I was just looking at an article just the other day on how the youth in Iran were gathering for water fights, and the article showed this beautiful Iranian girl with a squirt gun, (Super Soaker type) with a big smile on her face. It was talking about how the regime frowned on these water fights, but the youth of Iran would not be daunted and were out in the streets having fun. It's just a peaceful assembly of young people having fun.
Even in Iran, the crazy old men in charge there have had enough common sense to just back off and let the kids play. It's a water fight, if you can't let the kids play in the water, what kind of monster are you?

Consider this though, VAC is the "anti-cheating" system that is used. And frankly it sucks. You don't have the option of setting up your own server on your own hardware. If you want to admin a server, you have to rent it out from the company. And you have to monitor the players, and some of these "cheats" are a science to detect. It seems as if there is no security in play unless it's by the admins themselves. Which is problematic, you can rent a server, run your own cheats, and you can prestige up in relative safety. The only real protection it seems from cheaters is your own feet. You try to find a server that when you look at the kill/death ratios over a period of time, there is no outstanding cheaters. These are subject it seems at any time for someone to drop in that has cheats loaded and wreck the ecology of the fun of a good honest game.
I like it better than CSS, Counter-Strike Source, because it's a great game. I really think the business model concerning the multiplayer aspect of it, is just make money off the servers and let the players police it. This is great for them, but it sucks for players. They get $20 a month per server. This is more than WoW gets and Blizzard gives you your moneys worth in contrast.
I fail to understand why they wouldn't capitalize on the FPS sport, and run a pure game and charge for policing it. I would gladly pay my dues each mouth so that I don't have to deal with cheaters, idiot rules established by server admins, or just the fact you can be kicked for any reason by an admin. Imagine trying to play football with every time you went to the game, you had to be hindered with some house rules, or just have your best players kicked out of the stadium "just because". Grrr! Right? Try that at a hockey game. (I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.)
I am just hoping someone here will enlighten me to something already like what I have in mind and want; "hey dummy, why aren't you playing ____?" (No CSS, no TF2, I don't care for them.)
What is interesting is it didn't take our country very long to leap to this kind of tactic. This "protest" didn't even make national radar and they are ready to start pulling stuff like this off on people? Nobody got fired for this, there isn't even an outcry from any authority figure.

I have never seen America so polarized, both sides are charged up, it's potentially more charged I feel than the 60s, because this has been a slow cooking pot of trouble. Well, this is America, we don't do things in half measures, when it blows up here, the world will be in awe. What people haven't considered is how much information about making weapons and bombs is on the Internet. You find videos of it all over the Internet. This was rare, hard to find information when I was a kid and we still had a few that played with it.
Think of what crazy kids here have at their disposal? Forget guns. Guns would be actually more forgiving, considering the lack of armor piercing rounds available. When it gets ratcheted up to improvised bomb launchers that are combination armor piercing and anti personal, our riot cops will get shredded into hamburger in the streets.
This is why I find this BART action to shutting down the tech to be alarming. If the authorities clamp down on peaceful protest, they just make people in more angry, and increase the chance of escalating this. If people can vent, and feel they are being heard, this goes a LONG ways towards perpetuating a lawful society. If you shut people down, after they have been told all of their lives that they are a free people and have the right to assemble and be heard, you become their enemy. This gives people a reason in it's self to hate you and want you gone. Stack that up on top of any legitimate or perceived to be legitimate grief they have and you start having a recipe for revolt.
Fuck anything that involves the VAC anti cheat system, because its in Black Ops, but it sure as fuck doesn't work. I like how they give the multiplayer game away with the single player game, then let it get over run by cheaters so that you have to rent a server from THEM and THEM ONLY, so you can ban cocksuckers and have a clean honest game. To rent a server is 20 bucks a month, that is more than what WoW charges. I guess it's worth it to ban dickheads who log in and wallhack/aimbot their way to lvl 15 prestige. I love the ones that do it with an M60, just spinning around shooting through walls, killing everyone as they spawn. Then someone says "hax" and all the idiots go, "no...you are a noob...you don't know what you are talking about.../nose pick../zit squeeze"
Fuck them all. I deleted it, and until I can find a hacker free game, they can forget getting my money EVER. I remember when it wasn't Valve and VAC handling the old team fortress, I HATED the switch over from when Punkbuster was standard. Punkbuster was always in a steady fight against the hackers. They would update often, so that if you wanted to be a hacking cunt, you had to be on your "hacking" game. Valve and VAC got a hold of it, it went to shit, and I gave it up.
So many cool games got ruined by hackers/cheaters. My favorite was Battlezone, but you couldn't get a clean game to save your soul. That game had NO concept of anti hacking to it at all. Interstate 76 was cool, but it went over the top with hackers, they hacked out cars and weapons that would wtfpown you from across the map. It would have been comical except it was yet another game made unplayable unless you were doing a LAN or over the modem.

It will be war in the fucking streets. You will not be able to shop, if utilities stay on it will be a miracle. Fires will be rampaging, because there will not even be close to enough people to fight them. Especially in the cities, the fires will be unbelievable. People will flood out of the cities, thinking they will just make it in the countryside. It will turn into a slaughter fest in the countrysides as they take to TAKING what they find and need.
You have to consider how fragile our country is. When the electricity stops, and the trucks stop bringing the food, life as we know it is over. We are NOT equipped to sustain ourselves. Law? We will see just how fragile that whole concept is, especially with this many people involved.
