Obama profited from this greatly. Unemployment was so bad and went on so long, they were able to push people off the roles due to them 'giving up' on finding work. What a fantastic lie. 'If we fuck up for a long time, the number fixes itself!'
And yes, both side profit from this, Obama was just the most recent to be able to produce a number that was declining when in fact it was going up.
That's just a....strange thing to toss in there. It's meaningless. You need a full scale comparison, cost of maintenance, performance (still have to store that power somewhere) etc, etc, etc if you want to start talking numbers. It being cheaper to build...that's really a minor factor in the scheme of cost on a power plant.
You're utterly missing the point. A computer is all 1 & 0s. A person isn't. You cannot predict with any sort of certainty what a person will say when asked to give a number between 1 and 1000. Is it TRULY random? If you mean from a mathematical stand point, of course not. Is it unpredictable? You bet.
You can absolutely predict it with 100% certainty on a computer given the algorithm used.
These idea that a human mind is a 'computer on steroids' is ludicrous. As I stated before - you're watching too many movies if you think it's going to suddenly become 'self aware'. I don't care how super complex it gets. Code is code. It's not going to do anything you didn't give it the ability to do. Any 'improvisation' it displays is a parlor trick.
I am not debating computers may become dangerous under the current technology- it will, however, be due to code flaws or hostile external sources - not because the computer 'up and decided to kill someone'.
I've watched over the years as the word 'AI' has been hijacked.
They are knowledge systems. They are a bunch if/then/else branches running really fast. It's not intelligence. Period. There's isn't going to be some magical 'self awakening' (watching too many movies).
The computer still can't produce a true random number without some sort of quirk of the system being used. Why? Because it's still a bunch of 1 & 0's.
It will take a revolution in computer systems to create any kind of AI - not simply making it faster and faster.
Now robotics...yes...that's going to keep eliminating jobs. You can't stop it. All you can do is stay ahead of it. If your career goal is to flip hamburgers for a living...you're in trouble. The real fun is going to happen when they figure out how to build houses without all the labor....
Yeah, let's make the headline look like conservatives oppose higher education. Such BS. EVERYONE knows what kind of liberal indoctrination machine colleges have become. Professors regularly openly chastise conservatives students, bash conservative policies and in general push their liberal agenda. This is a fact. We all know it. Universities allow liberal groups to dictate to them, allow them to suppress free speech...the lists goes on.
You're damn right I'm opposed to my child going to a liberal university and, yeah, I think the fact the colleges are no longer a bastion of free speech or a place to openly discuss points of view you don't agree with is HIGHLY dangerous.
In never ceases to amaze me how liberals refuse to acknowledge what they are dong - suppressing speech they don't agree with. Period. End of story. You can color it anyway you like - but it's simply un-American. Toss the race card. Toss the hate card. Toss the violence card. The justification that ensues is mind boggling.
Honestly, if you can't understand how dangerous it is to raise a generation that isn't willing to listen to other points of view without responding with safe spaces, speech suppression or violence, I really don't have much use for you.. I think Russia would be more to your liking - because make no mistake, that's where you are steering this country.
As long as the government provides loans and there are other ways to get the money besides directly from the student, colleges will continue to live in an unrealistic bubble. They are pretty much as bad as doctors - 'If you pay for this, it's $100. If we file it with insurance, it's $1000'.
I'll take this over the 'we're all friends, stick my head in my own ass and sing lalalalalala' of the previous idiot in charge. The lunacy of just letting in the bad guys...do you people not watch what is going on over seas? You think that's not going to happen here? Most of these countries despise us and will always despise us - it's in their blood and their religion. They are not coming here to assimilate. They are coming here to supplant. Their values do not mingle with ours - to expect them to drop those values is stupid...and dangerous.
And no one said 'ban travel forever'. What the F is wrong with hitting the pause button and making sure these people aren't bad guys? Seriously? Get your head out of your ass.
So you libtards keep acting like the world is at peace - and when they start blowing shit up here, the blood is on YOUR hands.
My point exactly. The liberals responding to this post act like Sweden is a poster child (so many other factors at work here with them) but the key take away is NUCLEAR - something liberals aren't interested in. For one thing, they can make a lot more money dumping federal funds in to more Solera boondoggles.
- in 2016, the earth will be a frying pan (http://www.climatedepot.com/2016/01/26/jan-26-2016-is-al-gores-global-warming-doomsday/)
