Even after teh summery I am still confused about how this new revelation applies in reality. Is it saying that the "correct way" for the sentence to go now is:
"Everyone needs to be sure to tighten __they__ safety belt before approaching the cliff." Or is it:
"Everyone needs to be sure to tighten __they's__ safety belt before approaching the cliff."
"a lack of respect in their attitude towards blacks"
While I think it is entirely arguable that this is true (and agree with it), it makes way too many assumptions. We know that police have a bias towards shooting whites, this is possibly because of a lack of respect towards black men, but I am only willing to state the undeniable facts not the motivations which we can only ever guess at.
Everyone should be treated with respect and consideration, and a lack of respect and consideration towards police has helped to create the situation where we are now (opinion). If people respected police more, they would likely respect them more, and possibly start shooting more blacks bringing a stricter and more thorough policing to the ghettos (opinion). Part of the reason police stopped policing black neighborhoods was people started holding them accountable, with police brutality and calling them biased. But police are supposed to be brutal, police are going to kill people, they will kill innocent people, and they will abuse their power. But they need to be above the law to a certain respect to conduct their business. Look at what all these years of holding police accountable has done, they have simply moved out of black neighborhoods. While our white communities thrive, they are over policed, white people are shot left and right by police, they are forced to undergo stops and frisks all out of proportion to the crimes committed in the area, but we respect police and treat them with consideration, and we have a white murder rate comparable to the safest European countries. While black communities have crime statistics that look like Congo or Sudan.
haven't presented ANYTHING in the way of documentation.
What would be the point? You can google search as well as I can, the studies have been published far and wide and are all over the web. I am not stating that some random individual study that aligned with my biases was conducted. I am saying we have an entire field of research that has approached this problem from every angle and come to a consistent consensus. If you can find a single study that show conclusively that swapping a man's face to white will not make him more of a police target, then I would be surprised. And honestly, if I would sway you by cherry picking a study for you to read, I would not even count that as a victory. The only way to find truth is to search for yourself, everyone else will embed their own biases in their arguments.
That does not undercut my argument. I am arguing against someone saying that "police show far more interest in Blacks, and police their neighborhoods far more thoroughly". While the exact opposite is true. I absolutely believe that the LAX attitude of police with respect to blacks is a huge detriment to the black communities. I believe that the LACK of police on black violence is absolutely a failing of the American justice system.
Also, no one is giving police any credit. No one is asking you to trust the word of police here. We have undeniable statistics and physiological testing that proves the police's bias towards shooting whites. You do not have to trust the word of any police officers to know that black neighborhoods get less policing, and murders, etc, committed by blacks get investigated less and more blacks get away with crimes than whites (at least crimes with victims, so we can measure their occurrence).
But that is the opposite of reality. Black neighborhoods have a far far lower police presence in regards to the crime rate. The safest whitest neighborhoods show many times more police stops and police presence per crime committed. Look at the numbers for police actions in New York for example. The black neighborhoods have a proportionate amount of police stops to the crime rate. while the white neighborhoods have over twice as much police action and presence per crime.
Crime and our statistics on it do not just come from police reports (this is not a he said she said scenario). Victims and witnesses come forward, non-police talk to these people get their statements, and occasional we even do national surveys on them. According to witnesses, according to victims, police arrests correspond to crimes committed, not some imaginary bias. Do you really think that millions of victims and witnesses annually are police plants? Paid to frame some black guy for a white crime?
I am not implying. I am stating it as a known fact. I am not sure where Asians come in, but they commit basically zero violent crimes, and very very few are shoot each year (less per their population than whites). This probably means that an Asian criminal is far more likely to be shot, but their criminal element is like 1% of that of other races.
Encountering has little effect, police encounter pretty much every human in America on a daily basic, and infact encounter other police a disproportionate amount (and yet police shooting police hardly ever happened). If you rob a store, if you murder someone, if you run around the streets with a gun, if you shoot at a police officer. The chance of you ending up killed by police is X if you are white. If you are black, it is a small fraction of X.
Every single serious violent crime is responded to, police encounter every single criminal. They shoot the white ones and peacefully arrest the black ones.
No, That is not how it works. their are places and times there things like this are needed simply to keep football fans form killing eachother. Preventing a bunch of football fans from burning a city to the ground only improves social cohesion.
And it has been proven time and again, through statistics and police testing, that police are far less likely to shoot a black man than a white man, all else held equal. Additionally the rate of police shootings have been plummeting over the last decades.
This is not what RT does. we do not even really have a name for what RT does, since their is no situation where their particular data analysis makes much sense. The closest thing might be a gauge of the inverse of how controversial a movie is. Really average crowd pleasures do well, and not much else. RT has loads (literally tens of thousands) of movies with 99-100% ratings. Most of them other sites label as 60%-75%. They are decent movies, that pretty much everyone likes, but no one really loves. They also have hosts of movies with 10-30% ratings that routinely get 80%+ on other sites, and have huge cult followings. They did not have a big advertising budget or were simply the wrong genre.
