    Yes, it is a stupid question. But your answer was equally stupid. The smart answer is "no, but there should be a pure linux desktop." The difference is changing the phrase "the linux desktop" meaning all distributions to "a linux desktop" meaning that there should be a purist distribution for anyone who wants to be purist.

    Unless things have changed in the very recent, this is exactly what we have now.

    What I don't get here is why Yahoo! thinks that I can make a useful search system from their database when they themselves can't seem to. You know why I like google's search over yahoos? 'cause its better. Not 'cause it took me hundreds of hours to tweak it into producing results I like better.

    No, it really doesn't matter now, cause it already had the necessary impact. Microsoft has already realized that OOXML is unimplementable and is in the process of moving its own products into compliance with a specification that is actually implementable: ODF.

    Nothing. This is another example of the Bush administration supporting their loyal Ma Bells by acting in a hostile manner towards the telco's competitors, the cable companies. This is not sudden, and it is definitely not driven by common sense.

    Kevin Martin is owned and operated by the big telcos. The only reason that he is railing against the cable companies is because they threaten the business models of his puppet masters. He proves this to be the case every time he opens his mouth.

    Not really. If you can put 1000 cores on a processor, then I don't see why you cant put 100 or so layers of ram on there too. Eventually, it will becomea requirement to get the system to scale.

    replace hdd on macbook pro: You were thinking of a macbook pro, not a macbook. I know, I know, its stupid of apple to make two dissimilar models of the same basename, but they did it anyways. SO uh, the "pro" version of the mbp is much harder to replace the hdd than the non-pro. A T6 is an absolute must have tool. I just did this a couple of weeks ago. It was easy for anyone who's ever been inside a laptop before.
