You after reading this litany of comments I just do not understand why many of you are alive. You are telling ANON to just give up. Fuck you. If everyone had ever given up then you'd not be in a position to make your comments with such ease. This post makes me rather disappointed.
Why not try a simple well organized boycott? I know, it sounds grossly old fashioned and just too far beneath your considerable talent, skill and angst. But, as you have found, these companies are actually trying to stay in business because they enjoy their revenue stream. If you could, say, interrupt that revenue you could get some attention. And it wouldn't be all negative attention. No one likes a screaming child, but they are soon forgot. A well mannered articulate child is remembered forever. The longer you can interrupt their revenue the more they're going to want to discuss this quibble. So... perhaps you may wish to think about a worldwide boycott? Try it for a day. If it's moderately successful, try it out for a week. Shut down Amazon, VISA and MC's money for a month and the entire globe will listen.
But this is not fighting anything. It's just giving fuel to the other side. This will only serve the US Gov and large corporations.
So maybe ANON is being guided by a few well placed CIA ops. Since ANON is doing such a bang up job at helping them out. Hmmm... makes me think ANON is just being used as a corp. tool.
Precisely. In the end we'll look back and see the mountains of spin the US Gov', CNN and FOX put on this to convince the world that hackers will eventually take over the world. They'll cite stats on how they compromise this or that. They'll interview ppl who had their identity stolen and close the interview with things like: "..it's only a matter of time before we all end up like John here."
While I do think their heart is in the right place, this is a woefully misplaced effort. If they could instead boycott all these places. If they could get say an 80% reduction in customers of PayPal and Amazon for a month, that would seriously damage them. If they could get a global effort of people to not use their Visa or MC for 6 months, that would make everyone take notice. But sadly, like much of the current social spectrum, they'll have a kneejerk reaction, applaud themselves and then forget about it. But the gov't's and corporations will NOT. We will all pay for this type of behaviour.
I'm left to ask: Why Wikileaks? Why not fight for the stack of equally as good social causes and try to stop the mountain of injustice we have? Oh, yeah, cuz this is the hot topic du jour.
What next, floppy drives?

Seriously, all this fast paced change and incredibly quick adoption of new technology makes my head spin. I just got through building the recommended case out of plywood for my Apple motherboard. Now I find out that I will have to use some fancy new type of video doohickey. Gees Louise!
While you may very well be a republican you can stop judging me because I am NOT a libertarian. I'm just tired of lazy fucking people costing me money and consuming gov't resources. No, I don't think an adult should be required to use any safety features on the road. If they want to help weed herd then more power too them. They're just sucking up my O2.
If we just made sure people got in a car to drive, instead of play games, read, write, talk on the phone, do work, eat, sleep, piss, shit, and ever other thing people do instead of paying attention that may actually work.
America, no one is responsible for their own actions. Please check your personal liberty and responsibility at the door. Thank you.
Couldn't agree more. It's a bit shocking to see how many sites use that damn script now. Between FB and google analytics I'd venture a guess at over 90% of commercial sites are doing this sort of 2nd party tracking. I block both and find the inconvenience of NoScript to be well worth the piece of mind. Hell, even banks use them now.
So by a non profit organization they actually mean that when their bills are paid their salary just keeps increasing? This is just as much as scam as the single family owned and operated ISBN system. It's a wonder that anyone on this planet trusts a US based business anymore.
For a company that is all about being good, Google strong arms its tax sheltered position quite liberally across the globe. It's really sad to see that they cannot afford to pay taxes equally for the infrastructure from which they suck. Fucking pricks.
Finally Russia is getting this capitalism thing. They just need to step it up.
find a person who likely will go insane with power
fly that person to the US and train them
after training, send them back with $$$
help them win a coup
send in reporters to scare up the world (and profit from the ad revenue)
wait for fear to brew
piss them off
claim they're insane to the world and everyone is at risk
send troups, bombs, etc and blow shit up
profit profit profit
Eventually you'll own the land, thin your own herd, scare Europe into thinking you're the good guy and let you take over. You won't be able to handle all the logistics so you'll need to deputize a huge amount of private corporations to "act" as the gov't. They can do your bidding and take the fall. You just sit back and enjoy. If you're lucky Rupurt Murdock will cut you in for a slice of the Newscorp profits too!

Are they going to start using carrier pigeons to send harshly worded ankle notes to the CEOs?
"But what if there's nothing worth watching?"
I did not realize the networks had anything worth watching right now.

There should be a mod for pretentious pricks with no sense of humour.
(except for us)
The ancient Mayans predicted this as well as Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce and that Uri spoon bendy guy. This is (for sure) the end of times!
Give them a few years and we'll not be able to object to anything.
Not a slow news day... /. has succumb to mediocrity just like the rest of the net.
When this digresses to Lord of the Flies, just remember someone thought this was a good idea.
But you already had a base education.

For a moment I thought this was a second story in a row about Paypal being complete corporate douche bags.
Pity Frank Herbert isn't still around to see the fruits of his imagination!
It's so that you forget about it and they're never called out on failing if they do.
They're trying to be just like Apple. Start off with rough sawn wood and in 2 decades they'll be a minimalists dream.

The pubs will need compensation since they'll be the hardest hit in all of this.
