I don't ever come close to that on my charter account, but I would hope that if I did hit the cap, instead of cutting me off, Charter would simply drop me down to 256kb/s. Painful, but still usable.
Step 2 is especially effective when the victim that could have been saved is a young, blonde haired, blue eyed white girl from an upper middle class family!
And sadly, when People click on something like that, and what's supposed to happen happens, users get used to running applications from websites. This is a very bad thing indeed.
Would you rather them set off nukes to study these things? The reason is that it takes a crapload of calculations to map out every reaction between molecules in an area measured in square miles. (and because of a test ban treaty we signed, we can't set off 'real' nukes to test anymore, so we have to simulate it')
Many hospitals are using RFID not as an authentication, but as an identifier. IE, this is patient X, and these are their 13 medications, without having to scan all 13 medications at the same time. Embedded in prescription labels and wristbands and such.
I dissagree, I think that instead of increasing salaries of new teachers, we should be paying off college loans for new teachers. That would encourage people to go into education for the love, not for the money, and ensure that they are trained.
Your complaining about the lack of attention to detail in technology, in a movie that features a guy dressed in a bulletproof bat costume, that has all sorts of great devices that can do darn near anything? Is the batmobile correct? What about the bat-wing?
No, but I'd expect him to know the repercussions of what he was doing, based upon his job. We hold people to higher standards in professional careers. A fireman that is an arsonist (okay, a criminal one, every fireman is a pyromaniac), or a Policeman that robs banks deserve much higher sentences for violating the public trust.
Not that I would like to defend Comcast, but I do believe that most Cable phone service goes "out of band" and not over the internet. it uses a different frequency or channel on the cable than the internet connection. Kinda like DSL doesn't mean your phone is suddenly VOIP.
Your assuming most people install crap on their computers. You and I might, since were technically inclined, but the majority of people I have helped with their home computer have almost nothing installed that was not included with their computer (hell, they don't even have updates installed). Other than apps that install by visiting web pages. I have setup several relatives with Ubuntu. They browse the web with firefox, (especially Hulu.com) check email with theunderbird or webmail, chat with pidgin, and every time the icon at the top shows up, they click it to install updates.
But how many Vista netbooks do you see? The fact that MS has had to continue to allow companies to us XP in new products is a slap in the face to MS, and really hurts their profits. Microsoft has no choice but to allow XP to be used (and very cheaply) or face those companies moving to Linux.
That you mention "Apples Superbowl Commercial" and people know it. My dad knows, and is a real estate manager! That commercial really sticks in peoples mind. I would love to see apple come out with another commercial of that caliber. The Hal9000 commercial wasn't nearly as cool...
Really? Cause my Grandmother in Law is about to get Broadband. The whole family pitched in, when they found out she was still on dialup, and everytime someone emailed her a picture from one of their 7MP camera's, it would take more then 20 minutes of downloading for her to see it. Thats per picture. Sometimes people would have multiple pictures in an email. If all you do is browse with Linx, your right, otherwise, not so much?
I understand that. I was asking if looking at the market capitalization really said more about how the company was doing than its sales numbers? Do we now judge the success of tech companies by looking at what non-technical financial people think the company might be worth in the very short term?
Really, I think it says more of the "investors" that they think a company with sales of 700M a year should be worth (in market capitalization terms) the same or more than a company with sales of 13Billion a year.
But think of all the other problems this will cause with Views from yachts and Mansions.. err. Think of the poor birds! Think of the fish! For God's sake, think of the children!
Can't agree more.. Please don't actually TALK on your unlimited plan. Please use text messaging, as its basically free for us to send through the network, and we get to charge you $0.25 each for them! (and in reality, they charge twice for one message sent/received)
I can see it now.. the board of doctors, sitting around a conference table, looking at a list of names.. Then looking at their shiny laptops, and their iPhones, and moving a page from the bottom to the top of the stack.
Actually, really curious is what would happen if the President of VP of the US needed a transplant?
Got to love the free market folks. That companies are going to self regulate to keep themselves alive and thrive. The poster mentioned that the POSTED power conumption was.1watt, but AVERAGED 15Watts in standby. So the company lied, which prevents a knowledgeable consumer from purchasing the product that best suits their needs. The poster never said that the government should tell you what to do, but maybe they should actually test published numbers.
And really, if people/companies etc will always do whats in their best interest to survive, why do we have stoplights and street signs and speed limits..
in my area, the number of NEW voters skyrocketed. However, many republicans that voted in the last election did not vote in this one. So while the numbers don't look impressive, they are. A whole new group got excited in voting. Maybe in the next election, if the Republicans can get a candidate that doesn't start every damn sentence with either "my friends" or "when I was a POW" the republicans will vote too, causing huge spikes.

I would say that it is because of bribes, but in the world of governments and cable companies, they are called franchise fees.

I like your idea. The other one I heard that I liked was that you can't implement a new law, till you remove an old one!

The push to expand broadband is to extend it where it is not available. There are HUGE areas of the country with No choice in the matter.

Honestly, does "market Capitalization" mean more than 700M in sales vs. 13B in sales?

I'm curious how the SEC can punish a company for complying with other federal guidelines, such as HIPPA.
Damn these Troll/Insightful submissions. They tear at my insides....
