I love reading stories like this. This fucked in the head system we have that treats people like machines to throw away, would have more stories like this if we collectively grew a set of balls. I keep thinking of the stapler guy in Office Space when I read this story.
Here is a thought for the "omfg you are too old crowd" think of every picture you see of Einstein. He's not some young buck, he's a wild haired old geezer in every famous picture of him. Frankly you need a good mix for a good IT squad. Of course you need the wizkids, but you also need the salty old guys as well. Give them a multi-player game to play when they have down time to help them sort out their teamwork issues. That shouldn't be hard to do, considering you have to pry them out of a game most of the time. Just make sure their gaming is productive as a team.
Anyway, if they got rid of the old Chief, you would think he still has some indians around as well. That might make me nervous if I was the manager, and if I just pulled a dick move, and fired the head of a department and had done is too tactlessly that I ended up part of the collateral damage. That and if I wasn't at least a bit paranoid enough to sweep for crap like keyloggers or anything "off the reservation". That and who doesn't keep a close preview on what slides they are about to present? I know if I am presenting one, I will be tweaking it all the way there and probably some after I am done. Of course I am thinking most of the universe is on their laptop./yawn Get off my lawn!
Ah Sweet Jesus! I forgot they were fucking with EVE. I think I have mentioned that the EVE player base isn't something to fuck with. EVE evolved out of BBS's and Trade Wars, so its player base hails from computer geeks older than dirt. Old computer geeks>nubsauce scriptkiddies The math isn't looking so good for the lulz.
You are listing about 4 or 5 things, each with inherent problems of their own. Perhaps if you scaled an operation to do this assembly line like to an entire crew of them, it might have the desired effect. Or not. The problem is it leaves them breathing to keep doing screwy things or even figure out who did it to them and then its a war of attrition.
Besides, you miss the point, like the Sony hack, that cost Sony millions of dollars I am sure. I don't know about your ideas of forgiveness, but if you do one million dollars damage to some people, they aren't going to just chock it up to "oh those pesky kids". They will be seriously pisT. Not to mention, the cops and the government seems to just say "Deeerp!" and are mired down in red tape, bureaucracy and politics and other things infinitely more important. Doing something like ignoring this, because the American competitor Xbox 360 and Xbox Live will sponge up the lost business. Anyway, I digress.
You take your cyber assassin, he finds the group, plays fanboi and gets in at some level. Moves up through the ranks, partially through his bag of tricks and partially by (a her would be easier and make this story more fun) social hacking. He finds the leader or leaders and does a Dexter on them, taking some video for the employer's satisfaction and for "shock n awe" on the surviving crew and or some serious head games for anyone else wanting to try this. They probably need to do the entire family for full effect. Scorched earth kind of stuff that does Colonel Kurtz Warm & Fuzz Playbook of a Kinder, Gentler PsyOps on them.
*When that hits the news, how many shocked, scared, computer noob parents will run screaming to their kid's room, yanking the computer out of it, cords, keyboard, mouse, printer, modem all in tow on cords behind them all the way out to the curb trash cans? "YOU ARE GROUNDED!!!" "But...but...but..but.....but Daaaaaaaad!"
This is reading like Jay and Silent Bob Lose Their Fucking Minds. On a more serious note, perhaps once we get some IPv6 and everything compliant with Big Brother, they will just end up thinning these loose ends up on the Internet and we can at last enjoy other fucked things in peace. But imagine then, if they try this, get caught, then sued by Sony for millions of dollars of damages. Each of them sharing in the cost of the damages, and of course, parents being forced to pay for what their damn kids did. Then again we can go back to * and get a chuckle without someone unleashing the Kraken.
The old "grow weeds so you can pull them" trick? I would think that trick is about used up, and or the world has enough "weeds" on its own.
The one problem with lulz is that if you play them as a card, someone has to go down. If not, then the ball will get passed to someone who will look into it. The evidence had better be pristine as well or in this technical clime it will get picked apart. So if you find a scape goat, it can't be sloppy, and this group implies there are multiples of them, so you need multiple scape goats.