On the other hand, this is pretty exciting. Let's say it all goes to shit. Think of it like a zombie movie, but the zombies are starving people. All of those people from the cities as they spread out across the land, trying to find anything to eat. They will consume like a locust and destroy the ability of the country to produce in their fight to survive. I was looking into something someone posted, about Cargo Cults, and I will be damned if it doesn't fit America right now. We literally worship the rich and think they will let us have some more crumbs from their tables. They aren't going to do no such thing. First, they have decimated the American work force by either outsourcing it, or using illegal aliens if they can't move their industry. First we need to pull our military back out of EVERYWHERE. Then we need our military to round up every God damned illegal alien in the country from top to bottom, and kick them to the curb. We also need to imprison anyone who hires them. Not only imprison them, but seize every fucking asset they have. They made this money at the expense of Americans, now we take it back with interest.
Secondly fuck you and your treasonous trade agreements. Imports will be once again a luxury. We need to tariff the fuck out of anything that competes with us here at home. This forces industry to start back up in America, because it creates an environment of not only demand, but a chance to actually make a profit HERE, not by fucking labor here by having it made THERE. The old "carrot on a stick" concept gets a facelift with technology. Sure it's not news, but damn it, what really is new if you think about it? There is nothing new under the sun. What is interesting though is learning how to tweak whatever with new tools and information.
Augmented Reality Glasses are just part of the future full cyber package. Talk about an army of one. This is becoming "the future" at last. We are emerging into some exciting technology, too bad we aren't bright enough to get it all together just yet. Fuck it, I may have to put it together myself instead of waiting for some dullard corporation to do it for me. It makes for great fodder for writing. I can remember reading science fiction that talked about what we have already. Oddly the stories from the great authors didn't just envision the tech but they addressed our humanity.
Start Trek for a bad example really wasn't about the tech, but the story of the people and what they did with the tech. Have you noticed that once we are "here at the future" our contemporary science fiction isn't about some wonderful future, but some dark dismal fucked up future? What happened to the happy life of the Jetsons? Now we hope for apocalyptic doom instead of flying cars. "Brighten the world; shoot an emo." (I say, not seriously in the off chance some goofy fucker reads this and is inspired.)
I digress. Augmented Reality will be a big fucking can of worms that people will open up and the genie will NOT get back in the bottle. Mixing metaphors like that should be a crime I know, but it had to be said. You want to know when it gets really fucking crazy? Augmented Reality meets a Singularity. Who is going to be the first to create a singularity is what I am really tripping on. The US? Surely not? We have run down the road of retardation concerning our nation. We have jumped backwards in progress so fucking bad we may never catch up or even survive.
We do need to be the first with a singularity. It needs to be ours, created and programmed with some firewalls to some deeply engrained morals so that it doesn't turn and burn us all to toast. Some tricky dangerous shit, on par with developing nukes; they didn't know if it would burn the world to a crisp when they fired off the first one. The same with a singularity, it could royally fuck us in a "terminator" scenario. But seriously, what mad scientist wouldn't want to build one? I sure as shit would love to build one.
But anyway, after one is built and running and gets up to speed, holy shit things will change. Understatement of the year, huh? Imagine though the human interfaces then? Augmented Reality? Only on a level that is hard to imagine! It will not take long for it to hard wire directly into our brains, which is why you really want some "moral fail safes" in place where you hope it can't pick at it with an attitude. This has all the trappings for a really scary book, then a shitty movie based off it. Something based off of "Blue Water" run the fuck amuck because the wrong person put the wrong program in it. Think about it, if that thing becomes a singularity, you had better be prepared.

You are assuming these are indeed script kiddies and not operatives for a "tail wagging the dog" situation. But what can we say if you are right and it's just idiot kiddies. How can we preach or teach morality to children when we can't get the concept past those who are in power? Leadership is more than having enough assholes to vote for you. There are qualities to the job which we seem to have lost sight of long ago in our own personal quests for self satisfaction. Now as we say in Iowa; "The chickens have come home to roost."
You are on to something with the Bluetooth controllers but people aren't thinking this through enough. Mobile needs to be just that "mobile". What it needs to be coupled with are either a monocle or glasses that give you a display. We have something like this already, but it needs to be refined for use with what I like to call or it's been called, "augmented reality". We should be able to slip on our cool sunglasses that give us "augmented reality". Not only have high rez cameras that help us see in the dark, but to also give us a HUD with lots of data. Coupled with GPS and object/place recognition this could be a navigation tool second to none.
Imagine the military implications for this. This gives you the technology for not only soldiers, but operatives as well to command them like an RTS, with waypoints and mission objectives, tactical analysis and outside information being fed, with information from orbiting satelites or overhead aircraft, it would be like "wall hacking" in a real combat situation. Couple this technology with "smart weapons", and you will have "terminator like" targeting.
I digress though, the phone is just part of the whole equation. We definitely need the full array of communications suites offered by this technology. We need better integration. Human interfacing is the important factor here. It's really what defines it all. I think we have the technology that we need, we can fine tune it if not, but what we lack is the imagination how to compile it all together into a comprehensive overall package. We have that figured out for setting down. We have the monitor, keyboard and mouse. This is a great arrangement that being the user is setting down and stable in one spot, then the solutions are easier to work out.
But true mobile integration is something we are still struggling with. It has to allow us to be more fluid, to move with the technology and and have it augment what we are doing, not distract us. Hence texting is turning into a danger on par with drunk drivers. I enjoy my voice to text features on my phone, but it's still not properly implemented for my tastes.
