That way it can remain the "Big 5" (or however many)... and those Big 5 can go against new and/or smaller VirusScanners...

Not that I agree with TwITter having multiple accounts, but 'it' does make valid comments fairly often. It may simply for the purpose of modding up his trolled accounts, or maybe just genuine comments, doesnt matter "why" it just matters what was said.

Mod down his trolls, and mod up his interesting/insightful/funny comments as you see fit, as you would anyone else.

Treating it differently just creates scepticism, more problems for the modding system. If everyone was wondering if the person had other accounts, and therefore was hesitant to moderate properly, or down-mods for the sake of spite, the system fails.

It wouldnt apply to on duty doctors. If they are not on duty/call (".") then they shouldn't have to have a phone with them at all times, its a choice, just like anyone else.

They just have a responsability if someone falls ill in the theatre or some sort of arbitrary distance from it.

But yes, I agree. Although, I think I would agree more if there was a built in function that once someone entered an area where phones can become annoying, it automatically switches it to vibrate, or even just turns it down to 25% volume or something. However conversations should not be allowed without leaving said area. Most phones now have texting abilities, and also display the caller number/name so you know if it needs to be answered or not.

How long before there is some sort of "Drop Your Cell Phones Off Here" at the entrance to major stores and malls... kinda like how there used to be (and in some places still is) ones for weapons.

Although, obviously the stores themselves wouldnt do this, but once this gets more publicity, or more adoption from other stores, there might be some sort of Anti-Tracking organization that will do it...

    "This Store Doesn't Track You"

I don't own a cell phone, and probably never will (by choice), but as anti-tracking as I am, this is the least of my worries, infact if it was "open" it could really be benificial in some cases...

"Excuse me, I left something somewhere in this mall, my Cell Phone ID# is 8675309, could you give me a map of where I was today?"

"I can't find my kid, but she has a cell phone, its ID# is 1337K1D, where are they?"

Yeah im aware of that, but I would consider that, on some level, obscuring the light...

From the wiki you suggested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:BlackHole_Lensing_2.gif

Granted, the effect is magnified by billions of times with a blackhole, the source is still being obscured slightly as it passes various objects, even if those objects only effect the light via gravitation and not direct refraction, nothing we see is exactly what it (theoretically) looks like given that there isnt a pure vacuumous void absent of everything including the light itself...lol

Its all distorted to some degree, which, I would also consider obscured.

  18. Re:So there's more dust than previously thought... on Galaxies Twice As Bright As Previously Thought · · Score: 1

Yes, as far as I am aware, "obscure" means to make less than whole, make unclear, or even make rare, etc.

So diffusion, by means of gravitational pull is a form (or an act?) of obscuring the object by diffusing the light emitting/reflecting from the object.

It does not matter how fractionally small this diffusion is, the point is... it is diffusing the light.

And I really dont understand how you made the greater distance seem less important, like the flashlight gets effected more in its span of 10 feet than trillions of miles or whatever in a light year...

If the ray of light is bent/redirected, even if its basically infinitely small, means it could be thousands of miles of course by the time it gets here... its not like light travels in famillies, and there are parent photons making the child photons come back on course...

I think its mostly a perceptual thing, you probably prefer, and have gotten used to how your Windows or Mac boots up, and therefore any difference to that seems like it takes longer...

If you have 2 computers, one has a single boot screen... takes 30 seconds to boot... fine...

The second, has 3 boot screens, and the cursor is visible while booting, yet still only takes 30 seconds... it "feels" like it takes longer, because more things have happened, and becuase the cursor is visible, you mentally start thinking "I can do stuff"...but you cant...

Same with the cursor, its generally a perceptual thing... if the cursor stays 'Normal' but you cant do anything yet, it seems quicker than if the cursor changes to 'Wait' and you cant do anything...

Some distro's have figured this out... some havent... even Microsoft, improved some aspects of it with Vista, but also made some worse... and frankly, I dont care about Mac at all...
