Surprised no one has suggested it. Most Xp software should work fine on WINE by now. Not all -- but a database or billing program? Those should be fine.
So the CEO opens their mouth and shows a lack of understanding basic economics. You can't discuss demand without discussing price (and in this case data caps).
"Look see. No one interested in our $500/month Gigabit Ethernet that isn't even advertised online! There is no demand!"
Doesn't add up. Why Amazon prime? E-books + Fast delivery of my 100lb box of nails? Nah.
And why essentially build the nook Color again? Something is off about this story.
Seriously. Does anyone know? I was really surprised that much of the work the plant workers (police, firemen, and military) were doing was not replaced by robots after a few days -- while there were technical jobs that surely called for specialized workers onsite, holding a hose to spray water or flying over the site, seem like tasks where humans need not have been exposed and robots/drones could help. Also any stories of robots being deployed for search and rescue?
I have an epic. Your post is bunk. I get 24 hours battery life regular. No gps issues, no random turning off. Wifi battery life is better than 3g, if on 3g i only get about 18-20 hours battery life.
Every review says the galaxy S gps issue did not apply to the epic.
Great phone, though I don't believe that 24 hours is acceptable battery life. I could probably get more if I turned of a lot of the bg syncing, but then what's the point?
Casual encoutners wasn't nearly as overrun (so I hear) before the adult services section came about, because in adult services you had to pay to post. Spammers, most just moved to the free portions.
Whats not being said is how stupid this is! For adult services you had an audit trail -- a credit card -- that could be tracked to each post. Now kill that and you mvoe them to the non paid sites where you lose that bit of identification.
Perhaps this book might be useful for a high school tech club/class. I mean there already are many $200 linux computers: netbooks. I would have liked the book in HS, it would have saved me countless hours of windows reinstallation, and cursing at BSODs. (I'm now a stress free Ubuntu and Mac User).
Everyone else, the transition to Ubuntu isn't that hard, but is a learning curve. Why would one want to add building a machine to the mix? Besides by the time the ink is dry I'm sure the hardware suggestions will be out of date.
Pirates -- when you get sick of grandma being accused of stealing windows, and she won't eat tuna for 2 months to find the money for $300 for windows 7, maybe you'll spend 30 minutes showing Grandma how to use firefox on Ubuntu instead.
Purchasers -- when you get sick of windows accusing you of stealing your copy when you upgrade too many pieces, keep in mind that your copy of Ubuntu won't complain.
Related to #1: customers are pragmatic about quality, and the open source and free software movements haven't produced anything remotely as useful as Mac OS X and the iPhone.
Try building OS X and the iPhone without BSD. And Apache, MySQL, and Linux haven't been as useful as the iPhone or OSX at all...
I see you've never gone looking for dependencies that aren't available on your platform.
I think its the common day equivalent to Sisyphus and the boulder. Each dependency has other dependencies that you need to compile before you can compile the app in 64 bit.
I'm missing how not finding large gravity waves means that they don't exist. I get the Copernican principal of mediocrity (we live in a rather typical corner of the universe), but it still seems the conclusion violates basic scientific method: just cause I don't see it, doesnt mean it doesn't exist. I would understand if the experiment were detecting something thats predicted in great quantities (neutrinos,) but IIRC gravity waves (as opposed to gravitational fields) are supposed to be quite rare -- caused by only a few rather large events. Now maybe I'll go RTFA and see if its jsut a usual/. sensationalized summary.
I'm not hating the player. But Yes this was a nice slashvertisement.Nice job promoting a game, and offering promotional pricing.
And yes sell the game. Its called the GPL, not the BPL (Broke-ass public license). Sell it at $2.99 -- you are not bound by anything other than what the GPL requires of you and you are meeting it. The issue is APPLE not you. Apple's tight control of the app store makes it such that a dupe but free app likely won't get approved. App store aside, anyone can package it for a jailbroken iphone.
Go make money young guys! Don't be ashamed of making/improving something and charging for it. If you are grateful and make good money throw the community a bone -- pay for a community forum, donate some cash to the orginal devs or your favorite map designer.
So true. Gmail and Hotmail are both incredible at their spam filters. I do get a few more false positives at hotmail though -- but thats also where I send all my receipts and mailing lists so its understandable. With Gmail its pretty flawless -- just one spam message a month or so gets through. As with others -- yes Yahoo filters seem to suck in spam. Especially 419 type spam.
Oh, I don't know, maybe the whole thing about being, you know, Windows? Complete with viruses, DRM, spyware, MS deciding my rights, product activation, having to call MS if I upgrade my mobo and other substantial parts at once, oh and the whole paying money for it thingy.

Now people can stop bitching about how "free" a driver is and just concentrate on how well it works.
Or just use an OS that actually works with modern hardware
Or just use hardware that works with a modern OS.
KDE is too cluttered. Eventually, I learned to stop worrying and love Unity.
also known as the Amarok user interface... (its the platypus of UIs, you're left wondering how the **** did that happen?)
I'll wait till the version with 3 dots and the little missiles comes out.

No, a combo box is a drop down list that also has a field in which you may type. For example, the font menu in Word is a combo box.
No, a combo box is a crotch (box) that has both male and female parts (the combo). Drop downs, multi-selects, or "other" fields are options.

I think House has inspired a bit of this as well.
Sounds like Google has already begun its defense: Google buys Chip startup

If they do -- shut up and work around it.

They meant to say $100 bajillion dollars.
or drive away experts because the rewards are menial. Want to lose volunteers? Pay them. It insults the value of their time and makes it work.
Not without better connectivity.

It's faster than XP. What's not to like about it?