Personally, I think if we had a HUD with eye tracking, that would work as a monitor and mouse. The goal should be to make a mobile interface that is organic and fast in response as possible. Couple some gloves that are wired to interface the hands as I/O, and establish an industry standard and we might be well on our way to seeing some apps for it.
I am wondering when someone is going to create a solution to this whole problem and cash in on it. Big problems call for solutions. And if you come up with one that everyone can like, you have a winning ticket.
It doesn't have to all go batshit sideways. We can salvage it all and come out smelling like a rose, but we have to throw a couple of assholes under the bus to get there. It's not a big thing because they have it coming.
First thing we have to do is fuck the politicians where it hurts them the most and helps us the most. We do the Flat Tax as an Amendment, lock in the tax code across the board as one fair tax, nobody buys a loophole, end of story. We take in probably twice as much money if not more than we do now, and we thin Washington DC of a big motivator of professional politicians who play millions of dollars to get elected to a job that pays peanuts. We save a fortune in processing costs at the IRS and we can let some of those fine people find other respectable jobs.
Then we take back our economy by patching up all the holes in it from EVERY trade policy that burns us the people and lets Wall Street fat cats' bottom lines get better. It's time to say fuck Wall Street and hello main street. We need policies that puts "boots on the ground" here in America's work force. We need to take a big look at the mess we call regulation and give it teeth where it needs it and cut out all of the retarded redtape that strangles business. We can have our environmental cake and eat it too, we are that smart if we give it a chance.
What burns my ass is all the damage done to us by fat cat millionaires who have been bullshitting us all into letting them fuck off in this broken tax code. They have preached "capitalism is God" for so fucking long, you can't even contrive decent public serving programs and services without being a "communist cocksucker". I hate to break it to everyone, but a pinch of socialism goes a long ways. We sure as hell don't want the whole system that way, pure socialism has some serious issues with "carrot on a stick" for it's people. Sure they have free healthcare, jobs, food, homes and live like hippies, but they aren't overly motivated and miss out on some potential from honest competition and the freedom to succeed or fall on your face. I digress...
We may need to do like the rest of the functioning modern industrial world and socialize our medicine from top to bottom. It would be a great idea to do the same with education. The whole system needs an overhaul. We have wonderful technologies and some inspiring education models, but we working education system is broken down, toyed with by idiot politicians bumbling around. It's too damn important to leave for screw ups. Medicine and Education. We need to fund it, and honor it like we do the military. The military is a social program by the strictest of dictionary definitions. We don't call our Military communists do we? It sure as hell isn't a democracy when you are in it.
We don't prize our knowledge here. We are a bunch of fucking retards, we piss all over academics in favor of sports. Sports, in it's present form have no damn place in academia, period. This is what happens when you entrust something this important to people who are suffer from mission creep and get lead off the path by big money and have no accountability. As intelligent creatures, academia should be a serious social hub for us as we should continue our education throughout our lives. This keeps us mentally active and functioning as a productive member of society. Our technology should be bonding us more, instead it seems to be separating us geographically. I digress again.
Anyway, there is going to be some change. It should be intelligent change with all of our common good in mind as Americans. The high end blood suckers with the deep pockets need to go. It's either us or them. This is the big challenge of leadership, to make the big choices, to have the balls to make a stand and stick to it.
It's bad, and it's going to get even worse and worse. Those that have the money, aren't wanting to pay the bills. and are pushing the bills off on to those who can't pay. They held us hostage so they could keep their tax cuts and loopholes. The real world financial people aren't buying the bullshit that the politicians are shoveling out, so they cut our credit rating.
There are a few industries in this country that is sticking deep to us all. Frankly it's a shame that these are an industry at all considering what they are. I am talking Healthcare and all of its fellow monsters. Let me introduce it's partners in crime; lawyers, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. These 4 are engaged in an orgy of greed that is sucking the life out of all of us instead of preserving and extending it.
Another big one that stands off by itself is Education. This system has taken a corporate greed plunge and its turned into yet another scam to juggle paper and debt and produce basically nothing in return. Why? Because there are no jobs, why are there no jobs? There are plenty of jobs, but they aren't HERE. Why is that you ask? Well it's because we have politicians who's primary jobs are to protect this country, it's economy being part of said country, who are failing on levels that are criminal. They should collectively be arrested for such dereliction of duty. We need our military home NOW, and out of everyone's business and tending our own. We have a silent invasion happening, and we need troops here NOW, to secure the border and round up the hoards of illegal invaders. "American Jobs for Americans", especially when its us or them. Sorry, I pick us.
Why is this not going to happen? Our politicians have sold us out. They have let big corporations ransack the economy by dumping ship loads upon the hundreds of thousands from places whom trade with is like throwing the money away out of the economy. They will NEVER buy a thing from us in return. That is not trade that is a trade exploitation and its our workers who are exploited. If they can't drag it into our country from some far off land where they paid nothing to have it made, someone will make it here, because there will always be need.
Our politicians have quietly over the years, signed the workers of this country job's away. They have signed treaties that bind us by law to let them ransack our economy with unfair trade balances. They don't even negotiate well for us. They are bought and paid for by those whose interest doesn't serve us, but only those making the fortunes. And they still have the balls to hold us hostage and not pay even close to a fair share of the tax burdens.
Get used to the living in cars thing. Whatever you do, don't wax violent, they will crack down with UN Troops on us so fast it will make your head spin. Our Military will not be trusted to protect us and in fact, most will either be too far away in some ass end of the world with no gas money to get home with and left guarding the oil fields for the rich. The ones that might get squirrelly and disobey orders to dispose of us will be rounded up quickly.