Now didn't some country make some arrests already concerning one of these groups? I was surprised where they were. I figured they were home grown. Or did some patsy fit the bill? This is why a guy needs to see what bills for appropriations are coming up. Of course this pretense wouldn't take too long hold up, Congress seems to have the attention span of an ADD fruit fly on crack. They hand out the money, the problem goes away, everyone is happy as pigs in slop. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
I don't know, that takes a lot of balls.
Here is more of a fucked up scenario that we could worry about. Did you look at those videos? I didn't want to point out the obvious. But imagine if lets say, another disgruntled ethic group with possibly a jealous bone to pick with us decided to implement those tactics? A big influx of weapons to them, not unlike the one we seen our incompetent/crooked agents unleash in Cartel country, would be a nice starter for them to augment those Flash Robberies, transforming them into Flash Tactics or Flash Terrorism.
From what I glean isn't there some hostile groups in that geographic region that have maps of territories they want to "liberate" back from us? Some old news, but still interesting. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laplaza/2008/04/mexico-reconque.html Checking the date, that is from 2008, of course its stale, but I ponder what has become of this kind of thing.
FileTick: Someone who hoards files for the sake of hoarding files.
In the event of catastrophic disaster, when future archeologists come pick through our fossilized detritus, they will have some curious, and possibly informative relics of our era to mull over. Imagine them finding the treasure trove of a FileTick, the ilk such as these guys.
Anyway, I wouldn't get too excited about the extinction of books. For one, they are very fun to make, eat and possibly even read.
I think its rather futile of a tool to catch a hacker with any talent with that. For the average Joe wanting to torrent something, its going to snap down on your balls like a steel trap. It will be good for tracking the general noob public, but even after a while, noobs will have tools to circumvent it if they want. There is other provisions and improvements that look really sexy. But if they think its going to be the silver bullet they are looking for, they have been smoking some Southern agriculture.
Groups like this coordinating with twitter or even a home brew network, wow! Time to dust off the old 2nd Amendment, no? If that breaks out into some wild craze, they will not only be slamming some IPv6, TPM, and even the kitchen sink into law. That will give rise for the DEMAND for biotech security measures.
Oh shit, you got me with that. That is a real good question, it was a major core dump from what I recall. Palin's email dump reminded me of the scope of data that would need gleaned through. I didn't bother getting a torrent of it, because frankly I didn't want guys on my telephone pole outside my apartment building tapping my Internet. I am paranoid like that. (By the way, my ex-cable company used to do that to my entire apartment building, said the tech who worked the area himself. They like to make sure a bunch of people aren't all sharing one connection. He gave my apartment a precursor look over, counting computers out loud as he went through. We were discussing why the apartment's cable was causing my cable modem to heat up enough to crock-pot chili on.)
I wasn't surprised at anything I heard, but I was surprised at the reaction from our government. For one by reacting that way, its like taking out advertisement for wikileaks. I had heard of them, being a denizen of the Internet, but they weren't really on my radar past, the "meh" setting. Then they start hounding after its founder, then, TADA! A sex scandal happens involving hookers and such that seemed like it read from a Tom Clancy knock off book. My first thoughts are, what kind of dipshit kids are running Ops these days? It wouldn't have been my number one choice of Ops to run on the guy. Hookers, seriously? Why not child porn? You can spin that so easy, plant the evidence so easy and have access to everything. It would now be called WikiCreeps, and they could say anything and be ignored or laughed at...while behind bars.
OR....Did they flush something down the pipe, nothing really serious, but enough to raise a stink over. Wikileaks takes it and with a giant ego runs with it. We end up with a scandal and someone's budget increases dramatically. Mmmm....Tax payer pie. Everyone wants a bigger piece of the pie chart. Follow the money I say.
Oh shit, I am on a roll. The new American slogan: Got War?
Anyway... This is/., by the time I get this typed, someone probably has links up already, if not I will root around for some.
I seriously doubt they will hire groups like this, but I do think they will hire cyber assassins. Follow this thinking. Here you are a multi-million dollar company and you will lose millions from their attacks. Feature like Sony, being attacked for a straight month. Governments appear too slow or retarded to be of assistance.
