Docking computers are for pussies. Real men dock by hand. Now excuse me while I go searching for a version of Elite and an emulator to run it on.
Elite is alive and well, and has evolved into what it should always have been. It's open-source and cross platform (Apple, Linux and that other thing). And the Blue Danube is still there.
In case you wondered, like I did, the GOP is apparently an acronym, Grand Old Party, ie the Republicans.
I know/. is US-centric, but, come on, give the rest of us a break and speak English! Thank GOD (not an acronym) for Google.
I use closed source nvidia drivers with no particular ethical issues.
Most linux users (more than 50%) would be perfectly happy if their favorite game
worked on linux whether it was closed source or open source, native linux or WINE.
Same here - I don't have a particular issue with closed-source. Indeed my browser-of-choice is the closed-source Opera. If it works I'm happy, and if it's free I'm happier still and more likely to use it.
"We're looking to have a conversation about how to get these perilous documents off the website as soon as possible, return them to their rightful owners and expunge them from their records." WikiLeaks, predictably, shows no sign of cooperating.
So if I understand extrapolation correctly, you are saying that any game anybody tries on Linus will work just fine.
Sadly not. Far too many games are produced by narrow-minded companies who can't be bothered to make their games work on all O/Ss. Their loss, of course, not mine, as I take the view "If they don't care about what I want, I don't care about what they're peddling."
If this is true it is very sad news. This probe had a lot of promise, and it's failure is to be regretted. Let's hope that JAXA is not put off trying other missions of this type...they deserve our support.
I can only agree. I switched from XP to Ubuntu about a year ago, and have never looked back. It's intuitive and easy to use and whilst not a Windows clone the (Gnome) desktop is clear and logical. It really does "Work out of the box". OK, I struggled a bit early on with some aspects (I wasn't used to the Command Line), but providing you set-up the computers with everything your family and friends need, and are prepared to visit them from time to time to install new stuff, you won't go far wrong.
They'll soon get used to the "New Look". Also they will immediately see the benefits (of Linux) such as the quick boot time, and in the long term, other benefits such as the lack of viruses etc will become clear.

Opera lets you sync your bookmarks.
Damn, I don't send any!
Can it be programed to remind you of your PIN?
You've never gone to a party with a coked-up 24-year-old redhead chick, have you?
Neither have you, really, have you? This is Slashdot!
It's actually kind of hilarious sometimes to see windows-style fake error messages when browsing in Opera on FreeBSD.
Yeah, love 'em. Opera/Ubuntu

I didn't have time to RTFA !

It makes you wonder how many American kids are mis-diagnosed as Obese just because they're even fatter than the rest of the kids in class!
But I don't mind...proud to be a Linux user.

Good.

I bet it's that guy next door with 12 million computers!
Says it all...

Linux is ... not Windows sans MS.
Good! If is was it'd be slow, juvenile and unreliable!
I didn't RTFA.....
You must be old here!
Now every search engine keeps second-guessing me. "Did you mean...?
Yeah, it's great. I can type any old s**t into Google and it knows exactly what I mean!
As a Linux user, does this mean I have to have a penguin-like avatar?
If you're fat? Yes.
OK, here's my avatar!

I didn't use to like skin cancer, but it grows on you
What do you do to stop the octopi from stealing the coconuts to live in?
Kick 'em in the tentacles!
