I've heard people will make allegations agaisnt one another in the blogoshere in the these countries, then thousands will harass the allegee to point of suicide, divorce or job loss. Its often hard to track down who made the original allegation and whether there was any truth to it.
There is also some net vigliantism in the USA. The Dateline - Perverted Justice team come to mind where they post identities of pedophile stalkers. But there have been allegations of mistakes in the past, and a suicide of a defendent on NBC this week.
To me this sounds like a potent weapon. I wonder if the mobs or the government have the wisdom not to abuse it.

I suspect 99% of human history was very communal. In a smallish tribe of 15-100 people its not hard to watch everyone all the time and know everything about everybody. My only minor experience is long backcountry trips. You know who is bonking who and when, when people are sleeping, eating, bathroom, etc. You get used to it.

The maker is former Harvard paleontologist turned full time film maker. The film claims the ID people are wrong and the scientists are terrible communicators.
I beleive people are investigating how to use ambient human muscle power to automatically charge cells and mp3s. There used to be self-charging watches using motion, though lcds last years on ordinary batteries.
Dean seemingly came out of nowhere in the 2004 because he was the first presidential candidate to really leverage the internet and attract those young eyeballs who disdain conventional media. Unfortunately a combination of being the high-profile front-runner and a bad temper undid his internet advantage. I guess lots of candidates are trying to win the internet contest now.
All it took was about a 30% price drop in the price of gasoline and the hybrid companies have vehicle surplus. Even Prius has a marketing incentive now after years of dealer premiums.

Others have built large scale parallelism in the past such as Thinking Machines and Masspar. They were not fully general CPUs, i.e. floating point. Plus the companies could only develop new generations on a 3-5 year time scale, so the general purpose workstations and clusters almost caught up by then. Having a "major" back large scale parallelism may finally lift the curse.

Then some Chinese say Europeans all look alike- European have yellow(*), curly hair and big noses. (* stereotype any hair color not black) Eye shape is a not a standard stereotype to them.