So enter the cyber assassin, a lone wolf who can hunt them down, probably infiltrate their ranks, counter hack them, find them and assassinate them. Frankly I am shocked it hasn't happened already, a viral video of one of them being snuffed, or something to that effect to send a major chilling effect to the hacker community. They would probably assassinate plenty of script kiddies, just to set the proper example.
I would look for these types to come from Russia, they certainly have the skills to do the tracking, and as far as ruthless, I think they have that covered. They are a hungry lot there in Russia, organized crime is serious business there. I think they have all the ingredients to cook something like this up. But that is just speculation on where they might start from on my behalf.
Factor this, with as ineffective as the world's governments seem to be at dealing with this, how long will it take for these hacker groups to fuck with the wrong people? They don't fuck around with little targets either, it seems the people they fuck with have deep enough pockets to easily finance a project like that. It doesn't help with their "hahaha fuck you" attitude either. Imagine being burned by them and it cost you millions, and there they are, out there mocking you? Welcome to becoming someone life hobby to find you and kill you, you silly hackers.
I am just saying this needs nipped in the bud before it escalates into something horrifying. There world seems to be full of dumb kids that have no idea about consequences for one's actions. These people need protected from their own stupidity. A trip to Gitmo is infinitely more preferable than the Russian mob skinning and salting you in a snuff film for some pissed off CEO's listening and dancing pleasure.
Stack crap like that on top of the entertainment business's interests, rioters who use social networks to organize, wikileaks, flash robbers, etc, etc, and world governments are going clamp the fuck down hard on the Internet as we know it. Hackers will beat their security measures of course, then it will really escalate. Kiss any online privacy goodbye then. Welcome to high tech intrusive measures to monitor us even more.
In the mean time, I wouldn't want to be these hackers. It may sound cool, and get good press, but there is the devil to pay in the end.
I agree. But that still leaves some innocent people twisting in the wind over there. No matter how this plays out, unless they win, they are seriously TOAST. That doesn't settle well with me.
I am curious what this particular puppet has done to draw fire. Did he? Or was this honestly just started as an act of mercy, to stop him from slaughtering people? What got him to start after these people, did he get played into this? Or was he just off the reservation like a nut?
I know I am emotionally held hostage over this issue when it concerns these people that will get killed if this insurgency/revolt fails. Sure the rebels will get killed, but if they don't stop there? I am afraid they will roll in and purge the entire area. They don't seem like the forgiving type.
If I remember correctly this started as a mission of mercy stopping a slaughter of civilians, they had a real short window of opportunity to stop it and he ordered it. Then it snowballed into a fast revolt. If we back out of this, those people will be slaughtered. We will be hated for ditching them to their doom. I am sure it will have a horrible chilling effect on our relationships with others that we try to prop up in the future. We don't have a very good track record, Viet Nam, we pulled out and millions got slaughtered.
Myself, I just hate to jump on the "I hate Obama cuz...I donno..I just hate him." bandwagon. He didn't make a fan of me with signing the "Patriot Act" into extension. Frankly I think him and everyone that had anything to do with that bill are traitors and should be hung on national TV. But that is just silly old me.
At the core of me, something tells me not to trust ANYTHING either party or the news outlets tell me. This thing with Libya has me suspicious as well. Considering how wealthy they are in oil, its not a big stretch of the imagination to make guesses. That isn't enough though, and this "act of mercy" with no end game plan doesn't seem like something we would kick off unless we needed an excuse to be rid of him if you look at it through the conspiracy microscope.
It's either a. a real errand of mercy that has turned into a clusterfuck and something to jab Obama with politically after Bin Laden. or b. there is something afoot here besides what is presented. or lastly c. some combination of both a. and b..
Here's how it will probably play out. Republicans can't wait to put a Libyan pie in Obama's face. They will force this issue to a head really quick, and I think he will have to pull us out. I don't know if NATO is going to keep up and carry the water on this one, I wouldn't bet that they do if we pull out. The end result will be these people slaughtered, and Republicans will get the blame for decades. I am also curious if when pressed about pulling out of Libya, if he doesn't bring ALL of the troops home. It does set a precedence if we are going to leave people to rot, we can then leave them all to rot.
