Because all "young middle easterners" are buddies and know each other in person, they all have everyones phone number and once a week they all meet up to do those middle eastern things together.
And they STILL let those terrorists hang out with them in their middle eastern clubroom. They should totally kick those guys out already.

  3. Unicode symbols in Code??? on Mr. Pike, Tear Down This ASCII Wall! · · Score: 1

    I don't get it.
When coding, I already am annoyed by the placement of on my keyboard, on a key that I don't reach easily (good thing i don't do html, hehe). Using lots of symbols, that require me to do a two-key combination, slow me down.
Now I'm supposed to use Unicode? Is that guy insane?
How am I supposed to type out unicode expressions on my keyboard, without typing in the whole 4 digit number?
And if I want to address a unicode-named variable, but I forgot the magical number to make it appear.. then what? Copy paste?

Must be a joke then, right.

This is a music program, that includes the voice feature, so people who can't sing, are able to produce music including vocals. Hatsune Miku is just one of several avatars for that program. So if you go out and search for "her" music, you'll realise, that it is almost entirely fanmade, free to listen music. In that sense, the "real" human idols created by big media on tv castings and such feel much more artificial to me, than the music amateurs make with this program, even if the avatar used to present it is not real.

But despite all the protests you still went to war. So they did not change anything yet. Now you are hoping that the next "Tony Blair" will remember that the last time protests were ignored, the guy in power lost his job. That the next guy will finally listen to the people. But that's assuming he is actually the one guy in power. That is not the case. He is a member of a party. The party will do what they want and if the public gets angry, the head figure gets switched for another one. Then it's of course a completly new party right? You can vote them again. It's not like you have much choice with only two, or three parties to choose from, like it's the case in most countrys,

In fact you can buy insurance for ships in EvE. It is an investment and you have to calculate the risk of losing the ship and getting your money back vs the "risk" of not losing it in a given time and wasting a lot of money on nothing. Some EvE players can chat endlessly about investments within EvE, you better not have them started. Im not one of them yet though.

  23. Re:Here is video of the battle... on EVE Online Battle Breaks Records (And Servers) · · Score: 2, Insightful

The whole point here and of this news is, that the victims of this battle (the big ships you see being shot at) were not able to to anything. The players supposed to control these ships were staring at a black screen for at least an hour. With no reaction from their targets there was no reason for the attacking fleet to do anything else besides just sitting there shooting them one by one. Compared to your average battle, this one was exceptionally boring. In a "real" EvE fight, you might have seen them reposition themselves from time to time, although they arent really suited for such maneuvres when being pinned down by faster ships. Smaller ships would be warping from spot to spot trying to get a good shot in and while staying alive.

This sounds awesome, but it would also result in a lot of spam incoming. Your charactername is visible to anyone, so your evemail-address is an easy target for any spam bot. And I dont think the current ingame evemail-system can handle spam as good as my Thunderbird can. It would be a mess. This goes for any out of game app by the way. The interface needs to be very carefully designed, so that macros/bots cant exploit the hell out of it.
