Theoreticly, if you walk around with the M$ logo on your shirt they could sue you for it, but they aren't likely to do so. In this case, they would be using that as an excuse to stop them and presumably hold them for questioning. Quite clever really, even if you think its wrong.
I dont think you catch what he is saying. There is a difference between the use of profanity as "creative expression" and as surprised expression.
For example, the use of the word "fuck" as an adjective on every other word in a sentance is plain stupid. If you cant think of any other word to more adequately describe what you're talking about then you are a moron. However, saying the same thing because you were caught off guard and as an expression of surprise is entirely different (not that I personally do so myself).
The issue is with people, kids or adults, thinking that just slapping a 4 letter word on as a pointless adjective makes them mature and cool, and that being the extent of their ability to express themselves. Bottom line, if you going to do it, then do it right at least.
So now the parents of kids too young to play dont have to worry about letting them play!!
Come on, if you're old enough to play the game, you're old enough to either deal with it or tell them to stuff a sock in it. There are so many other options to work with. Why not just mute the stupid player? Or not even use the voip at all? Like the article says, its only really used for trash talk anyway. Unless I know who I'm playing with, I'm not going to try and coordinate anything.
I had a similar idea for a case I wanted to build last year that I never got around to doing. I wanted to take a plate and put a plastic bubble over the top with a huge fan at the apex. I was thinking of using sheet metal for the base and one of the sunlight domes you can get at lowes or some place for the plastic and mounting it so there was a inch or so between the base plate and the dome. I think it would be a really good design for heat dispersal, but I'm lazy and never did it.
It doesnt really matter how good your cameras are, any surveillance system is really limited by how much area it can see at a time and as that increases the manpower needed to sort through all the data increases exponentially. Until they have 300 million of these guys up there full time, and another 300 million people watching the feeds, do you really think they are going to be spending much time looking at you unless you stand out?
I really dont think even the government is stupid enough to use a multi-billion dollar instrument to track someone who ran a red light.
"Ah well, I'm involved in what I am to protect the public's right to protest what I'm involved in, so I guess I shouldn't complain."
Several years ago back in high-school I participated in a sort of summer seminar for youth in DC oriented about national security issues. We had these debates that we were supposed to participate in about various topics, one of which was the media at a time of war. During that time I had been planning on going into the service through one of the service acadamies and was gung-ho about serving (I've since then been rendered ineligible, but I wish I still could). In the debate I made a comment much like what you just said. Shut up every one of the hippy/liberal fools who were complaining about how many casualties there are in combat, including all the government officials there moderating.
It's pitiful that the whole "peace protester" mindset doesnt realize that they have the right to "protest" simply because someone was willing to fight and die to give it to them. In return, they give them scorn, spittle, and rejection. Why do people think that by disarming themselves they will be protected like ostriches sticking their head in the sand? Think about it next time you complain about the "injustice" of war.
PS i know ostriches dont really do that, but you know what i mean.
I'm really glad they pulled them. I emailed MS customer support last week telling them they were extremely stupid and begged them to pull it off the air.
I dont mind helping those that cant help themselves, but thats not the case for most people who I have met. They dont try to help themselves, why should I be forced to help them? Its like giving CPR to a chain smoker, youre not going to change much. They have to help themselves before anything you or I can do.
Medicaid is for the poor, not the old. And ya, I think people should have their own investments. I would LOVE to get rid of social security. None of my grandparents need it. Its not going to help me when I retire, nor is it even going to help my parents when they do. Why should I pay for your parents? You see, they werent fools who expected others to take care of them. That's also known as being responsible. Why should I pay for you? Why should I be forced to take care of you? If I want to voluntarily join an establishment to provide common benefits to all *members* regarding health and financial status, then that is my perogative (ie insurance). You have the same.
Since when is knowning what Linux *is* a measure of anything? My 7 year old neice knows what linux is. As does my mom. As does my neighbor. As does pretty much everyone I associate with other than my *dog.
*i dont really have a dog. Otherwise he might too.
"You're under the mistaken impression that welfare benefits are a lot of money...they aren't. Hell, the home interest deduction, middle class welfare, costs the government more money."