What I am willing to bet is that it's a sure thing corporations and banks are behind a LOT of what is going on in regards to Libya. That rumor about him having a big stock of gold and wanting to start an Arab currency that they would only accept that denomination for oil, if that is true, this all makes sense. That would involve the big players of planet Earth, and from what I glean there are are a couple of factions of them that have been at it for a long time. I am not talking about governments, but the people that puppeteer them, our Fed being one of these elements.
As far as Syria, how much money do they have in contrast to Libya? Personally I think Libya would be easier to plunder. Doesn't Syria have at least one strong neighbor to back them up? Whereas Qaddafi is way over in N. Africa. He's probably another goofy one with lots of cash laying around as well. I would love to know how much of Saddam's cash ended up ripped off. We heard a little about it long ago in the beginning of the war, about truckloads of cash vanishing out of the country, most of it blamed on Saddam. This whole situation in the Middle East is the biggest mercenary's wet dream come true since Rhodesia, if this happened when I was young, I would be foaming at the mouth to get in on this action. Only in the private sector though,/wink.
In closing, follow the money, it will lead you to what is really going on. I just hope innocent people don't get hurt, murdered, blown up, bombed, nuked, etc...etc..etc...
Haha! I love/. for my daily education. Thanks everyone for the Card/Carte lesson.
Look, if he hadn't acted, there would be acres of dead people. But that doesn't mean I give him or any of them a pass. I want to hear more about the Arab currency that Libya was rumored to be trying to get off the ground.
Our Congress? Are you kidding me? Our corporate bought and paid for Congress? Do you know how much money is riding on strife in the Middle East? For one, gas prices would have to drop. We wouldn't need to shovel ship loads of cash to Israel. Not to mention how many corporate interests are protected by the status quo there?
You should be asking this question instead: Why isn't Obama seeking corporate approval? That is where the real power behind this issue is. The only thing that eclipses corporate power here might be the Fed and guess who controls that? It sure as hell isn't the voters or tax payers. Look into it yourself who seats on the Fed and then factor how that plays into our Middle East policies.
Yes, Obama has went rogue. He's went rogue against the statue quo that has us embroiled in this shit. He's went rogue against corporate interests and unnamed other interests in keeping that region from Democracy. You see, Democracy doesn't always equate to Capitalism. We have destroyed a few Democracies in countries that didn't vote the way we wanted them to vote. It depends on whose interests it serves if a "democracy" gets a nod from the powers that be here.
No, you are very right. It's not just Republicans, Democrats have been on the corporate take as well for years, obviously. But this is a move that is frankly very bold for him. Its the right move, and thus making it almost impossible. These forces, corporate and otherwise have too much control over our Congress. He knows if he takes this to our puppet Congress that it will be shot down, even though it will give everyone cognitive dissidence, considering how we preach democracy and freedom.
If you think that the powers that be, and all of their investments in war, and strife in the Middle East are going to let the Arab Spring happen and peace and democracy break out in the Middle East, you my poor friend are sadly mistaken. Trust me, the more you learn about this situation, the more sickening it becomes.
Here's the good old US of A, the supposed proponents of liberty, freedom, etc.
Here is wikileaks, exposer of lies, horrible truths, a bastion for whistle blowers to go to when the powers that be are overwhelming and not in the favor of justice.
Lo and behold, the US of A is exposed by wikileaks. Observe the reaction. Instead of the issues exposed being the scandal, it's the source of how the information surfaced; wikileaks.
Observe the reaction from the US of A. The founder of wikileads is hounded down to the corners of the Earth after being in a "sex scandal". How convenient. The issues exposed aren't looked at, instead they want to kill the messenger and the whistle blower.
This makes me suspect one thing. They have LOTS MORE SECRETS TO HIDE and are TERRIFIED we will find out WTF they are doing.
How this should have played out is this: They should have quietly looked into their security practices. They should have owned up to and dealt publicly with any issue exposed. They could have smiled and said "Truth is a double edged sword", patted wikileaks on the head and went about their business as if they had some class. Secretly, they could keep tabs on wikileaks, as it obviously is proving to be interesting.
This reaction though, from both sides of the isle screams of GUILT. It screams "We have more shit hid and holy cow if you find out about it, you will fucking kill us all, forget elections. We have to nail this shit down fast even if we are exposed in the process."
