Me too. I fired a simulated M-16, M-2, AT-4, M-19, et al back in '96. The weapons used a gas piston to simulate recoil and lasers to show hits on a screen. Wasn't too bad, all things considered.
the accent comment also means any strong accent, even southern or north eastern ones. Yeah, there's nothing I hate more than calling tech support and getting Mayor Quimby.
I disagree. To me, the opposite is true. I work in the intelligence community, and small world phenomena means a great deal to me. When looking at terrorist networks, for instance, it comes as no surprise to me that every low-level member is only a few links away from the leader, though it never fails to amaze most of my coworkers. Knowing centrality or closeness out to three decimal places usually doesn't mean a whole lot, but knowing about small world phenomena allows a greater understanding of how these kinds of networks operate.
Almost every network exhibits small world phenomena. Neural networks, human networks, www, etc. EVERY actor is connected to every other actor by 6 or fewer degrees, not just Kevin Bacon. And every human is connected to every other human by 6 or fewer degrees. And while understanding how small world phenomena helps us understand human networks, I fail to see how this is even slightly interesting applied to Wikipedia.
Having done phone call analysis for the government, this is hardly a viable solution. Multiple calls from a pay phone would stick out like a sore thumb in this day and age.
I think you're referring to reading comprehension skills, not math and reasoning as such. Flying in the face of/. norms, I read TFA again. There is no mention of how many data centers were queried, though their goal of 100 responses could be used to guesstimate. Also, it says the plan is 1 year old and the data centers need to compile 12 consecutive months of energy usage and submit it before June 1. How the 54 other companies compiled 12 consecutive months of data in 11 months is conveniently left out, but perhaps there will be more companies complying with the request closer to the deadline.
So 54 data centers responded out of "over 100"? That seems pretty good to me. How many of the rest just didn't know how much energy they used, or couldn't be bothered to look it up?
There's also the problem of genotype vs phenotype. Fido's genes may be expressed differently the next go-round, leading to subtle or possibly not-so-subtle differences. And as you intimated, how the clone is raised will be just as important as its genes.
But Fido could be brought back once we perfect that brain-scanning thingy in the 6th Day movie. Genotype, phenotype, and, uh...brainotype would be so close to the original Fido, that Fido 2.0 would seem almost identical. But without the scanner doohicky, Fido 2.0 will be just another dog.
"Short or curly carbon nanotubes did not behave like asbestos and, by knowing the possible dangers of long, thin carbon nanotubes, we can work to control them," he said.
"This is good news, as it shows that carbon nanotubes and their products could be made to be safe."
Thank god I can keep up my habit of snorting curly nanotubes.
And the CSS that never works, and the links that take you to the bottom of the page when you just want to see one post, and the overlapping text, etc etc.
Exactly. Next we should resurrect the giant horses, giant sloths, giant tortoises, saber-tooth tigers, etc that roamed north and south America before humans came here. We can just raze all the cities, kick the humans off, and give back both continents to the long-dead animals we killed here. After that, it should be the giant flightless Moa birds of New Zealand, then the giant lemurs of Madagascar, and so on until every species we've killed is back and humans are confined to the plains of Africa.

Well, I think there's a few devices with the word Micro in them. But if it came down to it, they could just switch to Pico.
...listen to Benny Benassi's Who's Your Daddy?
I, for one, welcome our bi-polar robot overlords.
Underrated movie, actually.
...as long as he was campaigning for the other guy.
I thought it had to do with flying pasta.
So it should have a high prestige, but not closeness.

Yeah, I was thinking I'd rather watch a video of a CPU dieing from the Big Crunch.

If we can put a man on the moon, I should be able to get my dog cloned for under 100k.

Ads, as in plural? All I see is the stupid one about the omnipotent rabbit.

Mine says The Most Annoying Software Out There - Microsoft Internet Explorer. I'd kill to have any veriosn of Firefox here at work.

You and your fancy colored text. Back in my day we had Pong!
You want to see videos of U.S. soldiers getting blown up?
