Except so many people look for overlooked fundraisers that help minorities that they turn into over-emphasised fundraisers that help minorities. As a white guy on a low income, you get basically squat assistance. Nobody cares about you (see above...). A black guy on the same income has many many resources to help them out. Ever try and look for college scholarships for a normal, white male? Not much around. How about the same GPA and income on a hispanic kid?
I dont think its a tiny improvement in market value, I think its a rather large one. I once saw a lady going through checkout with her entire basket fully of pink items. Everything in it was marked with the pink ribbon, even the pens and printer paper. Easily $150 worth of office supplies and stationary.
One example I saw recently (same occasion as above) after having this exact discussion with my mom. I saw a stapler at the store for 15.99. It's a pretty nifty stapler (not red swingline) that uses compressed springs to staple 25 pages with a minimal force, ie you can use one finger. The same stapler, with a pink motif was around the corner in a display for breast cancer awareness month (seriously, is there anyone that ISNT aware of breast cancer?) for 18.99 and signs about a one dollar donation for every purchase.
Granted that it might take some overhead to work out, but its not 2 dollars worth. If you want to support a specific cause, then make a direct donation. Its the best way by far.
What would happen if people in mass started boycotting stuff for breast cancer? I personally avoid products proclaiming to be "pink" or boasting the pink ribbon. Not because I don't think it is a good cause, but rather I think it is a more of a marketing tool than a fund raiser. The same product that is pink and says that for every purchase 1 dollar is donated costs me more than one dollar more retail.
nah, its still alive and well when its white males who are being segregated. Really thats the only form of discrimination that is still around in anything more than pockets of extremists. Unfortunately, its also pretty much the only one that isnt recognized by the state.
Nice. I had heard of Xfire before but I thought was strictly its own service, meaning they would have to register for it as well (fat chance). You make me look into it a bit more and I found a plugin to reroute it through miranda. Gonna give it a try later.
I dont really care about being able to browse the internet in game, but I want to be able to instant message. In steam, you can place an overlay on the game in order to use the Steam friends community stuff (ie, messaging) but it only works for the steam community. Thats a problem for talking to my friends who dont play at all or just aren't playing at the moment. I can hardly demand they register for steam and use it just so I can talk to them. If they could incorporate yahoo/aim/msn into that overlay, I would be happy. For a long time I used the Miranda IM client and a plugin for my G15 keyboard to chat while I was playing, but I sold it (shouldnt have). IMO, the overlay would be the way to go to make an internet browser. It's unobtrusive yet easy to use.
On the other hand, they could just start with some real multi-monitor/alt-tab support without freezing and crashing. Seems that few games handle it very well and that would be a bigger plus than an in-game browser.
I seem to remember a few years ago a bunch of terrorists held up a kids school in Russia. Their response was to gas the place and kill everyone inside. Even some of the kids did from the gas. So ya, they might not be lobbing bombs, but their idea of acceptable collateral is a bit different.
Personally, I think there has to be a medium between the two. The Russians made it rather clear that such things will not be successful even if it means killing innocents, because ultimatly negotiating can, and often does, lead to more deaths. Think of the hundreds of bad shows where the dudes kid is being held at gunpoint unless the dude gives secret code X to the bad guys. Well, if he does give secret code X then they will probably kill the kid anyway and use it to go kill more people.
The current system already points of why it was given a M or a T. It has points like foul language, sexual content, partial (full) nudity, and even alcohol consumption.
In the article it says "What we have here are the beginnings of something designed to enable robots to hunt down humans like a pack of dogs."
Now, what I'm wondering is why THIS is so concerning when you can train a pack of dogs to do the same thing, with less of a guaruntee that they will do exactly what you say. A robot isnt going to decide to maul a dude because he feels like it. Its going to follow its programming. And you can train a dog to kill just like you can program a robot.
How many are there that really want to listen to that kind of trash?
Thats why nobody broadcasts it. Its a very small market.
I've also used satellite radio. There were just as many adds as normal FM/AM. So I got sick of paying to listen to commercials. Bye bye....
Yes you can, its called a scanner and OCR.
As one who has bought all his textbooks for school and then promptly downloaded/scanned them to use on his laptop, I can tell you it works quite well.
Clarification, i do not like universal health care. It's not only unconstitutional, its also impractical.
Not to mention later when it turns out we could use some defense around.
Like any preventative measure, you never know how much its worth until you dont have it.
Like heath care?

I saw what the plan IS, but I'm saying I doubt it will work out that way.
I would expect the public wifi to be restricted to public areas like parks and malls. Residential areas probably wont have coverage.
My first expectation was something for bomber jets to make them less visible. I'd be surprised if it doesnt get ported over.
Me thinks they have been watching Camron on the Sarah Connor Chronicles too much...

I run openoffice on my eee 900. It opens in about 10 seconds and never stutters. Sounds like someone needs to clean their computer out.

Sooooo, quit smoking...
Its not that we dont know anything about him, its just that the little he actually has ever done hardly leaves a pleasant aftertaste.
Marx already published "The Communist Manifesto" about 150 years ago.
Sad, but true. How do you expect them to pay the monthy fee if we dont let them get on welfare?!?! Its not like they have time to work.
reminds me of the bumper sticker I saw the other day.. "I'm a Republican because not everybody can be on welfare" I gotta get one of those.
I have never ever ever had antivirus interfere with running a game. IMO its a scapegoat they try to throw at you and reduce their own responsibility.
I also never disable antivirus while installing software and in 7 years with 4 computers in the house have never had that be an issue.