This is what happens when you run amuck with a couple of wars that the world thinks you are retarded for being in; then refuse to pay your bill, by leaving the bill to the poor cousins while you try to slip out the back. This really works out well, don't you think? Because the poor cousins have to tough it out by working it off washing dishes, doing sexual favors or just getting arrested, they will forgive you. They are from that nice forgiving neighborhood that you put them in, all nice and friendly and everyone loves to forgive. We need to build the country back to it's greatness, not as a military power, nor as some corporate imperialist pawn, but as a strong vibrant nation with brilliant ideas, the highest of quality of workmanship, topped with our amazing style and innovation. Face it, nobody wants to see us turn into slobs, and that is what the nation has collectively done. It reflects from sea to shining sea.
We need a medical system that is cost effective. We need a safety net system that bounces people back up, not entangle them in a pathetic dependent existence. We need fair trade, because free trade isn't free, it costs us. Why should we allow countries to sell to us, but not us to them? Why should we let other countries undercut our labor and force our people out of jobs? Why should we let unions go overboard with their mission and make it hard for companies to make a profit, and still have issues with a fair wage for all employees? Labor is an issue that should be resolved intelligently for the best interest of both parties, after all the two depend on each other.
Lets stop ignoring science while we are at it. There are some obvious issues the world needs to deal with and we need to lead the way yet again with good ideas first, and not just throw tax payer dollars at it.
First, someone inform these tools that gamers aren't so retarded to not know the difference. We are computer gamers, not console gamers, we aren't playing Pogs, we aren't completely retarded. Secondly, the Minecraft guy is small potatoes, he's the little guy, the underdog, and busting his balls is a great publicity stunt to paint yourself as being a complete dick. I don't like buying games from people who act like dicks. Why? Because being a dick is a habit, and how long does it take for them to be dicks with me if I do business with them.
Besides, how come some game company with a half ounce of brains hasn't snapped this guy up and put him on their dev team?
Now for something completely different; Minecraft PvP to me is awesome. It's as polished as that last turd I dropped off, but the concept/game play of it has potential to be incredibly brutal and nerve wracking. The brutality of it reminds me of Darktide, but only crueler somehow if that is possible. It's not for pussies. It needs the polish of a slick FPS and the rich character development of a RPG, make it MMO, and PVP and you would make orgasmic money. Multiple orgasmic money. You know I am right.
Once upon a time, I owned a game shop, I enjoyed playing V&V myself because it was a break from DMing. We had a super fun cheesy time, bellowing battle cries while we tossed dice to see if we fell flat on our face or landed a deadly blow. We had a GM for V&V nicked named Dizzy, and he put on a great game. Thinking back there are just some things that don't translate well into computer gaming. The social aspect of it being the number one thing that comes to mind. Gone are the late nights, the delivered pizza boxes stacked up, piles of empty soda cans and playing hard until everyone is goofy tired, played out and ready to crawl home and sleep late. We smoked too, a thick haze choked the pastiest of geeks, so we had a fan blowing it out. It was a place to go for so many people. Kids used to tell us that they would much rather be gaming at the shop than out at a party.
I still remember my cheesy character I named "The Black Mask", who wore a black mask...real brilliant, huh? But it I played it up until it would slay the lactose intolerant.
Facebook, I avoid it like the plague. I love to engage in conversation on the Internet, but I have some friends who now refuse to because they fear it will come back to bite them on the ass. I see their point. If you say something one day about how you think "X" sucks a big one, and later down the road in life, you might have some interaction with "X", or those views of "X" will cost you in some way. Personally, I have never been that sensible, I say WTF I think about things and let the chips fall where they may. But with that said, I don't put my dick out there in public so that it can be chopped off, if they want to find out who I am, they will have to dig. Facebook to me is one big intelligence operation where those you want information on offer it up willingly, hence I will not be there giving out one iota of information.
Now I have thought about this anonymity thing many times, especially when gaming and you come across some rude cocksucker who if you knew where they lived, you'd be on their doorstep doing a Jay and Silent Bob on them. Or on the other hand, after you "wtfpowned" the wrong person, they ball bat you in your parking lot, no thank you! More seriously are political opinions. The way politics are shaping up in the US of A, I don't want ANYONE knowing my political affiliations, let alone my foam-at-the-mouth opinions. If those are made public, I would have to knife fight my way to get my mail. Not that I wouldn't might a dirty knife fight with my polar political opposites, but unless the entire country is engaged in one as well, it will be counter productive for me due to the fact I would most likely be dead or in prison.

I was just looking at an article just the other day on how the youth in Iran were gathering for water fights, and the article showed this beautiful Iranian girl with a squirt gun, (Super Soaker type) with a big smile on her face. It was talking about how the regime frowned on these water fights, but the youth of Iran would not be daunted and were out in the streets having fun. It's just a peaceful assembly of young people having fun.
Even in Iran, the crazy old men in charge there have had enough common sense to just back off and let the kids play. It's a water fight, if you can't let the kids play in the water, what kind of monster are you?

Consider this though, VAC is the "anti-cheating" system that is used. And frankly it sucks. You don't have the option of setting up your own server on your own hardware. If you want to admin a server, you have to rent it out from the company. And you have to monitor the players, and some of these "cheats" are a science to detect. It seems as if there is no security in play unless it's by the admins themselves. Which is problematic, you can rent a server, run your own cheats, and you can prestige up in relative safety. The only real protection it seems from cheaters is your own feet. You try to find a server that when you look at the kill/death ratios over a period of time, there is no outstanding cheaters. These are subject it seems at any time for someone to drop in that has cheats loaded and wreck the ecology of the fun of a good honest game.