Those taking any sort of government hand out aren't middle class. Those are people who are falling into lower class. You really dont think that Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security etc are cheap?
Medicare and social security alone are 425 billion, plus what ever other programs you can find. Thats nearly as much as the whole military.
People really DO live on these programs long term. I personally know people who have never held a job, and never plan to because they are satisfied with what they get for free. My neighbor from when I was a kid has never had a job, and gets nearly as much as I do from various welfare programs, and I'm working a full 50-60 hours a week. Fully capable of working, but they never have had to so they sit on their tuff and get drunk.
"The citizens of the UK/Australia/NZ/Canada/Sweden that I have communicated with seem to really really like their "socialist health care systems""
I call bull. I've lived in Europe and know first hand how poor the care is there. I only met one family who liked the free care system, and they were very much lower class. Austrailia, I dont know specificly, but I highly doubt it is much better there. The only ones who like it are the same ones who are milking all the other systems. Ya, its better than nothing for them, but for everyone else then it sucks.
"The free market works only when it is well regulated and continually redistributes wealth from richest to poorest."
Or conversely when it lets people fall and get back up on their own. The problem isnt that people are getting into problems, but that they expect someone else to fix it for them. I'm fine with giving aid to those that really need and deserve it, but it is simply wrong to use tax money to fund stupid people's lifestyles for them. They will never learn if you keep taxing me to pay for them.
Interesting thing about employment statistics. They only count who are looking for jobs. If you dont have a job, and arent activly looking, then you arent unemployed.
Whats the point of searching for a job with a government so bent backward to fun welfare to the lower classes by taxing the middle class?
Take health care for example. Do you really think that its going to be "free"? No. The wealthy are still going to spend to get their own benifits above the norm. The middle are going to pay for their own low quality care (ever been in a socialist hospital?) The lower are going to have the middle pay for them.
This really is determined by what you mean as a "good" economy. One that lets people who are willing to work make money for themselves? Or one that makes sure that no matter how lazy you are, someone will take care of you. One is called capitalism, the other is called socialism (or communism).
It's wrong? If antimatter traveled backwards in time then it would be present at the site of high energy events before its manufactured.... destroying what ever produced it so that it couldnt be produced in the future.
using an entirely different technology that has significant limitations with line of sight, some dudes did something that has a totally different application range as what some other dudes did before, and did it faster!
seriously, apples != oranges and wireless w/ RF != wireless w/ line of sight
Do you guys realize how stupid this arguement is? It just doesnt make sense. If you are really an honest person and really do have the cash, then pay for it and *then* do what ever you like to use it as *you* want. If that means paying for a licence but perfering to run the cracked for conveience then fine. Unless you do, then your rationalizing your behavior. Im not going into the pirating-is-morally-wrong debate, but be honest with yourselves at least and say "Yes, I am a pirate because I'm too cheap to pay for things I want" instead of trying to play the victim and say "I pirate, but only because game companies make me".
I fully admit to using torrents to download things. I have some VHS tapes of movies from way back when, and I'd like them on dvd. Downloaded. I bought my school textbooks but would rather just carry my laptop. textbooktorrents.com saves the day. I lost my install cd for morrowind. Got a copy. But I actually own those things, albit in a different form. Unless you really do already own it though, its meaningless if you have the money to spend or not. Heck, I would say youre probably worse because you DO have the money, but rationalize enough not to spend it.
That rant over, America's Army is a good game with guaranteed no DRM. I havent played it for a while because it is too much for my system to handle anymore, but it was a blast back in the day.
Capitol One is the only card i need though!
Intelligent Design can hardly be used to describe the makers of the Penis-creature.
BTW why did i get marked troll? that was a joke :(
I mean, I'd like to finish the game in less time than 1000000000000 years...

True the lack of swearing doesnt always ensure maturity, but the over usage of swearing displays a distinct lack of it.

Stupid idea.
BTW first post!
I just bought a new motherboard, and I sleep very soundly knowing I still can connect a floppy to it....
Honest predators who didn't mean any harm?
I'm sorry Billy, I didn't mean to kidnap you and molest you in my cabin for 3 days until SWAT found you. I never meant to hurt anyone!

You forgot that it also makes English teachers feel important and sophisticated.

Because CNN said so. duh.
Ban guns... and criminals use knives! Who would have thought?
