Offtopic, but I would switch to the Mac full time if they let me turn off the goddamn mouse acceleration. I was a given a dual 1GHz G4, and I'm loving it. Except moving the mouse cursor is like dragging it through the mud because Steve Jobs doesn't think I can handle a 1:1 relationship between moving the mouse and moving the cursor.
It's not simple acceleration like in Windows, it actually DEccelerates when you slow down the mouse, so I'm constantly undershooting my target (and then overshooting when I speed up the mouse and it goes faster than I intended).
You'd figure hey unix and all that jazz, there's gotta be a workaround. Instead there are about a dozen half-assed solutions that usually only turn the acceleration way down. Many of these 'solutions' cost money, like USB Overdrive and SteerMouse.
The best I can do right now is use the MS Intellipoint software, which lets you use it's own acceleration scheme, which is kind of like getting kicked in the balls instead of getting castrated.
There's a pretty good chance you CAN reconfigure their router. If they're not smart enough to enable WEP or WPA, what makes you think they'd have a router password?
One of my neighbors was interferring with my connection because they used the same channel. So I connect to their network and suprise! 192.168.1.1 was the router, and 'admin' was the password.
I took the liberty of changing their channel. I doubt they even noticed any difference.
First of all, it's not practical and frequently not possible to receive phone calls at a payphone. What do you do, arrange the call beforehand? And how do you do that, by calling them on the payphone?
If it's 50c per call for a payphone, how do you figure it's $182 a year? You said 2 calls a day, you're not actually assuming one of those calls are received are you? Also, all the payphones around here are limited to 3 minutes.
Almost all of your numbers are totally made-up. Unless you're getting some snooty picture phone shit your phone will be highly discounted with your service. I paid $60 with my pre-pay cellphone.
So, let's assume 3 minutes a day. $365 a year with a payphone. I'm most familliar with my pre-pay, so lets do that. That's.25 per minute for the first 10 minutes of a day,.10 after (which is irrelevant in this case). I also get a $10 credit if I use more than $50 a month. At 6 minutes it'll be about $45 a month, but we'll assume I make sure I reach $50 for more important calls, which will reduce it to $40. So that's roughly $480 a year.
Is the extra $115 worth it for not having to wander the streets for a phone? I think so. It also costs.10 to send a text message, and it's free to receive. Using that alone I could drastically cut my cost between others with cellphones. And keep in mind that pre-pay isn't usually as good for frequent users (which I'm not), a service plan could save you more money.
And yeah I realize my numbers are just as bullshit as yours are.
I'm so very tired of the "Nintendo is teh kiddy!" argument. I'm happy the way things are. While Nintendo's kid-friendly reputation may keep it nipping at the heels of the Xbox and PS2, the bazillions of copies of Pokemon and Gameboys that are sold every year will keep them afloat to make more games like Metroid Prime and Zelda.
The GBA's link cable is SLOW. It's not designed to transfer more than a few hundred KB, not 8MB roms.
Also, it's a lot eaiser to just put the GBA hardware sans LCD in a box and plug it into the GC than writing an emulator that is sure to play 100% of all GB, GBC, and GBA games perfectly.
Guess what, I AM gonna tell you to buy a console and play on a TV. Jesus fucking christ, what kind of excuse is that? Hey, I don't have any money so I'm just gonna TAKE my food and shelter. Don't get on MY back man, I don't have any money, I don't have any choice!
A ton of SNES and NES games are being rereleased on the GBA. You can even buy a eReader and buy NES games to play on your GBA for $5 a pop. This is hardly abandonware, it's piracy.
How depressing that bringing down a funny script with halfassed 3D graphics is "a new level." Not necessarily a better level, I guess! Gimme pixelated sprites any day.
These idiots are gonna pay $30 to get a sweet character ripe for the picking when he walks outside the city gates not knowing how to defend himself from getting assraped by everyone. Then he'll sue OSI for his $30 back.:)
Argh, I wish I still had mod privileges. This is the second time I've seen this post--at +5 at that. It was funny the first time, now it's just karma whoring.
The internet didn't invent art critics. Read any art history book and you'll see that any great artist or movement was meant with disdain and loathing by the critical elite. Get over it, Picaso, Shakespear, and Mozart did!

You have NO IDEA how much time I spent in the shadow garden! I want that thing IN MY ROOM!:)
I was a student volunteer and I had the dubious luck to work at the Episode 2 special session. On the one hand I didn't have to wait in line, but on the other I had to deal with freaks with BO who got irate when I had to close the doors.
See you all next year in San Diego, where I'll hopefully be packing a demo reel.:)
Hmm. If the intelligence and maturity of these games have given you the wit to come up with such cleverness as "Anal Fantasy" and "Philistine Star" I think I'll stick with ignorance.

Yes, it's built into XP.
Can I see Finding Nemo if I promise to skip Disney's next inhouse 2D animation? Pleeeease?

Did you even read what he's asking? He's saying that Max and etc. don't meet his neads. Gmax is just crippled Max, so why would he care?
Softimage XSI allows you to see OpenGL shaders in realtime. This may not be useful for a game being developed in Direct3D I suppose.
If you got some time (say, 3 months) you can get the free Softimage XSI Experience CD set from www.softimage.com.
Thanks grandpa! Tell me the story about how you walked to school 50 miles in the snow barefoot again!
Golly, it's a good thing you didn't spoil any of the story!
Finally we're getting even!
