced by Uber-like apps combined with self-driving vehicles.
Chicago public schools have a graduation rate of below 70%. They'd be better off making sure their students had a grasp of fundamental skills than adding additional CS requirements to graduation.
I do a lot of driving out in the forests and rural areas with GPS for navigation. I've noticed that I often need to be sure to set the GPS for Shortest Time rather than Shortest Distance. Setting the GPS to Shortest Distance can result in the GPS directing me via routes like 'Forestry Road #13' or worse.
The other thing I've noticed is that I can start a trip in town using my phone GPS and get directions to a rural location (actually hiking trailhead) and then on return be somewhere with no cell signal and be unable to get return directions.
I now travel with smart phone, stand-alone car GPS, and a paper map. I've occasionally had to resort to the paper map.
Convicted? MS settled with the DOJ and the terms of the settlement have expired.

Nothing wrong with Hillary that can't be fixed by more RAM and a firrmware upgrade.
LG Nexus 5X does not

I have zero interest in owning an electric car. Come back when cheap mass-produced ultra-capacitors are available and I'll reconsider.

'Compiler' you say, yeah about that ... https://www.ece.cmu.edu/~gange...
The problem will solve itself as more and more consumers "cut the cord" dropping cable and switching to streaming.
Or a capsule?
Also Stephenson: 'Snow Crash' and 'Diamond Age'
Why would anyone use Windows for a real-time critical application? There are small real-time OS's designed just for such applications.
Division of Umbrella Corp? Just asking ...
I want the service where a drone refuels my car ... while I'm driving.

The buildings owned by the wealthy and (presumably) politically powerful are exempt from this mandate. Inexplicable!
If you count discouraged workers, then the unemployment numbers are still REALLY bad -

Took a few tries but after the phone got a text message the FBI finally figured out the pin was 'SHER'.

Nope - mesh network. Just stand within 10 cm of other users. Perfect for the Tokyo subway system during rush hour.
