The good news is that you don't need to fill your car up with entertainment to get to work.

From what I've heard, Microsoft has poured countless man-months into throw-proof chair research. The largest portion of the money goes to keep Bobby Knight in the research lab as a product tester.

  3. What? on The Case For Supporting and Using Mono · · Score: 0, Troll

"The more Mono evolves, the less likely Microsoft is to use patent claims or some other dirty trick to bring down the platform."

Isn't that the opposite of what Microsoft does?

  5. I have an idea on Report Claims 95% of Music Downloads Are Illegal · · Score: 2

Why don't we use BitTorrent to our advantage and do some creative sharing? I propose a system of sharing free(as in freely licensed, like creative commons) songs where once a person has seeded the song to a certain ratio, it is deleted and it is automatically downloaded again. With enough people helping, I'm sure we could have some fantastic fake statistics a year from now.

  6. Let's look at the first Gears launch... on Vital Parts of Games As DLC? · · Score: 1

If I remember correctly, you didn't need to go out and buy the game. In fact, if you didn't buy it at launch, there was little reason to pick it up. Most likely one of your friends had finished it that first evening. It wasn't that they were so into the game, it was just way too short. Why the hell would I buy the game for 50 to 60 bucks when I could just borrow it for a few hours for free. I generally don't sell my games, but I also don't buy games that are going to last me only a few hours with no replay value. Sure, Portal takes a few hours at most to beat, but those few hours were some of the best I've ever had. It was such a fun time, I don't mind experiencing it again.

If they try to pull this unlock code shit, I doubt I will buy anything from them again. It is getting kind of sad because I am quickly running out of game studios that actually make games I enjoy. I don't care how many realistic shades of brown were used. Marketing, hype, and graphics don't make a good game. Sure, they may make a game that sells a lot of copies at launch, but not a good game. Good games require a little bit more effort than that.

I want a GAME that I can ENJOY. You know, with gameplay. That stuff that makes games games and not interactive movies.

Unfortunately, he is not trolling. I've heard the very same thing before. I definitely have seen that opinion expressed by creationists, although it is hardly the majority. I've also heard that fossils are a device of the devil. Fortunately, these ideas were only from a select few.

  8. superman could help on US DoD Poll On Leap Seconds · · Score: 2, Funny

Why don't we just get Superman to fly around the Earth really fast to slightly change its rotation. If he can reverse time, surely he could adjust it sightly so that everything would work out.

If you look at the color data in the transparent areas, you will see that data is stored in the RGB channels too. I think the entire image is used, where an odd value == 1 and an even value == 0. I've tried compiling the information in various ways, but so far I don't have anything. I'm guessing that the name/comments are included in the data, but I haven't seen it yet.

  20. Re:Blender on Open Source On the Big Screen · · Score: 1

If you have ideas for a better UI, the Blender community is very open and will listen to what you have to say. Now, on the other hand, if you don't have any ideas on how to improve it, why blame the developers? The UI was designed by artists because Blender is used by artists. Believe it or not, that makes it very efficient for the artists to use. Yes, there is a learning curve since it does not look like every other 3D app, but that does not mean that it is lacking in quality.
