>Don't they have some deal with M$ preventing them from selling laptops with non-MS OSes installed? MS can't enforce that condition because they monopolize the OS market.
"The most obvious application is the vision of keeping, for example, Windows completely stored in a DIMM." - is that it? Is that one sentence the reason for the headline?
It's traceable, but it's not easy to trace. I remember there was a paper on the traceabilty of bitcoin transactions. Google it if you're interested.
P.S. If you were to scam ppl using bitcoin, right now you can probably get away with it, because complaining to the authorities won't help you in any way.
Rather than cloning that pile of garbage it'd be better to throw your resources into working on a more elegantly designed OS. What with the html5 and web-apps supposedly being the future.
And what difference would that make to the people of that country? None, right? So what's better: having absolutely no access to blogger blogs in your country or having access to some of the blogs using that platform?
..in essence, is that if you have a windows-powered arm device, such as a phone, a tablet or a smartbook, you won't be able to dual-boot linux on it. And that was possible to do before?
Forgive me for not reading your other post, but if the argument in it is that facebook did opensource their php-to-c compiler, then i know about it. The point was why would a company that provides a certain service open source the platform they provide their service on, if what really matters to others are the APIs rather than the platform itself. The only people that would benefit from the platform being open sourced are the competitors. No sane businessman would want to feed his competitors at the cost of his profits.
But that's not the problem of the OS, it's a problem of the RISC platforms, since the OS was identical on x86 as well as on RISC platforms, if the apps were mostly made for x86 it shows that RISC wasn't as superior as the OP claims.
I don't think you can put ddosing scientology, paypal or visa on the same scale as taking down child porn websites. If one was to compare real-life situations, it would be something akin to violent protests against government actions vs citizen's arrests of suspects.
No point in ranting about this anymore though, since Jobs is dead now. I'm surprised though: so many people think their ideas should only be theirs and yet nobody seems to be lobbying for idea patents. I'm sure corporations could really stiffle innovation if they lobbied for a more relaxed patent system that allows one to patent an idea without implementing it.
The viewpoint is a part of gameplay. BTW, in this particular game the viewpoint isn't the only thing that's different from modern first person rpgs. Watch a video of the gameplay on youtube for example. It has a distinct feel of dungeon crawlers of the past while still being visually appealing to the audiences of today.

Familiarity with the toolset could be one of the reasons.
There are less Windowses out there than there are Linuxes. I would think that's one thing that makes it "inherently good".
"it scales" refers to the specification, not the bandwidth.

What's windows got to do with it?

Soon the murder weapon will be rather tricky to find...

Fox News delivering idiocy to your doorstep (couch) still surprises people? And here I thought amercans watch it instead of comedy central...
Spam ahoy!

What's the point of opensourcing Facebook? It's the userbase that matters to web-developers, not the server code.

The GP isn't talking about the NT line though (even though we're talking about the NT line here). In other words it's a reading comprehension problem.
To be precise, December 21, 2012 will be the day of Desktop Linux.
Using some flashy words there, I see...
That's not what they say on TV. And everybody knows: you can trust what they say on TV!

I for one welcome our new RIAA overlords.
