Aye, I've always preferred fingerpicking myself when it comes to actual guitar. I find I can't move my fingers fast enough to play songs on Guitar Hero that I can play well on guitar though *sigh*
Some of the songs on Guitar Hero are actually more difficult to play on Expert than they would be on a real guitar (at least that's what I find, yes IAAG). I'm serious about that. I think a lot of that is just down to having to have the timing so precise, whereas irl you can get away with a bit of artistic license if you know what you're doing:) I always found Guitar Hero more difficult due to the fact that where you would be plucking strings on a normal guitar you can get off quite a few different notes without having to move your left hand, as opposed to moving your left fingers wildly all over the place for each different note. I've never had a problem with the timing;)
I may be being overly pedantic here but I don't think the WoW episode of South Park was really meant for WoW players to enjoy. They got so many things horrendously wrong I couldn't even begin to list them:P
385 square miles with a population of 1,232,940 vs 142.5 square miles with a population of 582,174 = lower population density. I can see how that might be referred to as a 'smaller' place.:)
But, unlike the US, in the UK you have a *choice*.
If Eclipse is doing that to you, get the fuck off their service and use Be or something. The only thing most companies understand is money, take yours away from them.
I've often wondered why insurance works like this. Surely if you're insuring your car you're insuring IT against other people's stupidity, not other people's cars against your own? If YOU have insurance and you get in accident with some idiot who doesn't, your insurance should pay for your car and he's the one who should get fucked over. This whole backwards system makes no sense to me.
as part of this younger generation I dunno about PDA's or unauthorised software but I do know I spend more time on/. than I do working...
OTOH, my colleagues around the same age as me most likely don't even know what a PDA is, and installing software of any kind themselves? Out of the question.
In a game like DDR, the player is not in control of the playback at all and must simply react, but in GH the player can play notes at any time whether the game prompts him for it or not.
That would be Donkey Konga you're thinking of, trying to play notes in Guitar Hero that the game's not prompting you to play results in a loss of points/note streak and a nasty noise which is the same no matter which button you press. Monotone nasty noises != notes/music.
Guitar Hero 1: Gibson SG controller. Guitar Hero 2: Gibson Explorer controller. Guitar Hero 3: Gibson Les Paul controller.
Plus the fact that every single guitar modelled in every single game is a Gibson, I'm pretty sure they endorsed these games and I have no idea what the hell they think they're doing throwing this patent around now. IANAL, but I don't think they've got a leg to stand on here.
>3: There must be some damage to the seller if the product is being downloaded and no monetary compensation for the production of the good is received.
Think of it in terms of free publicity. No-one's going to buy an entire CD just because of one song they happen to like on it, that would be a waste. They *will* however, download the entire album to see if they like the other songs. They like the other songs, they become a fan of the artist, artist goes on tour, makes millions in ticket sales and merchandise from the people who became fans by filesharing.
Heck, more than half of the bands I listen to (and go see, and buy merchandise from) I would never have heard of if it wasn't for filesharing.
When I say throttling I mean of the kind where it actually becomes impossible to play games (3000ms and constant DC's during peak times when I was using Sky Broadband - not good for a main tank when peak times coincide with raid schedules). Sure, without throttling on Be at peak times people don't get their full 24mbps, but the drop is barely noticeable and only really affects torrents, not games. Who cares if your downloads drop a bit during peak times? Most people will leave them running overnight anyway.
I'm not sure if you were attempting to be funny or being serious, so I'm gonna assume the latter and explain that the "fair usage policy" is something 90% of UK ISP's put in their fine print so that they can throttle heavy users during peak hours without them complaining.
I'm in Derby and using Be over here too, they ARE using BT's hardware unfortunately but as far as I can tell they're not playing by BT's rules. (I'm actually getting the unlimited 24mbps that I paid for for once, unlike every other ISP that's choked me at peak times.)
Supposed to be. I agree that as a general rule groups of teenagers turn into mindless vandals trying to look cooler than the rest of said vandals, creating a downward spiral of obnoxiousness. These devies are supposed to be used only now and again, after said teenagers have grouped up and need to be dispersed, but the McDonald's in my nearest town has one of these just outside it and it's on constantly.
That's not just affecting the teenagers, it's affecting every single child younger than that who even walks anywhere near it. Parents take their babies inside and even though the child's crying, they don't know why because they can't hear it and cannot stop it. Are you trying to justify torturing innocent babies?
That's some good reading skills you got there.

Who was that man? I'd like to shake his hand.
Although it was funny, nonetheless.
aye, but he said a lockblade. Any folding knife that is lockable is illegal to carry in public, whether it's over 3 inches or not.
Funny. I don't feel oppressed. But I'm shit scared of going anywhere near America.
I can't speak for anywhere else, but it's illegal in England.
and, as I'm sure somebody else already mentioned, private healthcare in the UK is goddamned luxurious.

I'm not your fwend, buddy!
Hmmm, even the forced preview isn't enough to compensate for my lack of proofreading. - a 'their'
It may be trumpeted around the net but their if their users can't read it where's the problem? ;)
Ah, you must be new here. All *I* got from reading the /. headline was 'Comcast are evil, fire insults at will.'

Paragraphs, dude. Seriously.
