No matter how you want to look at it, this whole mess is very very irregular and makes no sense at all. It smells of fraud and if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck.......chances are that it's a duck. I also wouldn't put it passed the Republican party in SC to want to insure that DeMint beats down a black Democratic candidate by a very large margin. That would give him plenty of angles to spin this as an anti-Obama victory.
F that. Apple F'd up and now they are trying to save face by harassing this guy and Gizmodo. The fact is that he made an attempt to return the phone but was turned away. It's not his fault that Apples idiot customer service had no clue as to what to do.
Well there is a big difference between individual songs played on the radio as opposed to individual songs bought on iTunes. Yes, the radio plays their songs stand alone, but if I liked the song "Money" and I wanted to hear it again I have to go buy "Dark Side of the Moon" where I will be exposed to all of the songs on the album. Now if they were sold as singles on iTunes, well all I would ever hear was "Money". I would never be exposed to any of the much better songs on the original album.
I only pirate to check the game out. If I like it and it's enjoyable, I will go out and buy the game. I've been burned way too many times on buying a game that complete rubbish. As for the DRM which requires constant internet access, I just avoid those game in general. It feels too much like collusion with the internet providers and it is not a healthy thing. I hope that there is a backlash on this and companies reconsider the policy. I would be more than glad to give up playing games if this practice ever became the norm.
See, you have made the same mistake in the use of "proven" that many people do. A Proof is a mathematical term which can't be applied to non-testable ideas. So since creationism is based on something that is impossible to measure, it cannot be proven. I hesitate to say that Evolution has been proven because I am not familiar with any mathematical studies of the evolutionary process. The theory of evolution however, has been tested and observations have been made that support the theory. So we do know for a fact that the evolutionary process occurs, but it hasn't been "proven" in the mathematical view. And, please if there is anyone more knowledgeable in this please correct me if I am wrong.
And a scientist believing in a creator does not mean that Creationism is valid. It makes sense that most scientists would be religious due to the fact that Christianity is indoctrinated into every facet of American life. Even I have a hard time saying that God doesn't exist because I've been told so long that he/she does exist and I have no way to prove or test that he/she doesn't. So I consider it a non-issue and move on.
My whole point however is that creationism belongs in the realm of theology and not science based strictly on that fact that it cannot be tested.
You do realize that Jar Jar is the most popular Star Wars character with kids right? Us arrogant adults assumed that Lucas was making the prequels for us but he didn't. It was made for kids of this generation and to them Jar Jar was pretty funny. I can't even get my nephew to sit through the original trilogy. All he ever wants to watch of Star Wars is the Phantom Menace.
His point is that there is collusion to keep the price at the same relative point ad infinitum.....which is pretty much true if you look at the history. The simple fact is that you may refuse to buy the 3D TV now for 2000-3000$. But 5 years from now you will be forced to buy a 3D TV for 1500$ when all the TV manufacturers stop making TV without 3D capabilities, instead of selling todays 50" LCD for 500$. But really, it will be todays LCD but with a 500$ 3D feature included.
F that. Pirating is the only way to keep the industry honest. If the industry wasn't so selfish then maybe some of us wouldn't pirate. But they have shown time and time again that they are swilling to screw over players and destroy good game play in order to make a few extra bucks.
This practice may be illegal because it could be seen as fraud. The reason you bought the item was because of possibly false reviews. Also, you should say who the retailer is because this practice is at least highly irresponsible.
It's just photosynth but with an effort applied at hiding the individual photos all while turning it into a game?
Yeah, it's not even 3D. It's all 2D and it uses smoke and mirrors to give the player the illusion of a real life 3D world. I watched some game play video and the player really only has about 120 degrees of movement in the camera. So just to make things clear, this isn't a game with a 3D environment. So lets drop the whole "Creating 3D environments without Polygons". Well I guess you could use Nurbs....if you wanted.
My god, this isn't a move to get rid of all the people who annoy us online.
How do you purport to know this? Telepathy?
Considering I've seen players beg Blizzard to do exactly this on the WoW forums, I'd say it's entirely plausible that this is a move to try to get rid of legitimately disruptive forum posters.
1) I worked in the industry and I know how concerned this publicly traded company is about its image.
2) I have friends who have worked for EA who tell me the same thing.
3) If you would frequent an EA forum for a few weeks you will notice this practice of banning dissidents.
As for WoW, Blizzard so far is a much more morally responsible company than EA.
Geez, people praising EA for this? My god, this isn't a move to get rid of all the people who annoy us online. This is a move to get rid people who speak out against EA online. I've seen and known people who got banned from their forums for complaining about issues in Battlefield 2. EA hates it when they get bashed in their own forums. So what I see here is first they start banning the loudest critics, then they start banning people who question their products, then finally they banning anyone not playing their games like they want.
This is nothing more than another crappy FPS. This is not Fallout. They just stole the branding.
I am incredibly disappointed. They took one of the cleverest CRPGs ever made and turned it into yet another urban combat FPS (of which the market is obviously lacking). Great. Now they have made it impossible for any other real Fallout game to ever be developed.
I totally agree with you. I held out my criticism in hopes that this wouldn't be a Elder Scrolls clone. But the FPS play of the game makes it feel and look like Elder Scrolls. I know the game play mechanics are very different but it looks soooo much like Oblivion. Bethesda could have hit such a homerun if they would have went with the isometric RPG that the original Fallout was. There are no games like that anymore and I think it would have gone over well....and worked on the consoles. But oh well, thats all so much trash now.
An online hub for gamers to meet already exists. It's called "World of Warcraft."
First of all, not all "Gamers" play WoW. And not all WoW players can be considered "Gamers". Besides, WoW has been a horrible influence on Wizards of the Coast. All they see is dollar signs when they look at WoW and so they go and try to make all of their products into WoW clones. Thus they are ruining games that used to be great like D&D.
No, but it definitely be the best thing that could possibly happen to the RIAA.
clap clap clap
Yeah, and the Republicans did such a smart job during their 8 years of majority control. How's the Gulf, the economy and those two wars working out?

Someone sounds like a sore loser.....or maybe just a plain loser.
....the world yawns.

You had faith in humanity?

Wow, the movie wasn't that bad. Get over it already.

Glory in IT? There was glory in IT? ????
...for the area. Anything that keeps the youth down and stamps out fun will fly there.
And don't let the door ya on the arse on your way out.