- in 1985, half the sunlight will be gone 'Life Magazine in 1970 reported that “by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half.” '
- by 2000, the world is going to collapse from over population (various sources, pick one)
- by 1975, most of the world will be starving (Peter Gunter, a professor at North Texas State University, in a 1970)
- by 2000, no more oil - UC Davis ecology professor Kenneth Watt: By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a ratethat there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, ‘Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, ‘I am very sorry, there isn’t any.'”'
So many more, but I'll stop. Point is, why would you believe anything they say?
As far as renewable...one hopes it will solve something..but right now, the only reason it even survives is due to subsidies (when it survives...how about all those failed Obama funded solar companies?) For every 'green' source out there, there are some large issues with it. None of them are as 'green' as they seem.
I'm sorry are you saying you spend 5x the effort stealing it? It's not interesting...it's pathetic. You know, Googling til you find a cracked copy/cracking tool isn't intellectual in the least - nor is stealing someones intellectual property.
Yes, let's find a single incident and focus on it. How many Tea Party rallies were violent? About zero. How many libtard rallies have turned to violence in the last six month? Half? More?
Give me a break. Where's the outrage on viral videos of black liberals beating up white conservatives? I can find a dozen on youtube...right now. You cannot find the opposite. Liberals are SOOO much more violent than the right - just look around.
The difference is pretty much half the liberal base is out there condoning violence on a regular basis. Look what happens on the college campuses - no one gets arrested for the violence. Liberal media pretty much ignoring the violent left protests. Politicians regularly using heated rhetoric. Is ti REALLY any surprise a liberal finally picked up a gun and started shooting people?
The left has long been accusing the right over the very thing they encourage their followers to do practically every day now - and justify it with they are 'right' and anyone that disagrees is raciest/violent/stupid/etc.
This post smells a bit. I'd like to some proof it actually occurred like this or that it occurred at all. The fact we've heard nothing indicates it was a small company - this isn't the sort of thing one keeps quiet. The lack of a functioning backup tends to also point at a small company.
The description is such a slam dunk in favor of the new guy and making out the CTO to be such an idiot...I dunno....I'm just skeptical at this point.
The rancor coming from what amounts to utter hearsay is...well actually, no, it's not surprising these days. Any sort of proof for people to pile on stopped being a requirement long ago - it won't surprise me if this is someone doing a social media experiment.
*yawn* I guess there are no evil liberals, huh? See, I can't take you seriously when you feel the need to take pot shots at one side but not the other.
My first piece of advice to up and coming techies when I've done Q&A is...'Don't ever forget that everything you post online is forever and your prospective employer WILL find it.'
Agreed - I've seen this going on in all gender, races, blah blah blah. A lot of people suck and there's no avoiding them in a corporate environment. They do just enough to not get fired but not enough you don't have to carry their water.
The only good thing I saw from a place I use to work - they put an end to 'coasting' in place and getting a 3% raise every year by putting a ceiling on every position. If you were over the band, you had six months to find a new position or have your salary reduced and frozen at the top end of the bracket.
That at least put an end to 'I'll just tread water here until I retire'.
You're leaving off 'and we have to worry about people killing us in most of those places'.
Sorry, we don't _want_ to be like you.
And keep dreaming - we are the only ones holding the wolves at bay. People like you, living in a fantasy land, make me WANT to completely pull out...from the UN, from NATO, from SK...let you sort your shit out and see how long you survive.
You've left off where you're from, but chances are, the only reason you aren't speaking Russian right now, is because of us.
Past that. Whatever. Everyone is throwing up a bunch of 'what if' and 'this is going to happen'. Give me a break. We want to the right to check you out IF we feel the need. About half the country kinda likes the idea of controlling who comes in. The other half have the heads in the sand.
Obama profited from this greatly. Unemployment was so bad and went on so long, they were able to push people off the roles due to them 'giving up' on finding work. What a fantastic lie. 'If we fuck up for a long time, the number fixes itself!'

Right. Co-operating with the Russian government is sooooo much better.
Seriously?

I had assumed he was making a joke to get a 'funny' rating. I certainly hope he wasn't serious.

Umm....I notice you're ignore that fact that Sweden gets a lot of it's power from Nuclear...something the Dem's won't allow.
Trump is hardly the issue here.