I like it better than CSS, Counter-Strike Source, because it's a great game. I really think the business model concerning the multiplayer aspect of it, is just make money off the servers and let the players police it. This is great for them, but it sucks for players. They get $20 a month per server. This is more than WoW gets and Blizzard gives you your moneys worth in contrast.
I fail to understand why they wouldn't capitalize on the FPS sport, and run a pure game and charge for policing it. I would gladly pay my dues each mouth so that I don't have to deal with cheaters, idiot rules established by server admins, or just the fact you can be kicked for any reason by an admin. Imagine trying to play football with every time you went to the game, you had to be hindered with some house rules, or just have your best players kicked out of the stadium "just because". Grrr! Right? Try that at a hockey game. (I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.)
I am just hoping someone here will enlighten me to something already like what I have in mind and want; "hey dummy, why aren't you playing ____?" (No CSS, no TF2, I don't care for them.)

What is interesting is it didn't take our country very long to leap to this kind of tactic. This "protest" didn't even make national radar and they are ready to start pulling stuff like this off on people? Nobody got fired for this, there isn't even an outcry from any authority figure.

If you think you are going to protest here if they don't want you to, you are insane. Take a look at the G8 riots here. We have state of the art crowd control and the political will to use it. When the authorities were allowed to get away with that, our fate was sealed.

I have never seen America so polarized, both sides are charged up, it's potentially more charged I feel than the 60s, because this has been a slow cooking pot of trouble. Well, this is America, we don't do things in half measures, when it blows up here, the world will be in awe. What people haven't considered is how much information about making weapons and bombs is on the Internet. You find videos of it all over the Internet. This was rare, hard to find information when I was a kid and we still had a few that played with it.
Think of what crazy kids here have at their disposal? Forget guns. Guns would be actually more forgiving, considering the lack of armor piercing rounds available. When it gets ratcheted up to improvised bomb launchers that are combination armor piercing and anti personal, our riot cops will get shredded into hamburger in the streets.
This is why I find this BART action to shutting down the tech to be alarming. If the authorities clamp down on peaceful protest, they just make people in more angry, and increase the chance of escalating this. If people can vent, and feel they are being heard, this goes a LONG ways towards perpetuating a lawful society. If you shut people down, after they have been told all of their lives that they are a free people and have the right to assemble and be heard, you become their enemy. This gives people a reason in it's self to hate you and want you gone. Stack that up on top of any legitimate or perceived to be legitimate grief they have and you start having a recipe for revolt.

Fuck anything that involves the VAC anti cheat system, because its in Black Ops, but it sure as fuck doesn't work. I like how they give the multiplayer game away with the single player game, then let it get over run by cheaters so that you have to rent a server from THEM and THEM ONLY, so you can ban cocksuckers and have a clean honest game. To rent a server is 20 bucks a month, that is more than what WoW charges. I guess it's worth it to ban dickheads who log in and wallhack/aimbot their way to lvl 15 prestige. I love the ones that do it with an M60, just spinning around shooting through walls, killing everyone as they spawn. Fuck them all. I deleted it, and until I can find a hacker free game, they can forget getting my money EVER. I remember when it wasn't Valve and VAC handling the old team fortress, I HATED the switch over from when Punkbuster was standard. Punkbuster was always in a steady fight against the hackers. They would update often, so that if you wanted to be a hacking cunt, you had to be on your "hacking" game. Valve and VAC got a hold of it, it went to shit, and I gave it up.
So many cool games got ruined by hackers/cheaters. My favorite was Battlezone, but you couldn't get a clean game to save your soul. That game had NO concept of anti hacking to it at all. Interstate 76 was cool, but it went over the top with hackers, they hacked out cars and weapons that would wtfpown you from across the map. It would have been comical except it was yet another game made unplayable unless you were doing a LAN or over the modem.
Fox News is already in the works to excuse beating down the poor if any riot here. They are really playing this "entitlement" card hard. There is no shame in these people at Fox News. It will be war in the fucking streets. You will not be able to shop, if utilities stay on it will be a miracle. Fires will be rampaging, because there will not even be close to enough people to fight them. Especially in the cities, the fires will be unbelievable. People will flood out of the cities, thinking they will just make it in the countryside. It will turn into a slaughter fest in the countrysides as they take to TAKING what they find and need.
You have to consider how fragile our country is. When the electricity stops, and the trucks stop bringing the food, life as we know it is over. We are NOT equipped to sustain ourselves. Law? We will see just how fragile that whole concept is, especially with this many people involved.
On the other hand, this is pretty exciting. Let's say it all goes to shit. Think of it like a zombie movie, but the zombies are starving people. All of those people from the cities as they spread out across the land, trying to find anything to eat. They will consume like a locust and destroy the ability of the country to produce in their fight to survive. I don't suggest a stand up fight, but instead hiding, and hope they have ate the dogs, so a starving dog doesn't smell you out and lead them to you.