Let me help you with this. I don't think its the "ideology" that drives them, though this "ideology" certainly is trumpeted. You have to look at motivation and the key term that you used is privatization. Privatization equates to corporate take over. The "ideology" is a smoke screen, its a well crafted piece of propaganda. It plays to sense of greed, hidden in all of us. Its mostly fantasy, much like buying a lottery ticket is.
What one has to do is see through the obfuscation, the red herrings and the propaganda. Easier said than done, but look at the end game. De-fund something, then it becomes up for grabs. This is a great trick if you can find politicians crooked enough and people dumb enough to fall for it. Sadly we have acres of both. And it isn't getting any better.
I find this situation hysterically funny. They gave Bush these powers with Card Blanche, and he put us into two war fronts, one of which he should be prosecuted for. (Iraq) Obama uses it for legitimate purposes and they flip flop like a fish out of water.
What good could come of this? I hope Republicans flip out over this and revoke the "war powers" laws and get rid of them for good. This will be perfect for the next time a hawkish Republican wants to run wild for his war profiteer buddies, we can point back to this and laugh them down.
In the mean time, I hope Obama can hold the course. This a break for the free world and a chance for Democracy to break out in the Middle East. Yes, it means that corporate puppets that are propped up right now will be ousted. The peoples of the region have a chance to be rid of tyranny. Now ironically, look who is being obstructionists about this? Republicans who trump they are protecting us from those that "hate us for our freedoms". Hahaha! Now that the region has a chance at freedom, they want to play politics with it or just beat it down?
I love the priceless double talk out of the Republican corporate lackeys. I am waiting for how this will be the "christian thing to do" to abandon these rebels for freedom. Hide and watch how they spin this around, I would wager money someone will start playing some weird religious angle on this soon as well.
Well, if I could condense it down more, it would be they are the only party that still lets us have our guns. Both parties I feel want our weapons, only one wants them faster than the other.
In spite of the American government building the largest prison industry in the world, they know if they try to disarm us all at once we will kill every last fucking one of them. (And fuck their little dog too!) This traditional Constitutional value of ours has been under attack for at least a century now. The bad news is they are winning. They have the American Public completed bullshitted on the meaning of the 2nd Amendment these days. The 2nd Amendment addresses most of what ails us in our current police state and lemming fuckhead mentality that makes us all have a "victim" mentality. Thus we are easy pickings for the mega corporations and whomever they want governing us.
What the world needs to understand is, we are the last bastions of freedom. We, the average Joe with his fucking secret arsenal, are the last line of defense the world has from these evil fucks from gobbling up the world. The fact that if they fuck over our Constitution and turn into a dictatorship or something equally fucked up, we have the not only the God given right to blow them to fucking hell, but its our moral obligation as well. Our founding fathers knew how corrupt things can get and they wrote these provisions into our Constitution. Any study of what they had to say about it all will prove me right beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Now factor what a bunch of pansy assed pussies Americans have become. They take rape dicks up their ass that their founding fathers would have went raving kill them all in the street bat shit over. First it began with the complete emasculation of the American male. This really stepped up over the past 30 years and we now have "I am a pussy whipped, no balls, beat down, evil white man" syndrome. The American male psyche has had the living shit kicked out of it for decades now until American men are afraid to leave the house with their balls.
When you beat down the fighting manly spirit, you end up with a country of pussies that you can do anything to, and they will just take it. Now all you have to do is disarm them before they grow any balls, or brains and figure out WTF happened. Mark my words, if they get this done, everyone on the planet is fucked. With a flip of a switch they can turn everything on a dime and control us all. Don't think it can or will happen? Study some history and see how often this repeats its self. Of course that is hard to do in one of the shittiest education systems in the industrial world. You have to dig for your facts yourself, and think outside the fucking box they have us all in. Read a book, don't wait for someone to feed you mental pablum.
