Perhaps making multiple posts on/. would make one a conversation slut? F-Secure has a job in a particular line of work, involving security, of all things. Windows is the most widely used desktop OS. It would behoove the security company to announce any issues it finds with something like Windows, wouldn't it?
And the worst my mom can do with her computer is install spyware by accident, lose her e-mail archive and *.DOC with recipes she collects.
... and not even notice the worm that has automatically installed itself, the one that sends itself to everyone else. Nor will she know why Outlook Express is sending out twenty emails about Paris Hilton every five seconds. True story. I've seen it happen.
If the board decided that the person should be killed, then the board should be held for first degree murder. The person doing the actual killing is merely the weapon being used by the board to do the muder. The actual killer should also be held on the same charges.
Aiding and abetting would be the action of the board, after finding out that one of the members became a murderer, in covering up the crime.
More importantly... why do they have machines with sensitive information on the net? And if they absolutely *need* to be on the net, why not set up a honeypot in parallel, and also include multiple roadblocks through which an attacker would have to pass?
The fact of the matter is, there is a language out there specifically designed for people new to programming to dip their toe in the water and learn some of the basic concepts like loops, conditions and variables without having to worry about memory models, pointers and header files.
Yes. That language is called PASCAL.
In all seriousness, BASIC is not the language that you want to instruct students with. More viable languages are ones that get a programmer accustomed to the syntax and flow of one of the more serious languages, or are those languages themselves. I learned to program in C++. You don't have to touch pointers in order to learn how to progam. They can be introduced later on, as an extension or feature of the language.
Better yet, teach the students to program using Java or C#. One of the best features of those languages is the simplicity, the verbosity of the compiler errors, and the immediate satisfaction of having something substantial when it is all said and done.
My experience has been that the BoE blues that are world drops pale in comparison to the BoP instance drops. In order to get a BoP drop, you have to be in the instance, present whenever it drops. This counts for instances from Stratholme to MC to BWL.
Though the "lower" instances like Strat and Scholo don't require a whole lot of skill, the items you get from them aren't all that spectacular, when compared to an instance that requires a commitment of time and playing skill, like MC, BWL, ZG, and AQ.
The nice thing about WoW is that the gold farmers can only camp lines for the crappy rides. All the best things in the game require skill to acquire, as well as cohesive teamwork. If you haven't bothered to learn how to play, or pay money to "get stuff," you will *not* have the best gear, nor is it likely that people will want play alongside of you.
Hmm... I'm quite sure we can dig things up on MS, too. Actually, their UI shifts are just as frequent as Apple's, but they just never proclaimed to follow one set of UI guidelines.
For instance, Office 2003 has a completely different UI than Office XP, and even that one is different from Office 2K. Visual Studio.NET departed from the norm in UI, if you ever compare it to VS 6. Visio has some rather annoying UI features, too.
Also, the consistency of the UI from OS to OS is unstable. Win2K and WinXP were different enough to cause headaches, and it looks like the trend will continue with Vista. MS also does not enforce UI guidelines, in fact, it makes it very easy to create something that works back-asswords. Witness winamp, as an example.
My experience has shown that IQ has very little, if anything, to do with the ability to do a job. Some of the most intelligent individuals that I have met have shown a distinct lack of creativity, for instance, while some of the most creative individuals I've known have not been able to solve their way out of a paper sack. Let the individual's talents and preferences dictate the job that they'll do, not their IQ.
The other problem with hardware and drivers is that companies are unwilling to put the money into their development on such a fringe platform as Linux. Mix that, with the fact that those same companies are unlikely to release the hardware specifications of the product that they won't write drivers for. Put it all together, and you have OSS devs trying to reverse engineer the hardware, so that they can write a driver.
Much of it, I believe, is like putting together one of those 5,000 peice jigsaw puzzles that are a uniform color of purple, with no edge peices.
It is oxytocin, which is the female bonding / lactating chemical, not to be confused with oxycontin.;)
There is also PEA (phenylethylamine), which is an anti-depressent / stimulant that is present in higher concentrations during the beginning stages of a relationship (and obtained from chocolate too!). I would venture to say that this chemical has far more addictive qualities than NGF.
For some strange reason, I want to read the comments on every story that this dude posts... just to see the AC post that "* * Beatles Beatles is a spammeR!!!"

I also find it rather amusing that you talk about him having a condescending attitude, when just before that, you take the position of holier than thou. "Clean up your act" is something that I'd expect a parent to say to a child, not from some random poster with very little authority on the matter.
Phew, this has wandered too far off-topic. GG, burned karma.
I beg to differ. As an introvert, and knowing many introverts, what people think of me matters greatly. I may not seek to attain and hold attention, but this does not mean that I don't care. If someone hates me, or thinks I'm an idiot, I'd rather find out why and perhaps try to clear the air in a civil manner.
Introversion is merely the inward direction of the intuition/sensing and thinking/feeling as opposed to being directed outward. It has nothing to do with logic or reason. An INFP is no more logical than an ENFP; behavior is the only thing that is different.
The US had the reputation of being a paper tiger far earlier than Somalia, I'm thinking it started with Vietnam. Reagan pulled the marines out of Lebanon, when the Iranian funded Syrian terrorists were too much for them.
Granted we've all seen so-called Christian churches do bizarre things to seek the Lord on high through emotional states of quasi-consciousness in the name of new testament worship.
And the majority of Christian churches will frown upon the churches that do participate in these activities. There are certain dangers associated with the babbling human syndrom (as I call it). It is easy to be confused into believing that you are "filled with the Holy Spirit," even though there is no way of actually telling. Of course, Demons can NEVER step upon holy ground!
There is no such thing as a highly religious person that goes to church only once a week, and dosen't think about it between those periods. Such a person is a Homer Simpson, he goes mostly because EVERYONE else would think that much worse of him if he didn't. Especially Jebus. Of course, there are spiritual people who reject the institution, but not necessairly the enlightenment. Being religious is as much about being married to the institution as it is about following the faith, as I see it.
Nice troll. I happen to be highly religious, but only attend church on occasion. I am not married to the institution, however, I have been given faith, and I remain faithful. I also am not married to the "enlightenment," or whatever the hell that is. Christianity, for instance, is not about enlightnment at all. The core beliefs are ones of humility, faith, honor, and eventually salvation... salvation is nothing that you can earn, it is something that has been given.
I'm sure it is really easy to make some broad speculation, but it is really hard to make a broad speculation like the above without revealing yourself as just plain ignorant.
I don't know if the constitution applies to this, though. We have the whole state's rights thing to be concerned about. The question is whether it is constitutional under the Michigan State Constitution.
Not to trivialize your comment, but has anyone ever noticed that winkydink seems to be a little biased?

Why not? Seriously. The more languages, the better. That way, programmers can code in whatever they are most comfortable with.