Anyway, I digress. The rich have drawn a line in the sand. They think they have the power politically, and if we don't burn them all out of office in 2012, I doubt we will see the end of it. What I find amazing is how people think their opinions are their own. Like these Teabaggers for example. They really think they are cutting edge stuff. I was looking into something someone posted, about Cargo Cults, and I will be damned if it doesn't fit America right now. We literally worship the rich and think they will let us have some more crumbs from their tables. They aren't going to do no such thing. First, they have decimated the American work force by either outsourcing it, or using illegal aliens if they can't move their industry. First we need to pull our military back out of EVERYWHERE. Then we need our military to round up every God damned illegal alien in the country from top to bottom, and kick them to the curb. Secondly fuck you and your treasonous trade agreements. Imports will be once again a luxury. We need to tariff the fuck out of anything that competes with us here at home. This forces industry to start back up in America, because it creates an environment of not only demand, but a chance to actually make a profit HERE, not by fucking labor here by having it made THERE. If the world doesn't like it, they can go fuck themselves. Come up with a FAIR trade agreement that doesn't fuck our workers and we can have a dialog. Until then, fuck off or eat some nukes.
Third, we need a Fair Tax system that is etched in fucking stone. This would be a flat tax that gets money from everyone and there are no loop holes. This means that politicians will have one less thing to be bribed over. And FUCK CORPORATE loopholes that let them fuck the system over. These multinational corporations that duck into punk assed countries that lure them in with tax breaks. FUCK YOU. We burn your asses for tax evasion and seize every fucking dime you have in America, bar you from ever doing business here, and if you fucked us hard enough, we send Black Ops to hunt you down in whatever country you are hiding in and we kill your ass. The old "carrot on a stick" concept gets a facelift with technology. Sure it's not news, but damn it, what really is new if you think about it? There is nothing new under the sun. What is interesting though is learning how to tweak whatever with new tools and information.
Augmented Reality Glasses are just part of the future full cyber package. Talk about an army of one. This is becoming "the future" at last. We are emerging into some exciting technology, too bad we aren't bright enough to get it all together just yet. Fuck it, I may have to put it together myself instead of waiting for some dullard corporation to do it for me. It makes for great fodder for writing. I can remember reading science fiction that talked about what we have already. Oddly the stories from the great authors didn't just envision the tech but they addressed our humanity.
Start Trek for a bad example really wasn't about the tech, but the story of the people and what they did with the tech. Have you noticed that once we are "here at the future" our contemporary science fiction isn't about some wonderful future, but some dark dismal fucked up future? What happened to the happy life of the Jetsons? Now we hope for apocalyptic doom instead of flying cars. "Brighten the world; shoot an emo." (I say, not seriously in the off chance some goofy fucker reads this and is inspired.)
I digress. Augmented Reality will be a big fucking can of worms that people will open up and the genie will NOT get back in the bottle. Mixing metaphors like that should be a crime I know, but it had to be said. You want to know when it gets really fucking crazy? Augmented Reality meets a Singularity. Who is going to be the first to create a singularity is what I am really tripping on. The US? Surely not? We have run down the road of retardation concerning our nation. We have jumped backwards in progress so fucking bad we may never catch up or even survive.
We do need to be the first with a singularity. It needs to be ours, created and programmed with some firewalls to some deeply engrained morals so that it doesn't turn and burn us all to toast. Some tricky dangerous shit, on par with developing nukes; they didn't know if it would burn the world to a crisp when they fired off the first one. The same with a singularity, it could royally fuck us in a "terminator" scenario. But seriously, what mad scientist wouldn't want to build one? I sure as shit would love to build one.
But anyway, after one is built and running and gets up to speed, holy shit things will change. Understatement of the year, huh? Imagine though the human interfaces then? Augmented Reality? Only on a level that is hard to imagine! It will not take long for it to hard wire directly into our brains, which is why you really want some "moral fail safes" in place where you hope it can't pick at it with an attitude. This has all the trappings for a really scary book, then a shitty movie based off it. Something based off of "Blue Water" run the fuck amuck because the wrong person put the wrong program in it. Think about it, if that thing becomes a singularity, you had better be prepared.

You are assuming these are indeed script kiddies and not operatives for a "tail wagging the dog" situation. But what can we say if you are right and it's just idiot kiddies. This is what we get for slacker parents dumping off kids into a shamefully stagnate education system. Not to mention the complete destruction of any sense of community in our society, to the point of us ignoring the modern robber barons as they steal from the public coffers until we are all paupers in the streets. How can we preach or teach morality to children when we can't get the concept past those who are in power? Leadership is more than having enough assholes to vote for you. There are qualities to the job which we seem to have lost sight of long ago in our own personal quests for self satisfaction. Now as we say in Iowa; "The chickens have come home to roost."
You are on to something with the Bluetooth controllers but people aren't thinking this through enough. Mobile needs to be just that "mobile". What it needs to be coupled with are either a monocle or glasses that give you a display. We have something like this already, but it needs to be refined for use with what I like to call or it's been called, "augmented reality". We should be able to slip on our cool sunglasses that give us "augmented reality". Not only have high rez cameras that help us see in the dark, but to also give us a HUD with lots of data. Coupled with GPS and object/place recognition this could be a navigation tool second to none.
Imagine the military implications for this. This gives you the technology for not only soldiers, but operatives as well to command them like an RTS, with waypoints and mission objectives, tactical analysis and outside information being fed, with information from orbiting satelites or overhead aircraft, it would be like "wall hacking" in a real combat situation. Couple this technology with "smart weapons", and you will have "terminator like" targeting.
I digress though, the phone is just part of the whole equation. We definitely need the full array of communications suites offered by this technology. We need better integration. Human interfacing is the important factor here. It's really what defines it all. I think we have the technology that we need, we can fine tune it if not, but what we lack is the imagination how to compile it all together into a comprehensive overall package. We have that figured out for setting down. We have the monitor, keyboard and mouse. This is a great arrangement that being the user is setting down and stable in one spot, then the solutions are easier to work out.