As why are Republican more evil than Democrats? Republicans are often the pick of the crop of the corporations or what the corporations want as a front. Currently Republicans are the high priests of a combination of nationalism, religion and capitalism all rolled up into one hellish abomination. Democrats are the flip side of this, but still are a dirty coin. Democrats have been traditionally for the working poor, the poor, and works, the blue collar party. They have taken on some weirdo things and fights that have cost them dearly of the the quiet conservative working folks vote. The worst of which are the "gun grabbers". This is the one issue that will swing voters in a way that defies the imagination. The gun issue is probably the deepest single issue that has burned Democrats in the past.
Why are Democrats less evil? I guess when you are the number two corporate pet, you put more of a thorn in their side to get money out of them? Don't think for a nanosecond that when they are in power they don't do evil shit. Clinton did things we will NEVER recover from. The only reason we aren't still screaming about him is the next one was not only an evil fucker too, but a dumb one as well it seems. That is one thing I like about Obama, he hasn't completely floor boarded the gas pedal of the car we are all in into a brick wall like the previous two did. Then again, what the fuck do you do for an encore after Bush and Clinton?
Why on Earth would they want to shut down those silly enough to publish such tools? These are wonderful education tools for those working the industry, fighting to keep hacker punks at bay. This would be like during the cold war if the Soviets published all of their weapons technologies, or the US for that matter. It would be giving the opposition a golden chance on a silver platter to gain quite the advantage.
Surely the intel people are going to advise these ministers STFU.
Republicans are corporate lackeys here. The only reason they have traction is because Democrats house some extreme views that hijack their party and make Republicans look sane in contrast at times. Neither party is to be trusted if truth be told, we just pick the current lessor of the two evils. This you can blame on a public that knows who SpongeBob is, but not who the Secretary of State is.
Most Americans are wage slaves who live paycheck to paycheck, who are beat down by the system so badly, its a wonder they can lift their heads to bleat a complaint, let alone amass resistance to a system crafted to control as many aspects of their life as possible. In the prison capital of the world, the greatest prisons are the ones in the peoples' minds.
I think the very most important thing that any of us can do is to become educated to the ways in which our governments function and elect on the grass roots level. Meaning most of the free world operates as some form of representative government. I believe that we collectively don't pay attention to these civil mechanics, thus allowing "bad people" to influence them or get elected to these positions. Frankly our public knows far more about sports and entertainment than they do their civic duties in keeping our governments truly representative of us.
Violence is not the answer I feel. Violence was done already by our forefathers in order that we can have a system that works peacefully. But if we let that system fall apart, or to "the other guy" we have to change that. We need to use the information age to our advantage, not let it be used against us in the form of disinformation, or memorizing us with trivial bullshit.
What I suggest is we NOT neglect our civic duties. Find out how or where the "grass roots" operates and meets and become a part of it. Educate and influence your family and friends to be part of it as well. If we are pressed, we must form our own political parties, but most effectively would be find one that already has the same values as you do and be a part of the process, let your voice be heard. If we are active, then it makes it that much harder for "them" to succeed. It can be a battle that we can win.
If we do nothing, the situation will NOT correct its self. Mark this moment and share it with others. There is a vigilance that we must always hold against things that are wrong. Again, violence I don't think is the answer. Yes, be angry, but let it fuel your vigilance and your drive for more education and more enlightenment. Present solutions, not more problems. We need cool heads to prevail.
Realize just how much awareness helps the situation as well. This is a story that will never see the light of day of major news outlets. Try to follow it, and discuss it at least with friends. We may not be able to help this kid, but becoming aware of this kind of injustice is the first steps of dealing with it. If one does protest, do so peacefully, please. I know my wording in the above post was angry, and we should be angry, but we are a civilized and intelligent people who's fore-bearers labored and sacrificed for us to have systems of government that we the people can be apart of.
This is a blaring indictment of how corporations run things. This copyright crap is just about corporate strings controlling our government. Where is the rage?
I can remember back in the day when the Internet first started how when it was first used for making money how angry the users were against it. It was suppose to be a landscape of pure thought, ideas to be shared for the edification of us all. Bzzzt. That didn't work out. Now its been raped by corporations, if some kid puts up a website that they think they can squeeze a dime out of they burn him. What is sickening is how our pathetic lapdog piece of shit politicians hand over the keys of power to them. We then have a massive industry of enforcement and punishment. We have so many fucking people in jail now its fucking insane.
