As a USA'ian I agree. I have several Canadian friends and all of them have nothing bad to say about the socialized health care up there. In fact once when I was up there and was in a car accident (friend was driving) the hospital looked at us anyways while we were waiting for my friends cut to get tidied up. I kept telling her, I'm Alright and I dont have insurance in your country.
she said," you dont have it, this is free. even for people from outside the country"
Honestly the only people talking smack about the social health-care you have up there are the fear-mongers down here that are still believing that Obama is going to set up death panels and will start eating babies.
In 2004 my wife drove to canada monthly to buy her meds and see one of your doctors. because we were jobless and could only afford your "dangerous" Canadian pharmaceuticals, and your doctors were the only ones that understood Reynauds and were willing to treat it. American doctors poo-poo it as a "nuisance" and mostly refuse to treat it.
Only the raging idiots here knock and dog on Canadian health-care.
They claimed it hard enough that analog HD is dead at the end of this year.
Because they scream louder than everyone else they get all the attention.
This screaming about how EVERYONE has suffered losses will be used to force through more draconian laws.... because nobody in the tech field is screaming back.
For their monthly fee, customers also get anti-virus software and 10GB of storage space on the Broadband Computer Company's servers
And full of what looks like fud. "anti-virus"... really.... What anti-virus software do that run that looks for Linux Viruses? ClamAV looks for windows viruses only. so unless it's scanning their incoming junk for windows viruses just to keep them from passing it along they are giving out fake stuff.
Actually I have canceled Cable-TV. It's worthless to me and my wife. If we want to watch TV we turn on the TV and tune in one of the local ATSC channels. If there is a specific show, mythbusters for example, I simply retrieve it from a friends house where I set them up a mythtv box. we add what few shows we like to it and make them transcode to avi on a rss feed for me. when we go over there I simply grab the files on my netbook and we are good to go.
I get the free tv shows without the risk of torrenting them and having the Content police come and kill us, my friend get's a high end DVR built for him.
works great. I'd LOVE to be able to subscribe to Mythbusters as a tv show for $2.00 a month whe nthere are new episodes (maybe $12.00 a year total cost as they make very few episodes anymore) but they will not do that. Discovery will not sell me a non drm file I can play anywhere.
so my only choices are record at friends house, or download a torrent. either way I'm not spending $100.00 a month to stream utter crap into my home for the 3 tv shows I have any interest in.
Nope not hard at all. you dont run vertically you run horizontally, run wires Under the baseboard. typically you can remove the baseboard and there is a 1/2 inch gap down there to run wires, surface mount the cat 5 jacks.
If you need to run vertically, you can roun the wires to a closet then bust up the walls there, plaster repair and you are done. nobody cares if a closet is 100% perfect.
morph into greedy bastards? EA games is the second most greedy company on the planet. The executives there eat the souls of any developer asking for more than a pittance to work there. They stake out the victim on the board room table and all take turns drinking their soul...
Honestly EA's free DLC for new only is only fluf. the freebies they give you for ME2 are a joke and useless compared to other gear in the game it's nothing you need to finish the game and honestly only gives you a leg up for the first hour of playing (the black hole gun will actually screw you if you use it instead of the grenade launcher.) and the cerebus network is 100% useless.
free DLC is typically junk that only impresses people for a very short time.. like the crap free DLC that Dr Pepper is giving away.
Taking away the ability to play online? that's simply screwing people and disabling a big part of the game.
To me? I dont think the NYT is worth more than $4.99 a month. and that is only if it's available on ANY of my readers not just a blessed one they want me to have.
Honestly, they have to compete with every other source of news on the net, Many free, some I pay for. and honestly the "lyfestyle" and other sections I really dont care about so they have a zero value to me. AND not being a New York resident it has even lower value to me as it's only a source for national news which I can get myself elsewhere. Google,CNN,Yahoo and others give me a ton of that for free. So outside of NY the NYT has even a lower value, most people I know think my $4.99 is way too much.
I agree, but it sounds like the question is from someone that is afraid of pulling their own wire.
I rewired my home with cat5e,speaker wire and RG6Quad in a weekend with a 6 foot drillbit and a helper. I even installed wallplates to make it look like a pro did it.
yes it does. you impedance match the ends with baluns.
I did that a LOT back in the day of 10base2 when the office owner would not pony up for running wires.... yet he paid 2X that for baluns and impedance matching...
Far cheaper to pay someone to run cat5e for you. Around here it costs $100.00 a run for cat 5 runs under 120 feet. that includes new wallplates and termination at each end.
typically car thieves dont like having crowds cheering them on while they work. the "innocent bystanders" are typically outside the blast radius.
I'm not asking for 800 pounds of high explosives that level a 3 block area. I'm looking to simply spread the thief's DNA over a 30 yard diameter... ALL his dna.....
End of twitter? not likely...

Twitter's power is that you dont have to go there to use it or update it. I've got 90,000,000 twitter apps to choose from on EVERY platform. Hell even my home automation gear from crestron has twitter interoperability.
Twitter has critical mass and support on everything.. Buzz has none of that currently.
Actually yes I can. I am typically editing the clips that are in ram. I hate it when I load a clip to cut down and it fails to load because I need an extra 1.2 gig of ram and being a weenie I disabled swap for no real reason.
P.S. call me when you can buy a laptop that has 16 gig of ram. YES I do edit in the field at times in a paltry 4 gig.

For some reason I dont get any visitors... even from friends.
Not true, I had a XP image that will work across a Lot of variations. you need to have ALL drivers for all variations in the image and have the image as a OEM install image. It add's time but it runs the final driver installs and setup on first reboot.
You can do it, you need the OEM tools. I really hope that Windows 7 can do the same.
Are you really that stupid? because you sound like it.
The magical health-care fairies are TAXES you idiot.
Only a raging sociopath, or completely greedy asshole is against paying higher taxes to make sure everyone around him is in good health.
so which one are you?

Sony? they just eat people.

Exactly!
because I bet that it is all crappy RG59 cable and not RG6 or RG6Quad that would really be needed.
If the house was wired more than 7 years ago the coax in it is pretty much garbage.
It's also not hard to run new wires in existing homes, I dont know why people are so scared of it.
Yup look at how Orkut has DECIMATED facebook and Myspace!

I just wish the bait cars were full of explosives.
Honestly, Blow up a few car jackers or car thieves and make it REALLY public and suddenly car thefts will go way down.
I make it as difficult as my insurance company wants it to be.
Which is why my facebook status is usually.....
"hunkered down bwehind sandbags in view of the door. Itching to try out my new 10 gauge semiautomatic shotgun..."
or
" need to leave for supplies, I have claymore mines set up all over the house, I hope I dont trip one again when I come home and kill the new dog like last time."

Mid end newer ones dont as well. My Dell studio 17 that I just got has a MAX of 4 gig. it cant take any more than that.
And that is not enough for most of what I do.
$199.00 many of the acer net pc's have the specs to load an entire live Ubuntu CD into ram and execute the install while it's running.
2 gig of ram is dirt cheap and that is all that is needed.
but really there's no reason not to do so on any XP machine with 2 gigs of RAM or Vista/Win 7 machine with 4 gigs of RAM.
Yes if you do the typical office no taxing tasks on a pc. If you do anything big it's no where near enough.
If you edit HD Video or very large Photo arrays you bump up against 4gig without effort. I hit the 16 gig mark on a regular basis.
Like the Stupid IT directory that went websurfing as administrator on the Print server?
dollarsto doughnuts that the whole thing is not a planned attack but simply an idiot move that infected a machine and it spread.
