Streaming music from the internet, amazing. Why would I pay 10 cents for something that is easy to find for free. The majority of new albums that come out have free streams. Personal copies are the hard part.
I'm fairly certain there are licensing issues or something. I don't think they can get any band they want. If they could, not having Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd would be an even bigger tragedy. That said, AC/DC was made for this game. I want Angus to be an unlockable character.
A filename by the name of "rapeMe" is far easier to find when you need id than the same file, but named "rU2:s" don't you think? So when I put my Nirvana collection on P2P it won't be the RIAA knocking down my door?
If I'm not mistaken, the point of education is to gain knowledge and understanding of a subject. I never understood professors who made homework a sizable amount of you total grade. If I can prove on an exam or final project that I understand the material, who cares how I did on the homework. I believe that homework is a learning tool. Making students desperate to have correct answers on their homeworks hurts their ability to take the time to understand their homework and the material covered in it.
Private electric utilities are not the same as a private German train company. Private utilities are given an incentive to improve their infrastructure to avoid the kind of problems you claim are caused by privatization. Private utilities earn a rate of return from their customers on every improvement they make to their infrastructure. This rate of return is closely regulated by FERC.
Also, accepting faults is a very necessary part of power engineering. The majority of faults are temporary transients. You wouldn't want the station breaker to trip out every time a branch brushes the line.
The real story here is Nintendo's customer service. I had an original gameboy in which 4 rechargeable batteries had basically exploded. I thought it was completely broken so I called Nintendo and they replaced it no questions asked. I didn't even have to send them the broken one, which I tried a few years later and it still worked.
They'll just tell you whatever they think you want to hear. It's not like any of these people truly believe in anything "He's a nihilist dude, he believes in nothing!"
In a very strict sending power wirelessly is more efficient than sending it on a wire. In air power lost at 1/d^2 where d = distance. On wires, power is lost as a function of an inverse exponential e^-d. The inverse exponential drops at a much quicker rate. I believe the problem comes in that this equation is based on all the power being radiated in a very specific narrow band. If you have to radiate the power in all directions you end up losing a lot more.
5. You're right that there is usually a daily peak at night and in certain areas the winter peak exceeds the summer peak. In my part of the country, we had traditionally been a winter peaking area but this has been exceeded by summer peaking due to air conditioning becoming more prevalent. It's important remember too that winter peaks are more manageable for utilities without increased generation. Why? Because every part of the power system runs more efficiently in cold temperatures. Lower losses equal less needed generation.
I miss the days when listening to an album was an experience. This was because the artist carefully crafted the album to create a mood or feeling. Many artists would write 40 songs and turn 10 into an album. Now they write 2 songs and fill in the others with generic three chord rock songs about how they once knew a girl and something happended.
I am hoping that the death of the album is a good thing. The last thing we need is another Nickelback album. The death of the current market structure and format can only give the artist more freedom to be creative and that's what I really miss about mainstream music.
Until then, I'll keep looking for those indie bands that get it and keep listening to my King Crimson albums on my headphones.
Homer: Not a bear in sight. The "Bear Patrol" is working like a charm! Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad. Homer: [uncomprehendingly] Thanks, honey. Lisa: By your logic, I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away. Homer: Hmm. How does it work? Lisa: It doesn't work; it's just a stupid rock! Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you? Homer: (pause) Lisa, I want to buy your rock.
Actually DC current is more efficient than AC in transmitting power due to there being no reactive component of the power. The main problem with DC is that it cannot be transformed to higher voltages which save a lot of energy losses. There is actually a very long DC transmission line to California that uses DC power. They convert to AC at the end of the line. AC is also a much safer means for transmitting power. It is nearly impossible to extinquish a fault on a DC line because the voltage never reaches a zero point. Protection devices on AC lines rely upon the zero point to extinquish faults.
Too bad oxygen ruins beer.
Same here, ipod classic. No problems.

NBC.com has all their recent shows timeshifted for you on their website. Though the quality sucks and the player is a pain.
I need my Tom Bombadil fix.
It would take more than one tower. The grid has redundant paths, and each one can pick up quite a bit of slack.
Offensive to Oregon beer and to women. Good work.
To send them to prison don't you have to charge them as adults, thus setting off a never ending chain of circular logic.

I mean look at Keith Richards. That will probably only be a fraction of his lifetime.

You are partially right, but they are only paying Federal incom taxes because Washington doesn't have a personal state income tax.
The Mitt abides.

Does anybody remember that sweet 3D interface the girl used in Jurassic Park to lock the doors and protect them from the dinosaurs? Yeah.