Lets dissect all these fucking laws of ours that put people in jail to protect corporate interests. Next we need to consider that our retarded crooked cunt of a Supreme Court has decided in their fucked in the head reasoning that corporations are now "people" and have rights. Holy fucking shit people! How far does a cock have to jam up our asses before we realize how raped we are? How come they aren't paying taxes like a normal person then? Oh, that is right, they buy politicians to give us a tax code that stacks taller than a person.
The one big lesson that we have collectively forgotten like a bunch of retards is this: When it happens to the least of us, it happens to all of us. When we let these fuckers in charge get away with fucking ONE OF US, then ALL of our liberties are in jeopardy. If you don't consider ANY violation of ANYONE'S liberties a violation of your OWN liberty, then you just fuck off and let it happen. They come for you eventually too, and there is nobody left to stand and fight them with you. Besides you don't deserve anyone helping you because you were a cowardly cunt who let it happen to others.
I hope the British people fucking riot over this, but they will not. They are a bunch of lemming pussies too. Who am I to talk? We are proving to be the biggest bunch of retarded pussies in history. I shit you all not, if we don't get a grasp of our government and rip it away from corporations, we will be viewed by future historians as infinitely worse than the fucktards in the era of Germany that let the Nazis rise to power.
Why get so excited over some punk kid getting treated like a high crimes criminal? Sweet Jesus, people, this could be YOU. This could be ME! I don't have the means to fight this kind of shit? Do you? How far will they keep taking control over us? Oh fuck it, what can I expect of the Facebook generation? Stop the fucking planet, I want off.
Do you have any idea who plays EVE? These guys didn't think it through when they considered this target. The EVE player base getting pissed at them is probably one of most dangerous player bases a game has out there. Measure the learning curve of EVE, then contrast it to other MMOs. EVE is global, on one server. They have nationality factions. Military types playing it. People who work IT. LulzSec will be lolToAsT I suspect very soon.
I wouldn't bet all my money on Minecraft, but I can see the creative element incorporated into other genres. Imagine if you blended Minecraft with World of Warcraft? Or combine Minecraft with a FPS and an RTS, where you could build and assign objects/items/creatures etc to do whatever. The old game Battlezone when it came to the PC was a great combo of fps and rts. Combine that with Minecraft-ishness. You then tie all that together with a space sim with the scope of Eve, where you could do ship building and ship boarding combat and you have something pangalacticgarbleblasting.
I think its great for such an application. I have tried Minecraft PvP and it reminded me of the times on Darktide in Asheron's Call, the brutality and complete loss that can come with it. I liked it, it was great. You can't get attached to your stuff, which is hard. Too often players whine about brutal game mechanics, enough they get it nerfed. I would rather the mechanics remain the same and players just get better.
Interesting rant, someone else was complaining about this that I know. But, the play concept proves to be rather awesome, though very limited. Break down the success of Minecraft, it's a FPS/builder, resource management and development, sandbox-ish, with unforgiving but exploitable physics.
My advice, keep that, scrap the rest. Put a team on recoding this out of whatever fucked up code the author started out with. Pay the guy off, give him some royalties and let the big boys have it and run with it. Its obviously something, have you seen the dent it puts into the game world from gamers? When I see people running around at the conventions dressed like Minecraft guys, I know the game is a hit on some level.
It takes deep pockets to finance these things off the ground.
Of course I am thinking most of the universe is on their laptop. /yawn
Get off my lawn!
"YOU ARE GROUNDED!!!" "But...but ...but..but.....but Daaaaaaaad!"
To be frankly honest, I think some biotech integration stuff is over the horizon. I am crazy, right? Feature this but ratchet it up a notch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvP5E3PFD3U&feature=related
Anyway... This is /., by the time I get this typed, someone probably has links up already, if not I will root around for some.
I like to write and have an active imagination? ..lol...sorry.
Only in the private sector though, /wink.
In closing, follow the money, it will lead you to what is really going on. I just hope innocent people don't get hurt, murdered, blown up, bombed, nuked, etc...etc..etc...
Haha! I love /. for my daily education.
Its high time that we did just that.
