I'd let Google collect all the marketable data they wanted on me if they provided free high speed internet access and they make sure that there are no shady tactics like throttling.
Well, I just think you need to give credit to the progenitor of our current economy. We can't afford a new economy so Obama got old George's used, beat up hand me down economy.
Not at Apple. The goal is to focus on a few features and do them really, really well. Maximizing profit is just a byproduct of that, not a means.
HAH! AAAAAHAHAHAHAH!!! Funniest thing I ever heard. Apple is just interested in making cool products man. The fact that they get paid to do it is just a bonus. heck they would do it for free if they could. Thanks for this joke, made my day.
There are two very good reasons to have two monitors when coding. They are both related with the ability to browse the internet. The first is to have the ability to do search for fixes to various issues that you will run into during the day. Being forced to switch back and forth between windows on a single monitor can become frustrating and inhibit productivity. The second reason is to have the ability to take small mental breaks throughout the day. The ability to take a 3-5 minute break to relax the mind is probably one of the most underestimated productivity issues in a work environment. This issue has been known in the VFX industry for a while and they encourage these small breaks. It is almost the opposite for any other business office, where internet browsing is looked upon as anti-productive.
Doesn't Apple keep lobbing lawsuits at other tablet manufacturers? Seems like everyday I read an article about Apple suing someone for supposed patent infringement. Maybe they see the writing on the wall and are just trying to stall other tablets from getting onto the market for as long as possible.
I mean, we have to accept at some point that we are all in a public place. I for one don't want to have to live life online like a fugitive. Constantly changing my identity and browsing habits just to throw off marketers. And if you are smart you can easily avoid scammers by being more vigilant with your important information.
You're right, we can't have that. That is the reason breeder reactors are eschewed. The small amount of waste they do produce is far far more dangerous and hard to handle than your generic reactor waste.
You only got the point half right. What is happening is that many people are not buying EA's single player games that only have 20 hours of game play because their games are generally crap. EA is not willing to put the money into making worth while 20 hour game much less a good 50-60 hour single player game (it hurts their profit margin). They have realized that it is cheaper just to add a multi-player and try to pass it off as extra playing time. But really, who the hell buys a game based on the amount of playing time. I would rather spend 60 bucks on a 20 hour master piece than a 60 hour turd.
What you are speaking of is absolute Free Market Capitalism, which doesn't exit in this country and for good reason. The government, on behalf of the people, set up rules which regulate business that protect the people from irresponsible business practice and promotes a fair trading environment. Certain sectors of our economy require more regulations than others due to their importance to daily life. The internet falls into this category and it should be protected from greedy corporations so that we can all have equal access to it. I for one don't want the rich to have special access to the internet that can't get due to my small pay check.
See, the problem is that 3D is purely a money making gimmick. Do you think Lucas and Cameron spent all those years pushing it and developing for it just for artistic integrity? F no! They both knew that it was a good money making machine that will puts peoples butts back into the empty theater seats. So I can give two shits whether you actually like it. You are in a very small minority. Most of the people who actually go see 3D movies are the mindless idiots who go see Michael Bay movies. You want technological innovation? Well then make digital film cameras capable of the richness that analog film gives you at half the price. Or figure out how to make non-creepy digital characters. All I see is the big tech companies trying to cash in and making all TV's 3D and charging more for them. Next thing you know you won't be able to buy a non-3D TV. Just like how it's getting harder and harder to buy a 1920x1200 resolution monitor because display makers are trying to cash in on the 1080p craze.
When your counting range is limited to your fingers and toes, comedic subtlety tends to be a little out of reach. But don't worry, you'll always have Tosh.0.
The monochrome buttons are a stupid idea and a classic case of fixing something that wasn't broken. And developers do use the colors as a quick reference, which is far better than trying to look at very hard to see letters on those buttons.
Most new technologies end up in the hands of the rich first, mainly because of the costs of production. Over time, if the technology ends up proving itself and becomes cheaper to produce, it starts to permeate itself into the rest of the market, it's just simple economics. Just look at the PC, most families couldn't afford one until well into the late 90's.
I see you made my point for me.....bravo. Well no shit all leisure time is wasted, that's my point. I am tired of gamers trying to justify gaming as some form of productive tool for society. That doesn't mean I don't like games. But I understand what the hell they are.
I'd let Google collect all the marketable data they wanted on me if they provided free high speed internet access and they make sure that there are no shady tactics like throttling.
No one seems to be mentioning the loss of picture quality with this move towards streaming.
Well, I just think you need to give credit to the progenitor of our current economy. We can't afford a new economy so Obama got old George's used, beat up hand me down economy.
I don't mean to be a stickler, but I think you mean the Bush economy. I'm pretty sure that's who you meant.
What happens when you reach your 250GB/month cap from all that streaming? http://kotaku.com/5820450/the-day-comcasts-data-cap-policy-killed-my-internet-for-1-year
Bound to be a setting which allows Facebook to turn on my camera without my knowledge.

I wonder if he misses carpal tunnel too?
Ahh, beat me to it. Exactly, thank you.

Way to be a dick Anonymous Coward.

So says the Anonymous Coward.

...to justify a gamer wasting his life away by accomplishing tasks completely useless to the planet and society.
Crap, an Anonymous Coward is on to our plan. Now we must regroup and start over.
