4) Would a dating service for people on the net be "frowned upon" by DCA? I hope not. But even if it is, don't let that stop you from notifying me via net mail if you start one.
Yes mister Stallman. There are now many dating services for people on the net. I'm sure you've gotten plenty of unsolicited mail about them by now.
The Mafia existed long before the 1920's alcohol prohibition.
There would be no need for a "black market" if it was obviated by a good common market.
Business has no conscience and a higher rank in the pecking order. We've made sure of that by giving corporations higher legal rights than common living breathing individuals. That's not the say being "inherantly evil" but it's much easier for something with no conscience to be perceived that way, and actually be that way.
There are very few amicable deals. Most of the time someone is a loser, and the other person knows it. There isn't much truly voluntary trade left. Try to think of ANY transaction without some sort of rider or clause or parasitic condition that benefits the buyer more than the seller. You'll be hard pressed.
A Free Market is a great dream, but that's not what we have.
There is also the fact that Id develops all their games on UNIX then ports it to windows. Last time I checked, the d3d support in UNIX was pretty poor *cough*.
I can still remember WP for Linux. It wasn't too bad actually. It ran a little debian if you didn't have decent hardware, but for a while was the best choice for word processing. I never had it crash on me. At the time I had it working on FreeBSD with Linux emulation, and I'm pretty sure I installed it from the ports collection.
I think it's safe to say that EV1 is well, fucked for lack of a more accurate word. The negative impact of this decision, on top of the negative effect of the "EV1 posts record loses due to customers fleeing" will sink them. Nobody is going to take them seriously anymore. It's sad really. There are too many people doing a better job at what EV1 is doing for a lot less money. Customer loyalty was very important to them. Wait for the Linux backlash. Redhat publicly stating that EV1's support is null and void along with any contracts. Code authors lining up to publicly state that EV1 has violated their GPL rights and can no longer use very important daemons. This is going to be very very bad for EV1. Nobody will forget this.
I went the other route and installed Gentoo in the first three partitions, then put XP in the 4th. I made sure to make a grub boot disk so I could easily overwrite the crap that XP puts in the boot partition during it's install with grub goodness.
Thank you for the inspiration. I have stopped saying "man that thing is solaris" and started saying "man that thing is debian". Usage example: Man, the speed with which Xfree 4.3 made it into Debian was so like, debian.".
I have never had a machine that was overclocked in any way successfully install Gentoo
You must be doing something wrong then. I've got a 2.4C pushed over 3.3 running Gentoo with a gig adata pc500 running 1:1 memory divider. It screams with the UT2004 demo and my FX5900. I ran memtest off the Gentoo boot cd all night with no errors. CPU voltage is at 1.6v and mem voltage is at 3.0v. I use an MSI Neo2-LS. If you plan on running a 1:1 divider, save your money and avoid the 875 chipset boards. The performance with the 865 is identical with the 1:1 ratio. I'd avoid reiserfs like the plague with any overclocked board though. EXT3 is a much better choice.

think about your cable carrier -- chances are, there's only one in your area, and if you want cable you don't get a choice
Oh, you have a choice. You can MOVE TO GET AWAY FROM THE FUCKERS like I'm doing in 4 days. So basically PCPARTNER SUCKS. That's all I'm saying I guess. I keep forgetting to flame them on broadband reports.
They already lost the battle, and are in the process of losing the war. It's inevitable. They can't buy it. They can't coerse it. They can't even shake a stick at it. They might as well be screaming at the sun for shining. Any manuevering they've done so far can and has been coded around. They are losing the server market completely, and will eventually lose the desktop market. They have no 'innovation' left. Free software, on the other hand, continues to improve at a dramatic rate and will continue to do so. The only venue they have is the 'court of pubic opinion' and doing stuff like this screws them so badly it's not even funny. People don't use windows because they love it. I know nobody that hasn't had at least one serious data loss or virus problem with windows. Thing like that are not forgotten. And with the recent Windows code leak? Do you think for one minute they can stop THAT from causing problems with threats and lawyers? Their image is deteriorating. If they are lucky, in a decade they'll still be writing the preferred office software for whatever OS takes their market over.
Bzzzt, it did. And I can remember thinking their login screen didn't look nearly as nice as the SunOS login screen on my workstation in the Weather Shop. I also hated the fact that NT 3.1 was dog slow even though it was running on an Alpha that had a much faster RISC based processor than my sun box did. I also didn't like that it didn't have virtual desktops. NT 3.1 was my first exposure to windows. I remember thinking "wow, this could be cool. Another OS for Alpha" but being horribly disappointed at how unstable it was.
tla, Subversion, arch, or any of the other CVS "replacements". We are rapidly approaching the point where we better start checking code in somewhere and the only thing I know is CVS.

It's my favorite series. Hands down (I play it on the PC). You can argue about other racing games, but I love the feel, or at least I did. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 rocked. Quite impressive. I still play it online. It was the reason I forked out 200 bucks for a Logitech Momo Force. But Need For Speed Underground is VERY disappointing. In drag racing mode, my wheel simply doesn't work. Downloaded all patches for the game. Downloaded the Wingman 4.3 software. Installed any other patches I could find. That and I'm stuck doing "drifting" before I can go any further in the game. Instead of prior titles in the series where you could select from a board of possible paths to take, you have ONE path. And the fact that I think "drifting" is fucking stupid, and I suck at it means I can no longer enjoy this game. They did a great job appealing to the erector set wing, fast and furious wannabe crowd, but the gameplay flat out sucks. They also made "Hard" mode way too easy. Until "drifting", I hadn't lost a single race. Thank God I thought to quickly hit the arrow keys on my keyboard during my first drag race when I noticed my wheel wasn't working anymore. It works with everything else in the game. I'm definitely not impressed.
I remember seeing a photo of this array as a child. Back then it only had five dishes. I had no idea that it had been filled out.
You'll find this happens as telescope arrays approach puberty. The once flat areas become curvy and full. Sweat glands start up production in earnest requiring a discussion about the importance of deodorant. Pretty soon your array will want a training bra requiring a trip to the mall.

I didn't miss it. I was just referencing the first one. I kinda like Stallman. I got to speak with him for a while at the ALS a while back.
My favorite quote from his reply supporting spam:

The idea is, pissed off people have shitty aim.

AOLuser
And naw, I'm not a tub of lard. I just enjoy a good FPS game after a long day at work for two reasons:
#1 If I win, I feel good.
#2 If I lose, I get humbled. Everyone should lose once in a while. It's good for ya.
instead I'm just going to go play the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo again.
MAN does this demo not rock intently! It's all I've been doing for days. I use the name:

so that when my team takes down the core they see
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA: HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

I should probably have used scarcasm tags instead of the *cough* I used eh?

Before some overzealous moderator pounces. The Need For Speed series are EA GAMES titles. The only ones I play in fact.
