First off a dyson sphere does not take into account the MASSIVE amount of praticle energy that is coming off the star. the Stellar wind on that scale would be immense. Secondly, Orbits are not magical. a dyson sphere is unstable and will either wobble and start to collapse into the star, or rip apart due to the uneven gravity well. Just the technology to even be able to have the ability to think of building a Ringworld, something far, far, FAR easier than a Dyson sphere is so mind bogglingly compex that it collapses in upon it's self.
Sorry but it's a waste of time we might as well look for civilizations that are harvesting black holes to power their space ships.
"coffee drinkers are more white-collar, sedentary types who read lot of documents either physical ones or on a LCD screen for the most part of the day..."
I dare you to say that at a foundry, you'll get chucked into a furnace and melted down.
Lowest of the blue collars drink far more coffee than any white collar type.
It has been for years, you should have been here in the beginning.
The biggest problem is that the fight against the trolls and shills was lost. I have watched really good insighful posts get modded to oblivion because it said anything negative about Android, even when it was 100% true and offered a solution. Same for Microsoft Shills and shill mods. The Moderator system seems to be really easy to game, and it's really really easy to make an autoposter that reposts the +5 comments to the dupes to get into the moderation pool. Read at -1 and look at the insane amount of spam that get's on the site.
Although slashdot could get worse, Gawker Media could buy Slashdot and install their crap-tastic commenting system.
It was stillborn. Honestly, they never had a chance. The only thing it ever created was a PR buzz. Most everyone that had any technical clue and then learned that the founders had no experience at all knew that it was never going to do anything.
You are barking up the wrong eco-tree. Electric vehicles are vary useful, but you have to get past the moronic safety requirements and the "I need a truck" retardation that most american drivers have. a vehicle the size of a Smart Car but 3/4 the width would be perfect. 1 seat, room for some baggage, and sleek enough to do 75mph without much drag. You can EASILY make this a 200 mile range electric car with a fast recharge from 110VAC or solar.
And you can make them safe in case you have to tangle with a idiot in a SUV. The Smart Four Two is safer in a crash than any SUV ever made, but a lot of people dont have the IQ to realize that. In europe they dont have all the really stupid and heavy safety devices required in the USA, yet they are still highly safe because of the aluminum crash frame that even covers the roof.
IF you want to change the world, start by convincing the general public what they think they know is incredibly wrong and inaccurate.
Good luck with that, BTW.... Looking at what morons out there believe, you will never convince the average person they are not safer in their Canyonero SLXT Extended.
I know guys that have converted other cars to all electric years ago for less than $14K. One did it for $5500 and over 70% of that cost was the batteries.
Electric conversions are not new or innovative, I helped do an electric conversion of a "Le Car" in high school automotive engineering class back in 1984.
A plate mike hung from the ceiling will work if it's a QUIET room. if it's a typical dinner party, you have about 15 tables of others all yamering and causing a lot of noise. Boundary mics on the table will not work as you have people thumping the table, dropping glasses, etc... so stick 11 rental sure wirelesses on them and let the system automix. automixers work great and take no effort.
Honestly I could have rented all of what I needed to do a 11 person dinner party for the cost of buying all the devices.
I'm an editor, make the lazy crew do something in the field. Instead of me spending 60 hours in the editing suite at $250 an hour for me and the suite editing it. Also the little recorder have sync issues as in they will sections of skipped audio or hicckups that makes you have to resync the audio tracks over and over and over and over.
This is great for the college student that has $1.50 for his budget and all their editing time on a macbook is free. They are trading the proper gear for extensive free labor.
AS in dedicated AC, dedicated power and dedicated power backup systems. None of this "use storage closet 1A" crap with no AC and no real power.
Get them to run 4 dedicated 20 amp circuits into that closet. a dedicated AC unit and have them insulate all the walls to keep noise down and cooling efficient. a nice sealing steel door as well to keep the sound from intruding into the office space as well.
Oh and if you need 3 racks in there, ask for 6 racks of space. I hate the "we made the room wide enough for 3 racks"... how am I supposed to get to the back of them?
Lastly, assume the contractor and architect are morons. you must spell out your needs exactly. as in "IT closet is 42.5 inches wide by 77.341 inches long with a 92 inch ceiling clearance. Fiberglass batting in all walls and ceiling with 6 inch conduits leaving the room (specify 2X the size of any wiring conduit to ANY location.)
Nobody uses GoPro cameras. They use the Go Pro Hero HD2 pro version ofthe camera. Huge difference between the low end crappy GoPro and the Professional model in video quality.
Although audio still sucks horribly on all Go Pro cameras.
:HUGE amount of editing work... compared to what? Radio mics will give you the same amount of material:
you never did ENG recording have you. If I have 4 cameras with audio guys, I get 4 audio tracks per camera (from good cameras, crap ones record only stereo) Even if I have 6 audio guys with booms per camera I still get 4 tracks because I have 1 guy with a field mixer making sure the audio is mixed right before it goes into the camera. Typically you get only 1 guy running a boom and the mixer, with the wireless units mixed to that or ran into the other 3 tracks. Anyone trying to record 30 people at the same time and shooting with 1 camera is a nut or insane, or both.
Audio sync in post will be a NIGHTMARE. Been there done that.
and isolating people at a dinner party is not hard, 11 people? 11 wireless microphones into a field mixer and then into the camera. OR do it old Skool. Camera guy + audio guy with a boom and a shotgun microphone on it, Two would be better (two audio guys on mic booms) A pair of ME55's in a dead cat are magical.
Meh, force AT&T and Verizon to make Cellphone towers to beam the signal UP instead of down to the ground to satisfy a bunch of whily rich guys that dont know anything about technology. I'm sure they will do it for free and not pass the new fees along to the consumer.
News flash: You are not important at all. your views dont matter to anybody. You also know both of those facts, because you dont have the balls to post under your account instead of responding by using the AC setting.
If you had ANY education at all you would understand why the GPS system is a protected service. I suggest learning how to use a computer and then the internet , as well as a tricky technology called a search engine in order to educate yourself on the subject.
40 hours a week with 5 hours of screw off time every friday, 35% more pay than industry average. Managers that are not retarted and understand reality.
Give them those 3 and you will get the best of the best beating a path to your door.
The definition of "robot" is pretty useless now. Because my cellphone meets the definition of a robot, my video camera does, a RC car seems to be a highly advanced "robot".
I learned that a robot is a mechanical device that can perform tasks automatically. It may – but need not – be humanoid in appearance. Some robots require some minor degree of guidance, which may be done using a remote control, or with a computer interface.
All of these need Major guidance, as in "remote control car".
But, let's call them robots as it makes people feel better.
Add $8500 to the price of every electric car and package with it 5Kw of china solar panels. Problem solved.

I upped my coffee intake to stave off Dementia and Alzheimer disease... bot now I'm gonna go blind....
Give a guy a break will ya scientists?

"and an awful lot of CO2" Hey he is helping the economy. Pepsi and Coke need all that CO2 for the sodas they are making!

Really??

If we get rid of seat belt laws and reckless driving laws and we will get a lot more car and truck sales!
Show me one person that has said, "I would love to start bicycling, but I refuse to because of the damn helmets."

Nope. Jitter enters in because these are not recording raw WAV files to disk. You get 5ms-20ms skips in the audio here and there.

It's not called metro, After showing Windows 8 to several people the interface is actually called, "Jeebus, what the hell is that?"
and no my name is not Jeebus... I wonder how all these users know that it's called "what the hell is that"?