No, it was the Obama administration which decided people who have visited Middle Eastern Warzones warranted extra screening. And social media checks have been a standard practice for border guards for years now.
How do you even attempt to make any sort of phone call without first unlocking the phone and opening the the call app? Is their some secret password that calls 911 for you?
This is nonsense. Trump is a populous president. Like him or hate him that is his thing. His thing is turning the will of his base into reality.
Clinton has evolved on some minor issues, but her thing is being establishment which brings with it some internalized power. She does not have to agree with the public, she does not have to do what they want. Do you think the public actually wanted a war with Russia? No, that was just the politicians.
If Trump had been a politician for any amount of time we would of seen that as well, his base simply has not changed any of their opinions. Their were multiple times throughout the run where he tried changing his message and went back because of the feedback. That was actually one of the most common insults used on him throughout the early and middle of the race, that his policies changed every time you spoke to him.
Wow, Antarctica has some really weird shit going on. It either does not exist, is really small, the biggest continent, or possibly bigger than all other landmasses combined.
Wait, so the article is saying that since Apple is hardly even profitable in NZ, and makes next to nothing, it similarly does not pay many taxes? It is almost like their is a correlation between profits and taxes...
It's not like they are too poor or stupid to use toilets. A toilet does not have to be anything more than a hole in the ground with a stool over it. Shitting in the streets is just their culture, and India in not interested in changing just because you would prefer they used toilets.
The problem with this is that their is no good side to this. Maybe loads of people will be now be charged and jailed over what amounts to whiplash. Some injury that cannot be proven, but easily alleged.
And you know right now he is being bombarded on all sides with hundreds of similar tweets. The first forum I read about this on started immediately to send similar images to him in retaliation. Someone in Somalia will never have to worry about the FBI arresting them for an "assault Tweet", so will not think twice about sending one.
The Peter Principle is an observation that the tendency in most organizational hierarchies, such as that of a corporation, is for every employee to rise in the hierarchy through promotion until they reach the levels of their respective incompetence.
It is real and it causes a lot of problems. People expect promotions, meaning if you are even just slightly interested in your career you expect your boss to promote you at least a few times. And you expect a raise, probably once a year. You expect to make 4-40 times more by retirement than when you started, even if your responsibilities have stayed the same. In general people are either unhappy about being passed over, or end up making more then they are worth and/or with responsibilities they cannot fulfill. Its why a lot of jobs have become temporary or moved overseas. Perhaps Western corporations could hire Western talent, but when 80% of the talent expect to be running the factory by retirement age, and they all expect to be making 10% more in 1-2 years it becomes a lot harder. You hire a Somalian and they pray every night that they can keep their job for the rest of their life, that their salary will not be slashed, and possibly have the ability to hand it off to their son when they die.
This worked when America was still a developing nation, and demand doubled year in and year out. But expectation has continued to rise year after year as growth has stagnated.
I have Altered the Deal. Pray I do not.alter it further.
The health issues of space travel are well documented. He agreed to the salary and benefits in exchange for the work and risk involved. If he wants medical care, when he can give back the percentage of his salary that would of went towards that.
So far the most interesting part seems to be how they have studied foreign governments and entities, such that they can leave the fingerprints of a hack that can be traced back to whoever they want. Want to Blame Russia for a Hack? The CIA knows exactly how to do this.
You cannot really give Yahoo a reasonable evaluation. Just last year Yahoo's core business was evaluated to be worth around -$8 billion. That is how much the market valued Marissa Mayer. Yahoo, all through MM's stewardship was universally considered a black hole. They owned stocks worth a lot, they own buildings and a name worth money, but the business itself was not only worthless but a strain on the worth of everything around it.
Li-ion batteries are known for exploding if anything goes wrong with any part of them. When they fail, that seems to be their default mode (explosion and fire).
I am not really sure. From what I was reading, Hiroshima was incredibly inefficient. On the order of 1%. And next to the "15 kilotons of TNT", they seem to be indicating that that is just the theoretical number based on the mass of the payload. Implying that the Hiroshima explosion was just 1% of the number given (15 kt).
So it might actually be something closer to 400% of Fat Man. As for Little Boy (aka Hiroshima) it is either.7% or if I am reading this right 70% of the actual explosion of Hiroshima (minus the dirty bomb aspect).
Something else that makes it seem like even 70% is grossly underestimating it. I am reading that an interview with someone who I am guessing must know something about it, stated that only seven-tenths of a gram of uranium did anything at Hiroshima. And Wolfram alpha stated that this 100 MW hrs was equivalent to 4.4 grams of uranium. So by that comparison we get 630% of Hiroshima.
99% of people use the internet exclusively to look at animated junk on webpages.
