    I think, the reference to Transparent Aluminum is at least specified in ST:IV. while Transparisteel cannot be considered canon as is not referenced in any movie. Or is it?

    Anyway, Transparent Aluminium is almost a reality, as we've already seen.

    Maybe this discovery will give some credibility to the Star Wars Universe.

    But you had two registers (X and Y), and a stack accumulator (A) on chip! :-D

    The first assemby language I ever learn!!

    Back in the days, I teach myself ASM 6502, that, together with the book "Atari Mapping", and I was able to do fun stuff my "other" nerd friends woudn't even dream of, all on an Atari 800XL.
    Want more colors than the 4 you can get on this graphics mode? Bam! here you go! 256 colors (but only up to 4 by scan line, changing the color palette on DLI... but that was the magician's secret :-) )

    I was 15 by that time, and this little Atari, and it's simple, easy and straight forward assembly language began to forge the computer engineer I am today.
    Atari inc. has a very special place in my nerdy heart.

    Same here.
    N97 mini + PuTTY + WiFi/EDGE/3G.
    Not such a big screen or resolution, but I have done wonders through it during emergencies. (8.8 earthquake anyone?)

    Down here we're also beaten by Dicken's work, but that's just because we are constantly being bombarded by "American" Culture and "culture".


    Guess why "American" is between quotes? And why there are two kinds of culture? ;-)

    Anyway, I also never understood why we're also condemned to see "The Sound of Music" over and over again for Christmas. "Jesus of Nazareth" during Easter I can understand... but "The sound of music" for Xmas?????

    Have you ever heard the term "suspension of disbelief".

    We geeks like to talk and discuss about these kind of things like they existed, but we are all really aware of what is real and what is fiction, thank you!.

    Still, you have to thank us, guys with true imagination and the ability to dream while awake, for almost every piece of tech you are enjoying today, form cell phones, to CAT scans.

    But, still, you have to be very careful who are you ridiculing (sp?)...

    It is so much different to laugh at a pointy ears skinny dude than a 2 meter (aprox. 7 feet) ridged headed guy... with an attitude.

    Also, if you see the glitch at 2:21, you can see that he is not even moving on the same part of the room shown at us.

    I think he has a camera pointing in one direction and the Kinect pointing to another, so he is actually projecting the Kinect volume info over an arbitrary image with a cool effect, he is not really cloaking against his background.
    Not much of a difference with current blue/green screen effects. Final result is exactly the same.

    NASA will have to change its ways on looking for life out there, but not real news, not worthy of a pre-annouce anyway.

    Or it might be a very lame announcement like: "we have discovered a new way to SEARCH for life using blahblahmetry, so we're going to start using this new techniques in our next probes"
    This is very close to: "astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence...."

    Or... is something amazing we're about find out within the recent Wikileak

    I agree with you in the controllers. We had all the tech, but no one glued it together the way Nintendo did.

    On the other hand GP was talking about the iPod, not the iPhone. Today almost everywhere people talk about iPod as a generic term referring to mp3 players. Truth is, the iPod came out years after consumer - portable - mp3 players where popular. That's good Marketing!

    There was an animated series about the Doc and his kids travelling on the time-train. Never seen it, but I guess it was child-centered, so I don't think these issues were even explored.
