Exactly. They can push the legislation through, and enforce it within the UK, but if a defendant is prepared to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights and the disconnection is found to be unlawful, it will severely affect the extent to which the law can be applied within the UK.
ECHR precident is binding upon all lower courts within the EU. IAALS.

Yes, it certainly seems so. I don't expect it to make much difference, though, as you'd need to take the case to the ECHR to get a disconnection overturned. Who can be bothered with that?
My greatest issue with this scheme isn't the invasion of privacy. It's that the people who recommend it aren't nearly as intelligent as the parent comment poster.
I don't even think this is an invasion of my privacy. I do, however, realise that it's a money soak, a sham, another prop in the security theatre.
Sometimes I wish I didn't realise it. Then I wouldn't feel so ashamed to be part of this nation.
I just looked them up. I dislike Manga, especially the Final Fantasy series.
The first turn-based combat game I played was "Swords and Serpents" on the NES. I didn't really like it then, and I don't like them now. I guess that's how I've never heard of them, and why I can still comment on a game article.
My point was that "groupthink" is pissed off because they can't get the tracker for XXXXXX copyrighted content from Mininova anymore. They're not whinging about freedom being curtailed, or their rights being oppressed, defending Mininova as "only linking, not hosting." One guy above talks about downloading Lost.
Where's your altruism now? Don't kid yourself, bub. We all know that BitTorrent can be used for legal purposes (WoW patching, iPlayer / 4oD content etc), but that most of it is for illegal file sharing. Argueing technicalities only gets you so far.
FWIW, I agree that Mininova shouldn't be made to filter their content, but how do you expect the **AA to listen when so many of the for-Net -Neutrality crowd are openly stating that they won't use Mininova because they don't give access to unlicensed media any more?
I would guestimate that 3/4 of the OP comments which don't agree with this course of action are people who are actively using Mininova to search for copyrighted material, against the terms of the applicable license. Apparently BitTorrent is predominantly used for copyright infringement.
Well done for proving the RIAA / MPAA right, boys. You're a true help to the cause.
A very good point. We all know that Microsoft will butcher any boot sector customisations (use GRUB before installing Windows? NOT ANY MORE RRRWAAAAAAWWWWWWRRRRR *devoured*), so persistence of boot sector infection is not going to be an issue. Essentially, they'd be left with a hidden partition with inert viral code.
Until they visited the same sites again, or installed the same pseudo-AV software...

When Linux works with the hardware Windows does *out of the box* without having to edit text files, then it's ready for the desktop. Until then, it's just a time soak for the average user.
Bearing in mind that the average user spends 60 seconds looking at any one website, what makes you think they'll spend any longer looknig up the appropriate grep switches to find out which firmware they need for their wireless network card before switching back to Windows?
They're saying "Don't use it unless you know what you're doing, we're still bug-fixing. No more new features, but there might be some security holes. Pro's only, please."
Every time you think about Natalie Portman, God kills a terr'rist.
Please, think of Natalie Portman.
It works now, haven't you noticed?
Since September 12, 2001, exactly zero passenger aircraft have flown into the World Trade Centre! That has to show that the system works!

That first one has already been and gone. You could be hiding pirated films up there!

Sorry, didn't know there was a difference.
Japanese cartoon-style, Dragonball Z-like, Super-kapow!-mega-punch-combo! turn-based combat games don't interest me.
Sorry for lumping the two together.

Now that I have heard of them, and know how they behave towards community projects, I'll avoid them at all costs.
I can make do without their game. Can they make do without my money?
Woosh.

Trent Reznor is God.
He'd disagree.

No, becasue that is based upon personal opinion. Someone may want a high zoom, some a better CCD, some multi-point auto-focusing.
It will, however, give you an answer to "How many more people died in World War 1 than World War 2?" as that is based on fact.
N.B. I don't care how many died in either war; It's an example of a question with a definite answer.

Should have picked Heroin, bub. Weed isn't physically addictive, and only very dubious research results have shown mental addiction.

It sounds like you don't like the idea. It's good that you're not forced to take them up on it.
Unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful.
I tried looking up why you said that, and came up with this. All well and good.
I then had to read this and this and this and and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this to explain why people think it's a different type of curve.
I now couldn't give a hoot if it's a sphere, a parabaloid, or atop a giant turtle right now.In fact, the turtle makes more sense.
I wonder if A'Tuin eats grass or astroturf. (Shameless FotC link).
