it sounds like everyone is starting from scratch every time a project like this is built. regardless of success or fail, wouldn't it be best for everyone to release the engineering and software so that the next one is an improvement over what went before. it also might reduce the reduce the life cycle of the next project.
the problem is that the theaters don't make money on the ticket sales. that all goes to the mpaa studios. the theaters only make money on concessions.
what they need to do is the offer a handful of theaters per location that allow it and charge extra. they could block the cell towers and offer wifi, but why bother.
I agree, it's hard to read in short spans. about the time I get back into the events of the story I have to stop. the alternative is that I never finish my books.
When I'm somewhere waiting and have 10+ minutes to spare I pull out my phone and start reading one of my e-books. I'm currently reading the Expanse series. I constantly get looks and a few comments from people about me being addicted to my phone. I explain that not at all. I'd prefer my paperback copy, but I didn't bring it. the phone is just my backup.
This type of system dates back to the 70s. it inspired countless engineers, but has a long history of accidents. the time aloft is so short that there isn't room for the slightest hesitation before you run out of fuel and become a falling brick. it was ok for Hollywood where you filmed a series of 10 second sets and spliced them together, but it was never practical for any other use.
Companies with newer designs have increased the time aloft and in doing so the safety.
no where does it say 1000 randomly selected people. the countries do appear to be random, though stopping at 24 was odd. I guess it gave them what they needed.
in the free software community they don't tolerate it. if a given distribution or OS decides to go in a direction that the users disagree with, the users are free to switch to another. this is why having 20 to 30 distributions isn't a bad thing. there will always be a hand full that sit at the top of the food chain with the strongest user base. if one of these fucks up and really pisses on it's users, those same users will start looking for alternatives. because distributions can be based off of other distributions like Redhat or Debian the distribution developers don't have to start from scratch. and the users don't have to relearn an entire OS.
Yes, it's still a lot of work, but no one is starting from zero and the world moves on.
I'd be happy with more bicycle friendly trains. not all trains have a place to keep a bike. and yes, Buses are too damm slow. I can get where I need to faster on my bike.

not really.
no.
I have to ask, what are you running hourly with cron that chokes your bandwidth to almost zero and then reboots your computer?
That was Awesome

that sucks. is there any way that they could have donated the needed equipment instead?

was this before or after all the competition was driven out?

Martin Aircraft even uses a ballistic recovery parachute for added safety.

people need to apply a little darwinism and start supporting the companies with the safer systems.
or we could wait till after Aprilfools day and see if it's real.
it's that time of year.
believe nothing.
So they put the win10 equivalent of linux on windows 10?

no one tell them.
It isn't that they don't work.
it's that they aren't as mature as other industries.
They'll get there. it just takes time.
I'm sure they got what they paid for.

Engineers find solutions to problems.
Marketing tells consumers that they just didn't know they needed it(insert new thinner/faster product here).

Okay, to be honest, it's my job shop that supplies the cookies, but they are REALLY good.
So they can put someone in prison as long as they don't press charges?
