You wake your kids up to feed them? Seriously? Whatever ever happened to feeding the kid when it wakes up hungry and demands it? I'm no expert, but waking the kid up to feed it sounds like a bad pattern to get into for the kid.

You're right. You're not an expert. For newborns, making sure they stay nourished is extremely important especially in the first month or so. So if you have a fussy eater or the mom has trouble nursing and wants to be sure the child is getting her milk (better in many ways than any formula out there - especially early on), then yes you might have to wake the baby up every couple of hours.

Unfortunately a lot of failures are published, but sensationalized so that the people doing the research don't appear to have been wasting their time and their sponsors' money. Example:

Researcher: I have reason to believe that Tylenol causes cancer. If this is true, it could have dramatic effects across the planet and could possibly save millions of lives. I only need $150k to research this and believe that the possibility of saving lives drastically outweighs the cost.

Sponsor (University or whatever): If we could prove that, our public image would soar once the world learns what we've done for society. Here's a check.

    [Results are inconclusive]

Embarrassed researcher: After my research, I can not say that Tylenol is safe to take from a cancer standpoint. Many people taking it did indeed develop cancer while on the drug.

Sponsor: Splendid - Let's publish and tell the world that we've done the study and can not say conclusively that Tylenol doesn't cause cancer.

Agree 100%. For the record, I consider NOT talking shit about their mom to them part of being a good dad. It may make me feel better and may even hurt her some, but it hurts my boys too. So, I treat them well (resisting the temptation of spoiling them to bias affection), try to encourage a healthy relationship with their (soon-to-be) step-brother, step-sister, and step mom, and generally take care of my own life.

I don't know what this dude wrote about his ex on FB and it's a complete load of crap that he has to go online and apologize unless it was a plea agreement for slander or something, but moving out of the place where you feel the need to talk shit even when you're taking it in the tooter from the state is the healthiest thing to do for everyone involved.

Do I know you? My ex is the only one that I'd heard of that literally had my dog put to sleep during the divorce. I was out of town on business. And, when I came back, she decided she wanted full custody and said that if I tried to pick up the kids from school on one of my days "on", she'd call the cops and have them go to the school. Completely groundless and she knew that, but it means that the kids and teachers see the person she's been talking shit about confronted by the cops and asked to leave...

I've got them 50/50 now, but it took months and better than $10k in lawyer's fees even though there were no mitigating issues and the law is dead clear (at least in this state).