But true mobile integration is something we are still struggling with. It has to allow us to be more fluid, to move with the technology and and have it augment what we are doing, not distract us. Hence texting is turning into a danger on par with drunk drivers. I enjoy my voice to text features on my phone, but it's still not properly implemented for my tastes.
Personally, I think if we had a HUD with eye tracking, that would work as a monitor and mouse. The goal should be to make a mobile interface that is organic and fast in response as possible. Couple some gloves that are wired to interface the hands as I/O, and establish an industry standard and we might be well on our way to seeing some apps for it.

I am wondering when someone is going to create a solution to this whole problem and cash in on it. Big problems call for solutions. And if you come up with one that everyone can like, you have a winning ticket.
It doesn't have to all go batshit sideways. We can salvage it all and come out smelling like a rose, but we have to throw a couple of assholes under the bus to get there. It's not a big thing because they have it coming.
First thing we have to do is fuck the politicians where it hurts them the most and helps us the most. We do the Flat Tax as an Amendment, lock in the tax code across the board as one fair tax, nobody buys a loophole, end of story. We take in probably twice as much money if not more than we do now, and we thin Washington DC of a big motivator of professional politicians who play millions of dollars to get elected to a job that pays peanuts. We save a fortune in processing costs at the IRS and we can let some of those fine people find other respectable jobs.
Then we take back our economy by patching up all the holes in it from EVERY trade policy that burns us the people and lets Wall Street fat cats' bottom lines get better. It's time to say fuck Wall Street and hello main street. We need policies that puts "boots on the ground" here in America's work force. We need to take a big look at the mess we call regulation and give it teeth where it needs it and cut out all of the retarded redtape that strangles business. We can have our environmental cake and eat it too, we are that smart if we give it a chance.
What burns my ass is all the damage done to us by fat cat millionaires who have been bullshitting us all into letting them fuck off in this broken tax code. They have preached "capitalism is God" for so fucking long, you can't even contrive decent public serving programs and services without being a "communist cocksucker". I hate to break it to everyone, but a pinch of socialism goes a long ways. We sure as hell don't want the whole system that way, pure socialism has some serious issues with "carrot on a stick" for it's people. Sure they have free healthcare, jobs, food, homes and live like hippies, but they aren't overly motivated and miss out on some potential from honest competition and the freedom to succeed or fall on your face. I digress...
We may need to do like the rest of the functioning modern industrial world and socialize our medicine from top to bottom. It would be a great idea to do the same with education. The whole system needs an overhaul. We have wonderful technologies and some inspiring education models, but we working education system is broken down, toyed with by idiot politicians bumbling around. It's too damn important to leave for screw ups. Medicine and Education. We need to fund it, and honor it like we do the military. The military is a social program by the strictest of dictionary definitions. We don't call our Military communists do we? It sure as hell isn't a democracy when you are in it.
We don't prize our knowledge here. We are a bunch of fucking retards, we piss all over academics in favor of sports. Sports, in it's present form have no damn place in academia, period. This is what happens when you entrust something this important to people who are suffer from mission creep and get lead off the path by big money and have no accountability. As intelligent creatures, academia should be a serious social hub for us as we should continue our education throughout our lives. This keeps us mentally active and functioning as a productive member of society. Our technology should be bonding us more, instead it seems to be separating us geographically. I digress again.
Anyway, there is going to be some change. It should be intelligent change with all of our common good in mind as Americans. The high end blood suckers with the deep pockets need to go. It's either us or them. This is the big challenge of leadership, to make the big choices, to have the balls to make a stand and stick to it.
It's bad, and it's going to get even worse and worse. Those that have the money, aren't wanting to pay the bills. and are pushing the bills off on to those who can't pay. They held us hostage so they could keep their tax cuts and loopholes. The real world financial people aren't buying the bullshit that the politicians are shoveling out, so they cut our credit rating.
There are a few industries in this country that is sticking deep to us all. Frankly it's a shame that these are an industry at all considering what they are. I am talking Healthcare and all of its fellow monsters. Let me introduce it's partners in crime; lawyers, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. These 4 are engaged in an orgy of greed that is sucking the life out of all of us instead of preserving and extending it.
Another big one that stands off by itself is Education. This system has taken a corporate greed plunge and its turned into yet another scam to juggle paper and debt and produce basically nothing in return. Why? Because there are no jobs, why are there no jobs? There are plenty of jobs, but they aren't HERE. Why is that you ask? Well it's because we have politicians who's primary jobs are to protect this country, it's economy being part of said country, who are failing on levels that are criminal. They should collectively be arrested for such dereliction of duty. We need our military home NOW, and out of everyone's business and tending our own. We have a silent invasion happening, and we need troops here NOW, to secure the border and round up the hoards of illegal invaders. "American Jobs for Americans", especially when its us or them. Sorry, I pick us.
Why is this not going to happen? Our politicians have sold us out. They have let big corporations ransack the economy by dumping ship loads upon the hundreds of thousands from places whom trade with is like throwing the money away out of the economy. They will NEVER buy a thing from us in return. That is not trade that is a trade exploitation and its our workers who are exploited. If they can't drag it into our country from some far off land where they paid nothing to have it made, someone will make it here, because there will always be need.
Our politicians have quietly over the years, signed the workers of this country job's away. They have signed treaties that bind us by law to let them ransack our economy with unfair trade balances. They don't even negotiate well for us. They are bought and paid for by those whose interest doesn't serve us, but only those making the fortunes. And they still have the balls to hold us hostage and not pay even close to a fair share of the tax burdens.
