  1. Re:Confused on Nuclear waste on NASA Developing Small Nuclear Reactor For the Moon · · Score: -1

Correction, lead dosnt really have much to do with it other than as a lining of the how ensamble. Uranium is split to kr and ba (going down on the periodic table), some of the uranium atoms that dont split just absorb neutrons and turn into plutonium (up on the periodic table). This means the "used" full is has a bit less uranium, and a bit more plutonium than before. The % is only a few percent, but is enough to make it so that old reactors couldnt use it anymore. A breeder reactor is just one that can use it even when the uranium % has been reduced and is more "efficient" in that it can use it longer. This of course makes more plutonium, which is why some people dont like them because they make more bomb material.

Actually, flat solid materials endure compression quite well. Even if you have studs then you can probably buff out the scratches and its just fine. If you tried to pick up one side while stepping on it then you will obviously shatter it though.

Now as for cassettes, a simple kitchen magnet can screw your entire collection when you drop it next to your case. And its a lot easier to copy a cd.

No this has nothing to do with the 5th amendment. If you have a big safe in your basement and the police have reason to suspect you have cocaine in it, then they can order you to open it. If you have something in your car trunk, the police can demand you unlock it for a warrented search. This is NO DIFFERENT except that it is new and that while we can force open safes and car trunks, its harder to brute force decryption.

The 5th amendment says "nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself". That means you dont have to comply with the demand for an admission of guilt. It does NOT mean you dont have to provide the court with objects and/or information that is directly or indirectly related to the case. If you were really going to stand on that then you could refuse to be searched when you are under arrest because the gun in your pocket would be a "witness" against yourself.

Last I checked, a witness is a PERSON.
