Because if population increase is the problem, then third world/non-white countries (higher population growth) are the problem, not the 1st world/white countries (lower population growth). We can't have that!

Webpages in the last five years have turned into absolute shit I find that I can barely surf the web without some type of adblocker installed. And most webpages seem to have the urge to randomly refresh themselves, which causes whatever I was planning on clicking on no longer being in that spot where my mouse/finger is, and I wind up clicking on something else that I didn't intent to. And I can't blame it on just click-baity or news sites, because even the login pages for my finances (banks, credit card, etc.) seem to randomly reload as well, forcing me to start all over typing in my credentials. I think the people that design websites now don't actually ever USE their own website.

The U.S. is not a meritocracy and hasn't been for about 5 generations. Many of the good and important jobs are virtually inherited by the children of people who were brilliant. The son of a senator is a senator. The son of an actor pushes out other better actors who are not the son of an actor.. The sons of judges are lawyers or judges and so on.

Wow, you really believe that? Sure, there are lots of examples of a child following in their parents' careers, and having some built in advantages, but there is absolutely nothing that prevents one from pursing any career path they want. And where do you get the idea that we let poor people starve in this country?

I had nearly the same experience with Sears a few years ago. By the end, there were three people involved, and I actually had to go to their office in the back of the store while they asked someone about my order. I had to pick up my daughter by a certain time, so I finally just left and ordered it online again, but had it shipped to my house. Showed up two days later.

  9. Ahem, that was a self-serving 'poll' setup by Tesla so they could say, 'See, everybody knows that auto-pilot doesn't really MEAN autopilot!". For Gods sake, they even used Musk's stupid comparison to airplane autopilot systems in one of the questions! Yeah, Tesla didn't have any say in preparing those questions! Also, their own numbers don't add up. 99% say that they know that autopilot doesn't really mean fully automatic... but then 7% say that they do think that it is fully automatic?

  10. So, auto pilot won't actually automatically pilot your car for you? Then it probably shouldn't be called auto pilot. But Musk just wants to be cool and be able to say that he has the first auto pilot* car.

*Warning. An 'auto pilot' car won't actually be able to reliably automatically pilot your car. Please leave your hands on the wheel and look forward at all times... just like when you drive the car.

  18. I called them up and argued with them that it clearly wasn't my signature, and the guy apologized and removed the charge. But the fact that no human ever even looked at the receipt before that annoyed the heck out of me.

  19. My favorite is the one time that a cashier said, "Oh, there is no signature on your card". So I signed it right there in front of her, and then she was OK with accepting my card at that point.

  20. It was also used as "proof" if there was a dispute.

Too bad it isn't even useful for that. I had a strange charge show up on my American Express card a few years ago. I sent in a dispute request. I received back a letter saying that the charge was legit due to the vendor providing a signed receipt as proof. In the letter was a copy of the receipt, and not only was it not my signature... IT WASN'T EVEN MY NAME! Nobody had bothered to due the most basic check of what name was signed to the receipt, let alone whether or not it matched my signature. The signature is absolutely worthless and a waste of time at this point. Everything is too automated.
