Audi doesn't? https://audi.snapon.com/Home.a... (Ok, they outsource their specialty tool business to Snap-On, but that's who sells them to Audi dealers too.)

Look, the reality is that virtually all car manufacturers have a tool sales channel that will sell you the specialty tools you need if you want to work on your own car or set up your own car repair business.

So why should Apple not be forced to do the same?

  5. You can't buy an oil filter wrench from the dealer? I mean, I'm not sure why you would unless you had a car with a particularly interesting oil filter, but yes, you can absolutely buy an oil filter wrench from the dealer. Here's a Mercedes one: https://www.mbpartscenter.com/...

That's right, it's a genuine MB OEM oil filter wrench. You can go to a MB dealer and buy one, they might have to special order it for you. Not all car manufacturers make their own oil filter wrenches, in fact most don't. But the ones that do will cheerfully sell them to you.

Want to buy Ford's tools? You can get them from a dealer, or you can get them from their official site here: https://rotunda.service-soluti... You can buy (ridiculously expensive, but it's there) access to the diagnostic and documentation system here: https://www.motorcraftservice....

Note that it's a business account, not a residential account. I needed v4 statics, still do. IPv6 is less critical for me right now, but it would be nice if it worked.

My 6+ was not running as long as I liked on a charge, so I changed the battery. I'd noticed it was slower after a recent update, I thought it wasn't handling the new software well. With the new battery, it immediately got significantly faster.

I'd been contemplating replacing it, but I always make sure my old devices go to good homes, so the battery replacement made sense even if I still replace the iPhone.

Every time I've tried to talk somebody into taking one lately, they've turned down a free printer. And we're not talking junk, the inkjets go straight to recycling, I don't even bother. Brother MFC-9840s, HP 4000s, that sort of thing I keep, but nobody wants one. I only need 4 or 5 printers myself, just so I don't have to walk to another room to pick up a printout if I feel lazy that day.

Actually, a dryer is a perfect case for a smart appliance. Programmable start times, alerts on my phone when things are dry, alerts if there are any temperature anomalies, alerts if there are any malfunctions, maybe even programmable completion times, the dryer could do an initial dampness, composition, and weight assessment of the load and calculate how long it'll take to finish, and you wake up to freshly dried and warm pants on a cold morning.

I think somebody even released a new album on 8-track at some point in the last few years.

The fix is simple, year-round DST. If the schoolkids standing at the bus stop in the dark is a problem, then you're starting school too early anyway. Stop doing that. If the farmer is milking cows according to the clock, the farmer is doing it wrong. The only sane thing to do is make next spring's changeover the last one ever, abandon "standard" time permanently.

If anything, the changeover always went the wrong way anyway. Fall forward and spring back would make much more sense to me, I'd rather not have it dark when I finish working. So yeah, if we're going to do a changeover, it should be DST in the summer and DDST in the winter.

But yeah, let's just dump it. DST year round.
