I don't understand how that works. There are a lot of blinks on the map, and very little coord-like data returned from the server in JSON format (and almost no other data besides that).
I've watched this creationist video few years ago and they said M-U experiment had a flaw. Something about right and left-hand orientation of the amino acids. A quick google search turned up this: http://www.windmillministries.org/frames/CH5-2A.htm What's up with that?
I would like to respond to the second part of your "Informative" comment: 1) We have plenty of our own sin Jesus' had to die for. 2) The most prominent advocate of the concept of original sin which is accepted by Catholics is st. Augustine, the man who wrote about Genesis not being a scientific authority (while still being of literal spiritual importance).
Despite what http://oodt.apache.org/ says, this is not NASA's first "Open Source" project, as Worldwind is older (2007). However, OODT may well be NASA's first Free Software project because Worldwind was released under a non-free license, whereas this is Apache 2 license. Yes, you read correctly. NASA has its own NOSA license (NASA Open Source Agreement - yuck), which is not a free software license by the standards of FSF, but is non the less approved by OSI (which makes it officially "Open Source"). Look it up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_Open_Source_Agreement
I agree. All videos of murder and violence and such should also be hindered from children. Just like ratings for movies are meant to do that.
Pornography gives children a false idea about sexuality. And no, I still am not your Google boy, you do your own research (where would I be if I needed to provide proof of all generally accepted facts?). But I don't understand how you can fail to see how exposing children to porn at a young age might have similar effects to sexual molestation.
"no child I've known has not been able to differentiate between fiction and reality" You've known no child. Maybe you've *seen* one, but you've understood none.
Given that I have argued pro-porn blocking (a tricky stance to take to begin with), I should refine what I mean: I don't mean that third parties (middlemen, ISP's) should preemptively block pornographic websites. This approach is indeed a slippery slope one, as a deservedly modded up poster said.
Instead of this, what should happen is a standard defined to identify people's age (since children are[n't] naive enough to not "enter if you're 18+"). If adult content does appear on a (part of a) website which is accessible to children, then the owner should be fined, and only if they do not comply and refuse to remove such content from being accessible to children, or if they repeat such behavior, THEN such a site should be confiscated, or (as proposed here) put into the "adult" section. These things should be very well thought out, lest we see abuse of power. This burdens content creators (self censorship), and illegal behavior should be reported like any other illegal activity, by whoever, to the authorities. ISP's should need not have any more to do with it than blocking sites that the authorities says to block.
And to those "think of the children" scorners: If you're incompetent to think of anything, don't claim it's unnecessary to think. Porn should not be shown to kids.
I don't understand since when is it obligatory to trash on Stallman every time he's mentioned? If we take a broad definition of system software (where system utilities are included), it is, in fact GNU/Linux. Even the narrow definition does not make it invalid, but it does make a lesser point (standard C library, one of crucial parts of the OS is GNU, and perhaps some would say GRUB fits here too). In any case, if you want to trash Stallman do it on its own time, and for a good reason. For example his ethical views that do not concern software: Abortion, sterilization, etc.
SaaS, on the other hand is a threat. And not a small one. ChromeOS' point is to be a cloud client. Where the cloud is proprietary software.
Also, I think it's a useless OS, but that's another issue.
Exactly. In short: no, yes(?) and no. It was just overblown headlines. It's not me who's waiting for a big discovery, it's just them who are pushing small ones as such.
Let's instead talk about Mars: How does one *know* (because "know" is what one needs to justify the headlines) that there is water on Mars? Guessing ftl.
I can't help but think that many of astronomic "discoveries" these days is hokum. It's either that or the overblown headlines.
Tell me straight: 1) Is ANY EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE found? (the simplest of bacteria/viruses are ok, proteins that make life forms aren't) 2) Is there any evidence of WATER ANYWHERE else but here? (answers "there could be ice" & "look at the Mars' ridges" are not acceptable, sorry) 3) Is there a planet LIKE EARTH of whose existence we are certain? (anything goes here really)
No one forced him to get those tattoos and he's not looking to have them permanently removed. So I'd say they are part of him, part of his persona and should be shown to the jury.
Stop. Think. Remember:
jail tattoos
Yes. Which means... put lightly... extreme peer pressure. And where is his current residence? Yes that's right: He can't remove them without risking his life.
Try doing what I have thought you up there before you make such a predictable/. comment next times, k?
I bet you that at the end, you'll be more scared than I. Also I'd like to find out your "genius range" IQ to compare to my own (top X%). I don't have a univ. degree yet, but am moving towards it. Openly, --Man of Faith

Geez. In comparison to the "third world", it's as we to are living a few millenia in the future. I can't allow myself to feel as if we've advanced until there are people die of starvation here.
Sounds great! Youtube gets money to run its servers (you don't need to pay for content), advertisers get information on how to make ads that are actually entertaining, and you still get to opt-out. Marketing isn't the problem here as it is at the core of capitalism, it's unavoidable and without it, the market would be monolithic as only monopolist brands would be used. The problem is intrusive marketing. And if they can make enjoyable ads, I'm all for it.
They will be scarred for life if they see some things. And you can think of several "some things" off the top of your head. So basically, stop whoring for points. The web runs rampant, and if it's illegal for me to download proprietary software, it should be illegal to show porn to kids (actually, it is). Just because we don't have secure tech to identify whether someone is a minor or not, doesn't mean we shouldn't have it. Talking about fanatical defending of old ideas...
If I were a judge here, and were talked out of reading a FOTC letter, I'd just be more interested in reading it. Weather forecast for the upcoming years: Increase of music in the troposphere.
They did MAKE the license, you know? *shakes head at the troll*

I've watched that creationist video too. :-P
If you found out that the experiment is valid, let me know.
I can't buy this, I'm saving for Starter Shockwave 11 in FORTRAN

You've known no child. Maybe you've *seen* one, but you've understood none.
I refuse to offer any explanation other than "it scars children". If you want studies, you go find them yourself. To me, it's self-explanatory.
A word of advice though: I wouldn't ask that question in public.

Lame way to try to discredit a valid point.

logic compensation(s) caused those issues, not computers themselves.
Obvious shlashdotter is obvious.
Thanks for the info. I don't see an author there tho.

This, however is awesome.
It's not for realtime moving objects, but does its job perfectly.
Interesting.
Not for Ash-Fox I guess. His definition of fun is getting mockery mod points. His modders agree.
They expect to try it out on human embryos and oocytes soon
Would you kindly go fuck yourselves?
