Why? Why is the UK so bent on tracking this shit all the time. The purpose of government and legislation is to facilitate interactions between people in some manner. I don't see the social service this provides to the welfare of the people? They are already tracking emails and phone calls unconditionally. All internet traffic is going through proxied servers (as evident during wikipedia incident with "child porn" on an album cover). Cameras all over cities. Seriously has anyone stopped to consider if all this technology is even EFFECTIVE (in use)? Furthermore, the fact that this "bypass" is given exclusive to the Minister is a big warning sign. I bet they're too scared to give people the same rights. The biggest risk of all this; ofcourse, is that augmentation of such data over a long period of time can pretty much be construed to incriminate anyone. What a waste of government resources.
I spent about 20 minutes trying to defend Google and how cool it would be to have a browser like extension where a user can specify a sandbox and configure it (like sandboxie), then have developers exploit it to execute in that environment. Alas, it is novel at best.
So if pirate bay loses does that mean I can no longer do my torrenting from google anymore? For example, I wanted to pirate mario kart (its been sold out for almost 3 weeks everywhere in my town), so I went to google and typed "mario kart filetype:torrent" with 346 results at here. Wonder what this means for services like google? I don't see how the logic used to filter.torrent files can be any different than filtering HTML content of "harmful or illegal" information. TPB should really consider creating a legal honeypot by hosting non torrent files and being a "regular" search engine.
They also throw flocks of dead birds and chickens into jet engines during engine testing. Check out this cool video of birds getting cut to shreds by a jet engine in slow motion. Birds slowly chopped by jet engine
Soooo cute ^_^, widdle girl using windows to send pics of widdle fishie Dorothy? Hmmm, her vampire like fangs at 0:26 make me a tiny bit suspicous of MS intentions...I'll stick to tux. At least they have made progress since the Gates/Seinfield ads. If Apple tries to counter this ad, they will just look like a bully. Seems like they are going to Linux route. I know it might not be spartan-warrior manly to admit it, but I'll be the first to say, tux is cute, cute builds positive and friendly image ^_^
You have denied my claim. In response, I present my facts.
1. Windows 7 and Vista SP2 have concurrent release schedules. Source
2. Windows has remained silent about windows 7 features. This is in stark contrast to its usual hype machine.
3. Last time MS had a turn around this fast for an OS was 98 SE.
4. A microsoft employee states it in his blog. He states "so we decided to ship windows 7 code as 6.1" source.
Windows 7 is a marketing attempt to remove the negativity associated with the Vista marketing campaign and name. Instead of rolling out vista with a new service pack, they are rolling out "windows 7". In reality, windows 7 is a bunch of delayed features and vista bug fixes. They HAVE to keep the same versioning system as windows vista becuase of licensing tools already in place and the way the development teams are setup. The vista team is working on the Windows 7 stuff too, as opposed to having a seperate dedicated team (which will come later). So from a business standpoint, the internal resources have no need to be rearranged for a simple marketing change.
After doing research on various cluster filesystems I eventually decided on GFS (as opposed to luyster, which seemed a bit overkill).
How does EXT4 compare to GFS? Can EXT4 even be used in a clustered environment?
RantingKitten did not use the word incorrectly. He just used it in the traditional sense, not how it is understood by most people today. A better choice would have been agnosticism; however, this does not make his choice of language incorrect. Atheism, as an explicit position, can be either the affirmation of the nonexistence of gods or the rejection of theism. It is also defined more broadly as an absence of belief in deities, or nontheism. The term atheism originated as a pejorative epithet applied to any person or belief in conflict with established religion. With the spread of freethought, scientific skepticism, and criticism of religion, the term began to gather a more specific meaning and has been increasingly used as a self-description by atheists. The word atheist eventually became ambigous due to its popular use in the active rejection of god. For this reason, the word agnosticism was used instead to describe atheism as it was understood in the "traditional" sense. For example, if you are agnostic you are also atheist, in the traditional understanding of the word because you do not affirm or deny the existience of god(s). Not affirming it is enough to be understood as atheist (traditionally). However, if you claimed you were atheist (when infact you are agnostic) to Joe Plumber today, he would understand it as the active rejection of god. So agnostic = atheism, but only in an academic way.
Hacking is an obsession and an addiction. It can easily take over your life, especially if you are good at it. Finding your next target is like getting in your next fix. It offers the ultimate escape, diversion and self-esteem. In a sense, it is a power trip.
The kind of rush you expirience when your skills pay off is incredible. For some, it is a rush better than sex and drugs combined. It adds a new dimension to an otherwise mundane and seemingly predictable reality.
Some perspective;)
I will share with you how to do this. First step to abolishing copyright and patent issues is to ignore them. Here's a car analogy. You need to get to work, but your car is broken and it's been broken for the last 10 years becuase its an old peice of shit. Do you use your obviosuly broken car, or do you get another ride?
So ignore the damn laws, and get another ride. Any IP you dont want the shit sued out of, establish an outsourced corporation in a country with sane copyright laws. The system will eat itself until it reaches a breaking point and reform happens. Until then enjoy your piratebay status.
touch computing requires more movement than a traditional mouse. not to mention how annoying using a touch screen all day on a huge monitor would be. from personal expirience, I went from using an all touch screen device (instinct) to the g1 and use the trackball almost exclusivly now. the interview isn't biased ofcourse, its only a touch ui designer giving the answers...
Time for "Internet killed the video star".
Open Source voiting (software and hardware), with code in public domain and some verification systems in place.

Four types of responses. The fourth is the type that analyzes the types of responses. This post being in that category.
Pretty soon we will see fake traffic log generators, awesome.

Hello Agent Lawless. I'm bored and read /. all day. I have no girlfriend, no life, and just sit around and hack shit. You are my new toy.
You forgot flying cars promised by 2000. Still waiting on my jetpack too.

Intelligence (as quantified), does drop pretty fast with time. You are correct, my brightness is fading fast.
Reminds me of that xkcd cartoon...
Man: Aiko, make me a sandwhich.
Aiko: Access denied.
Man: Aiko, sudo make me a sandwhich.
Aiko: Turkey, or ham?