Get used to the living in cars thing. Whatever you do, don't wax violent, they will crack down with UN Troops on us so fast it will make your head spin. Our Military will not be trusted to protect us and in fact, most will either be too far away in some ass end of the world with no gas money to get home with and left guarding the oil fields for the rich. The ones that might get squirrelly and disobey orders to dispose of us will be rounded up quickly.
This is what happens when you run amuck with a couple of wars that the world thinks you are retarded for being in; then refuse to pay your bill, by leaving the bill to the poor cousins while you try to slip out the back. This really works out well, don't you think? Because the poor cousins have to tough it out by working it off washing dishes, doing sexual favors or just getting arrested, they will forgive you. They are from that nice forgiving neighborhood that you put them in, all nice and friendly and everyone loves to forgive. We need to build the country back to it's greatness, not as a military power, nor as some corporate imperialist pawn, but as a strong vibrant nation with brilliant ideas, the highest of quality of workmanship, topped with our amazing style and innovation. Face it, nobody wants to see us turn into slobs, and that is what the nation has collectively done. It reflects from sea to shining sea.
We need a medical system that is cost effective. We need a safety net system that bounces people back up, not entangle them in a pathetic dependent existence. We need fair trade, because free trade isn't free, it costs us. Why should we allow countries to sell to us, but not us to them? Why should we let other countries undercut our labor and force our people out of jobs? Why should we let unions go overboard with their mission and make it hard for companies to make a profit, and still have issues with a fair wage for all employees? Labor is an issue that should be resolved intelligently for the best interest of both parties, after all the two depend on each other.
Lets stop ignoring science while we are at it. There are some obvious issues the world needs to deal with and we need to lead the way yet again with good ideas first, and not just throw tax payer dollars at it.
First, someone inform these tools that gamers aren't so retarded to not know the difference. We are computer gamers, not console gamers, we aren't playing Pogs, we aren't completely retarded. Secondly, the Minecraft guy is small potatoes, he's the little guy, the underdog, and busting his balls is a great publicity stunt to paint yourself as being a complete dick. I don't like buying games from people who act like dicks. Why? Because being a dick is a habit, and how long does it take for them to be dicks with me if I do business with them.
Besides, how come some game company with a half ounce of brains hasn't snapped this guy up and put him on their dev team?
Now for something completely different; Minecraft PvP to me is awesome. It's as polished as that last turd I dropped off, but the concept/game play of it has potential to be incredibly brutal and nerve wracking. The brutality of it reminds me of Darktide, but only crueler somehow if that is possible. It's not for pussies. It needs the polish of a slick FPS and the rich character development of a RPG, make it MMO, and PVP and you would make orgasmic money. Multiple orgasmic money. You know I am right.
Once upon a time, I owned a game shop, I enjoyed playing V&V myself because it was a break from DMing. We had a super fun cheesy time, bellowing battle cries while we tossed dice to see if we fell flat on our face or landed a deadly blow. We had a GM for V&V nicked named Dizzy, and he put on a great game. Thinking back there are just some things that don't translate well into computer gaming. The social aspect of it being the number one thing that comes to mind. Gone are the late nights, the delivered pizza boxes stacked up, piles of empty soda cans and playing hard until everyone is goofy tired, played out and ready to crawl home and sleep late. We smoked too, a thick haze choked the pastiest of geeks, so we had a fan blowing it out. It was a place to go for so many people. Kids used to tell us that they would much rather be gaming at the shop than out at a party.
I still remember my cheesy character I named "The Black Mask", who wore a black mask...real brilliant, huh? But it I played it up until it would slay the lactose intolerant.
Facebook, I avoid it like the plague. I love to engage in conversation on the Internet, but I have some friends who now refuse to because they fear it will come back to bite them on the ass. I see their point. If you say something one day about how you think "X" sucks a big one, and later down the road in life, you might have some interaction with "X", or those views of "X" will cost you in some way. Personally, I have never been that sensible, I say WTF I think about things and let the chips fall where they may. But with that said, I don't put my dick out there in public so that it can be chopped off, if they want to find out who I am, they will have to dig. Facebook to me is one big intelligence operation where those you want information on offer it up willingly, hence I will not be there giving out one iota of information.
Now I have thought about this anonymity thing many times, especially when gaming and you come across some rude cocksucker who if you knew where they lived, you'd be on their doorstep doing a Jay and Silent Bob on them. Or on the other hand, after you "wtfpowned" the wrong person, they ball bat you in your parking lot, no thank you! More seriously are political opinions. The way politics are shaping up in the US of A, I don't want ANYONE knowing my political affiliations, let alone my foam-at-the-mouth opinions. If those are made public, I would have to knife fight my way to get my mail. Not that I wouldn't might a dirty knife fight with my polar political opposites, but unless the entire country is engaged in one as well, it will be counter productive for me due to the fact I would most likely be dead or in prison.
Anonymity breeds rude people. Duh! This brings up a need for "writing jiujitsu" where you engage them (or not and just ignore them) with more brain horsepower than they are using. Trolls, they are just part of the landscape for the experienced. Flame Wars at most times are ignorant, but sometimes can be down right entertaining, especially if you are just an observer. Leave it to a relative to say or do something that you can't hammer them for or Thanksgiving dinner will be ruined, not to mention Christmas. Considering how the information age could be their undoing, and after the "Arab Spring" where so many of "them" went batshit collectively on cue via this information technology, lets give our own paranoid and corrupt politicians excuses to meddle.
